I just bought one! Found a 2006 with less than 7500 miles on it. On the first day of ownership, had people flagging me down to pay their compliments. I love this bike!!
Hi congrats, does it have traction control and ABS?
Elie Nehme Mine has ABS. It was optional for buyers. It also has a combined braking system, meaning that depressing the front brake lever automatically will activate the back as needed. No traction control that I know of.
@@boxofmoles4057 Did you keep your K1200R? How has your experience been? especially with that eh infamous combined braking system?
I have a K1200R with 28.000 kilometers on it, it has just gotten a big overhaul with new fluids everywhere including the brakes. Wondering how long i can stretch it before i have to replace brake fluid again.
Any other tips? :)
@@Surpriseify I put a very pleasurable 7K miles on the K1200R. Every ride was a joy. Sold it for a 2021 R 1250 GS. Hated it. If you spend time around GS riders, you'll soon learn that dropping the bike goes with the territory, moving or not moving. Not my cup of tea. Now I have a 2022 R18 Classic. Really pleased. Another bike that gets a lot of attention, from riders and non-riders. Always funny when the Harley guys walk up thinking I'm part of their clique and then say, "Whoa, that's a BMW?!? I didn't know BMW made a cruiser! That's gorgeous!"

The R18 is a fantastic looking machine, if i was not 25 and with other financial thinks to consider i'd very much like one of those.
I am very pleased with my K1200R however, fantastic power and it really just looks awesome in my opinion.
I have every intention of "over maintaining" it, as i suspect its one of those bikes that whilst obviously is reliable and built well, it likes a bit of extra attention.
Thats why whenever i stumble upon 1200R owners i have to ask if there is something they consider to especially important to look out for :P

Any serious bmwers out there to meet?
In my opinion they just read it from a book. Too many hiccups in what they say. 165 horse and a windshield that small l take your helmet off. They never drove it.
It has not a streetfighter apereance, it does not look aggressive. The windshield is a joke trying to mimic real streetfighters. You just try to make it look good. I ride a k1200 rs 130hp. Big adjustable windshield. Cant keep my helmed head straight when I open it up. And they are telling us this little nothing thing windshield keeps all the wind noises out and it is very comfortable, on a 165 hp bike? I call BS.
