Nice set up! I use one of those 36" collapsible dog pools that has a garden hose drain on side and my son's hula hoop we used to have around the house when he was little 😆 works perfect for my curtain
That is a perfect solution for van and truck dwellers, easy to set up and dismantle, with privacy and room to properly shower. May I suggest an idea? to have the drain hose to the back seat area of your truck to drain in a container that way if you are in a public place you can contain the water and keep the law away from you and if it is freezing cold it would not create ice sheet where you or other people can fall and get hurt. Thank you for sharing. Semper Fi
That's an awesome idea for either somebody camping out of a truck or even installing that in a cargo van or homemade cargo trailer camper or something thanks for the video
Great video! I use a “pig trough” from tractor’s supply though a small cement mixing tray is basically the same thing available at Home Depot or Lowe’s or other hardware stores. It’s about 24 x 36 so it will fit in the walkway better (I don’t have open under the bed) you can drill a little hole in this to add a drain like your setup. Then you can use the tub to store things while traveling like dirty shoes or whatever. I really enjoyed your video!
I'd like to adapt this idea for our cabin tent...We're in Michigan and love camping at our many state parks...not a fan of the public showers...they're nice but they creep me out. So glad I watched...thank you for your very clear demonstration. Very cool.
@@its_prodi-g6940 I love Arizona. I have good friends there around the Phoenix area. I hike out there and they also visit me for hikes on the east coast. Thanks a bunch!
I keep looking at this video while I'm making my build. I decided to use the "Really Useful Box® Plastic Storage Box" from Office Max along with your drain idea. I even found the stool that you used and I plan to store the shower as a kit under my bed. Man your idea flat out rocks! Thanks for the idea!
That sounds great. I ended up using a shorter piece of drain hose which seems to drain better than using a long hose. I think it's because the diameter is so small. If the waste water doesn't completely drain it is easy enough to slide the pan out of the truck and tilt it to completely drain. An outside portable shower is what I use when possible but this method is a great option when needed. Thanks!

This is pure genius! Thank you! I know me- those hooks in the ceiling would eventually catch my hair or something else. While I was thinking about it, I could attach some sort of pipe clamp or d-ring to the ceiling and make a "shower hook" by gluing a bead large enough to the end of a nail or strong wire then bend the top over. The bead doesn't let the hook fall out of the hole and removes and stores easily.
Thank you Tina! I really like the way you think! Instead of hooks you could keep it easy and simple by using Velcro glued to the ceiling and curtain. The Velcro is plenty strong enough to keep the shower curtain in place. Let me know if I can help.
Dude, thank you so much and much prosperity to you! I want to do some stealth van living and it's almost impossible to find any DIY shower stalls, plus you gave us a drain too. Your ingenuity is appreciated! Can't thank you enough. This was going to be the hardest issue to solve until now.
Oh man that's great to hear! Another thing to consider is using Velcro to attach the shower curtain to the ceiling. Let me know if I can help. Thanks for the good comment.
Pretty neat there. My truck shell is a regular cab height, but hey I compensate by being 5'5". I like that idea. I currently use the tent shower and pump sprayer...I keep telling myself I need to buy one of those propane water heaters, but heating some water and mixing in some cold water works just fine
I would put magnets on the curtin and on the pan. This would help hold them in place so you want drip water on the floor. I love you channel. I am currently drawing plans for a truck camper now.
Very cool! Great Shower. I’m thinking of doing something like this to travel from Alaska to Florida round trip every year as long as our dog is alive.Ha Ha. My better half will fly and I’ll drive our crew cab shortbed with the dog.

