Same here - lol. My long suffering husband gained a new centre border when he went away a few days for work last year...!

Awesome hardy geranium....the leaves are stunning.
"Masquerade" penstemon is another dark stemmed flower.
White and lilac perenials would really show off many of these chocolate or maroon plants.
My pin cushion and chocolate cosmos are also dark flowering.
    And dahlias too.
    Love the drama!

I thought aquilegia flowers look like bonnets, nothing sinister 😂 thank you- I have a yellowish brick house and the dark shows up beautifully. Thank you Rosy.

I have been gardening for over 50 years in New York State, ,USA and have rarely found many of the wonderful perennials that you discuss in this and other videos, at any nursery. There are several huge plant companies that supply the garden centers and “ big box stores” here. Independent nurseries that specialize in growing the more unusual plants are disappearing.
I learn so much from each of your videos, and try to remember the new classifications given to some plants. I wonder when Dicentra had a name change, and why this seems to be happening more often with so many plants.

I used to think that botanists spent their time reclassifying plants because there’s no more discovery work left.😅
Then I learned it’s because of DNA new technology. Now scientists have the possibility of looking at the genetic similarities and differences between plants which are not detectable by morphology alone.

Love the plants in this video. Am I correct that these are only available in the UK? I landscape my yard in the US and would love to plant a new area with these plants from the dark side. I've only watched a handful of Rosie's videos, but have enjoyed and learned something from each of them. She has the most interesting plants every video. Thanks Rosie

Has Dicentra been recategorised? I can’t keep up with all these changes, they could at least make the new name more pronounceable 🤣🤯 I have to say I have lusted after Centaurea Jordy for a while but haven’t managed to get one yet.

DNA analysis is shaking things up in botany a lot at the moment. There will be more reclassifications, splittings and joinings of groups to come.
