Rest In Peace, Joe Sample - I "discovered" your music 40 years ago and the magic you brought never diminished. Thank you so much for enriching my life and the lives of millions of others. You were a very rare individual.
Southern Nights was such a great LP. This line up really brings this tune new life. Barry Finnerty is a great guitarist.
Finnerty is underrated as hell!
I thought that was a young Larry Carlton on guitar@@IronMan-tk8uc
Mr. Wilton Felder rest in peace sir
I just cant say enough about mr. metronome
hooper... Luv it, luv it
I was a DJ in the 70's working at clubs around the world and this is my ALL TIME favorite Tune.So much so that I left instruction for this record to be played at my funeral as I exit the world forever. AWESOME!!!!!!!
These guys are awesome. Scratch is an awesome album. The way it kicks off is so badass.
I bought that album Scratch! It indeed was great!
And Those Southern Knights! 🙂
Heard this one Summer night back in 2019 on the radio, and fell in love instantly! 70s Jazz just feels good. Those keys Joe is playing sound so pretty
I am blessed to have the honor to shake the hand (not to hard) of this great man. What a nice guy! Your music will live on forever...RIP Joe...
An auto parts delivery guy was jammin this in his car today... I had to hear it again... Great classic..
Here we are many years later still trying to keep that same old feeling!this is real music!
Stix hooper grooves like no other!!!!
You get one live version, but it’s the best live performance you’ve ever heard! I’m truely blessed 💯 this is one of those performances that take you’re breath away🎶❤️unbelievable talent!
Been lovin' the Crusaders since the 60's....RIP Joe

Norfolk, VA, Spring Of 1975, Mr Cincinnati, What A Great Time In My Life...I'll LOVE U Forever!❤...😎❤️
They always sounded great. Love Joe and Wilton on their respective instruments. I got to see them during the late eighties and early nineties. Great show and great people.
Mr Stix Hooper God giving Talent
TIMELESS TRACK!
KEEP THAT VIBE ALIVE.
This is a Great display of keeping it simple and just staying in the pocket ! Notice that
Stix Hooper , Eddie Watkins and Joe Sample are just laying it down without stepping on each other and maintaining a Cold Blooded groove. RIP Mr. Sample and thank you for sharing and displaying your musical genius with us for the last 4 decades + and as for me I'll Keep that Same Old Feeling.
erik dennard Nice comment!! 😊
It's an excellent performance of this classic tune
you're so right! a function of listening, that is how i see it. that's musicianship. that is skill. i be loving their work since i discovered them in the 80s. great band.
Supadope, excellent musicians sharing their Craft
Wayne Henderson, composer of this tune, lived in Compton on Brazil & Maie!!! My Homeboy!!!
[GLEN FROM COMPTON]
This band had a great groove. 40 years ago I fell in love with there sound. I could listen all night under the stars. And Joe well he knew just how to to compose that right sound.
This is music!!!
Yes it is!
I agree wholeheartedly! ✌️
Joe....thank you for making us all feel our best while listening to your great sounds. RIP
Extremely fortunate to see them perform in Indy during their leg of this tour back in "84.....
Doctor garbanzo,
That's the year I went to boot camp. I've seen everybody but them. My favorite was weather report at poplar creek music theatre in Hoffman estates.
Iconic - One of my top 5 feeling good grooves ALL TIME!
DOPE ASS bass - so tight
the studio version is super fresh 2
. This is my 1st. time hearing this live version--it's pretty cool !!!!!!
Barry killed that guitar and wilton was wilt on and Joe did his thing....I think wilton was underrated because of all the great sax players of the 60's, 70's and 80's but to me he was right up there with the rest of them....r.i.p. Joe sample. ...
RIP Wilton Felder
Truly one of the great Jazz Bands back in the day that made their mark in jazz history! They never truly got all the recognition that they rightfully deserved. RIP Joe & Wilton You guys are insatiable..
Still a top notch feel good peice of music much needed 2014

One of my favorites..
"WILTON"------- RIP & KEEP THAT SAME OLD FEELING!!!!!
Spending the 70's in my 20's and into my 30's I loved the Crusaders. I always put them into my favorite catagory along with Gino Vanelli, The Brecker Brothers, Return To Forever, Donald Byrd and the Blackbyrds and WAR into my cruisin music in what ever car I had at the time. My 1970 Hemi Challenger, 70 Corvette, 73Corvette, 74 Trans Am or 75 Rallye Sport Camaro. How about Bob James 1, 2 ,3 etc? The Crusaders got me thru many nights on the strip. Thanks for posting.
That song was with me in El Paso, TX back in 1975 or 76 when I was stationed at FT. Bliss, TX in the US ARMY!
RIP: Mr Wilton Felder