Alright Keith, I saw your AC video and thought: "I'll do that with my camper shell!" Now I see this video title and think: "Keith is a madman" hahah. It actually looks like it works pretty well!
Good idea, also can use similar set up as a restroom to put porta poddy in...i have seen similar set up to this that people have used out doors as a shower but never in truck bed..good one .
For the drain, go to a home brew supply store ( or online) they make nozzles for 5 gallon buckets with rubber washers you screw into any plastic container (5 gallon buckets typically) with an on off valve. Only like 2.99 or less.
Had similar idea. If I could find a shower pan with higher sides I’d do it. I’m fickle about the possibilities of water splashing out. I bet the arse washing aspect is the toughest as ya gotta remain limber and squat. It’s the hot water I most concern myself with. I’ve seen those usb 12v pumps which seem like a great idea but ya gotta be close to water source. Thought about boiling water and pouring into gravity bucket but again height inside always issue in a truck. I’m trying to perfect something like this in wintertime currently 20 degrees in New England and liquids are freezing in my truck cab let alone in a bed cap scenario. I did see one guy turned the very back of his minivan into a lined shower area with drain and a shower bag.It was literally walled off like a separate tiny room.I tell ya people tap in to their very creative sides when survival needs occur.
There are various size plastic pans out there. If you use velcro to secure the bottom of the curtain to the pan, water will not splash out. The pump shower filled with warm water doesn't have much pressure to cause much splashing either. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Keith, new subscriber here. That looks like a nice setup. I need to come up with a shower setup for my rig. I might use some of your ideas. Thanks for the video.
I think it's all ingenious except for the shower pan. Why not use a tote or large bucket like a muck bucket for horse stalls? When not in use for showering, dry it out and use for storage of bulky items in back of cab or corner of camper. There is just too much risk of spillage. Plus if you are a female you can use the accumulated water to shave your legs. There is a lot of desperation amongst campers for showers. I'm 70yo and didn't know what a shower was until my teens. They were not standard in many houses. We bathed in the tub and hair was washed in the kitchen sink. You can get clean sponge bathing or by using buckets on a park bench. Or you can take a blowup kiddie swimming pool and bathe in it on warm days. If there is no privacy , then bath with your swimsuit on. You will get just as clean. Like I said, its clever but the pan is too shallow.
I only have 4 feet of headroom so I need enough room to sit down while taking a shower. An extra large tote would work. My parents only had a bath tub when I was young and I didn't use a shower until my teens either. Thanks for sharing!

Plenty of room for your shower. Using the toilet for a seat is a great idea. It's like a "wet bath" set up in small campers. I would like to see the finished project. Thanks!
@@geenote I hope you checked out the video/slide show on my channel. Its going to be a "micro camper". If you look in from the back in the cap to the right, we will have the "galley". 15" sink connected to a 5 gallon water cooler type of bottle for portable water. For a water heater, for now, the plan is to disable a water cooler and use it for hot & cold water. Will it work? I hope, space is limited. Next to that is a 4"/5" recessed drop in spot for a induction or gas top stove. Which one we cook on will depend on the weather outside. 26 quart Ausranvik fridge ($279 Amazon) and a 700W microwave. Please subscribe if you like. I'm going to build the cabinets this weekend and record it.
@@BoeingJetTech Yes I watched the video earlier, thumbs up and commented. I like your plans for the interior. I will subscribe so I'll know when you post the update. You might find a couple of my other videos useful showing my inside set up and AC build. I'll be looking forward to your next update - I'm sure you will give me some good ideas. Thanks!
Fill the truck bed with water and take a bath.
LOL ! Shoot yea why not....maybe swim around in circles and get some laps in!
I am 6' 1" this shower idea is pretty cool....however....i think i would want more than just 2 gallon water jug...
Unless thats what i typically use and dont even realize it
I would say this is more of a "Navy shower" style shower set up. LOL! 😄
@@geenote That makes sense...lol
I have never been in any branch of military......
Ok I was wondering how you warm your water up but I seen what you did you heated it up on the portable stove then poured it in , is there any other way to heat water I've seen those portable outdoor shower heaters I don't know much about them
I like this shower because it so simple, doesn't require power, and easy to carry around. The water can be heated on a stove, over a campfire, or leave the pup shower in the sun all day. czcams.com/video/y_lYGV_rkdM/video.html