A LIVE PREFORMANCE, ❤❤❤ Loved It DOBIE WAN KANOBIE ❤ REVISITED July 22 2024 ❤❤❤
Back 30+ years...Wow!!!!
all that is missing is Wayne Hnderson's great trombone solo. That was my favorite part of this song!
Agreed. Wayne’s trombone playing accompanying Wilton is really set this band apart from other jazz bands. These guys went too commercial and were never really the same when he left. Some good songs here and there, but definitely not as unique when Wayne was with them. RIP-Wayne, Wilton and Joe.
@@chrisschrecker5497 Wayne leaving was indeed a significant blow for them, but in my opinion they still managed to keep the fire burning until the anthologic Street Life album. Only when the 80s hit that the band started to go down.
Yep. I always thought that losing Wayne was a big loss but also the sound of Wayne and Wilton together, it’s one of my favorite sounds
Marvin Bell: i have ben a Crusader since my teens and iam in my 60s. Keep that same old feeling. I like listening to the Crusaders all the time. I especially like Halucinate song.
Heck yeah! Hadn't heard this in ages until I stumbled upon it tonight! R.I.P. and thanks for the memories Mr. Joe Sample!!!!

These guys surely know how to keep that groove!
SO GOOD
RIP Crusaders !!!
Stix is the only one left.
Miss them ALL! Wilton, Stix and Joe..
Man I remember my first apartment...on my own..I had it going on.. new 1994 Monte Carlo with 8 track jamming. I had to run from that girls. I was so cool working in college and grown. As I reflect those were the best days of my life.
So clean!
LOVELOVELOVE The Crusaders.
Happy Birthday Stix Hooper!!
MUSIC AT IT'S BEST!!!!
I never commented on this video!
top draw simply brilliant ,pure class
♪♪♪ simply amazing!
This song speaks loudly to the vibe it presents, after hearing it from my childhood, that same old feeling never fades every time I listen to it. It was a little bit emotional for me to be on stage some 15 years later with a band; I played the guitar. We gave the song its due 'musican-ship' it deserves. Don't ......around with that masterpiece if you can't present it the way these artisans do. Starting with the bass, if you don't get that right leave it alone. Thanks 'POPS,' thanks Crusaders; long live Joe via CZcams.
The Crusaders rock. And so do you, for posting this. Better than the album version, IMNSHO.
Excellent...Finnerty is amazing.
Man U just gotta love this.
Timeless music!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FANTASTIC!!! I LOVE THE CRUSADERS, AND MY #1 MAN MR. JOSEPH (JOE) LESLIE SAMPLE ON KEYBOARDS!!! ❤❤❤❤ THANKS FIR THIS AWESOMW UPLOAD!!

Great sound! Hi from Tunis!
Estes caras sao bons pra caramba
Brilliant as you say in english! I'm belgian and I known this group for 25 years now, and still love it! Great musicians, thank you jazz!
Classic, smooth jazz music!
Boy ...This reminds me of waking up back in the day to NYC Radio Jocky Ken "Spider" Webb!! You just can't get music like this anymore!!! Please bring back choice of musical instruments to Public School!!!!
It's our loss!!
yeah, real music!
This one of my favorite tracks off the Southern Knights LP. This live version is really good, but it's not the same without Wayne Henderson's trombone.....
But is it really possible to pick a favourite song from Southern Knights??? I recall how I was disappointed when I bought it first and it was just 38 minutes in total... But those 38 minutes are non-stop pure funk!
The mighty Jazz Crusaders, loved them cuddling with the wife unit at the Park West in Chicago.
Yes this is the bomb
❤️👏🏻
Such a Joy to see them many times at the Baked potato in LA. Amazing lock and shades
Great band
@Lonewolf36 those were the days! My first Jazz Crusaders album - Live at the Lighthouse '69 - still my sentimental favorite to this day.
Nice!
*Listen to the work of my brother FEELFOUND, he really needs support, he is trying. 💯*
R.I.P. dear Joe
