One time I "lowered" my standards and it cost me time that would have been better spent engaging with my interests and hobbies. Prior to that lapse and after, I keep my standards. My male friends have criticized me for having them but except for the aforementioned lapse, sticking to them has served me well. My female friends have affirmed that principle. I'd rather be alone the rest of my days and not compromise my standards for romantic female companionship.

I always used to think that standards meant beauty or how attractive I felt towards someone.
"Success potential" is definitely a point I find intriguing. I was recently told by a young woman, a fellow university student of whom I am attracted to, that she sees great potential in me and believes that I could probably rise to the very top of my discipline. She has also praised me time and time again for being competent and efficient, with a solid work ethic. But before now I had not considered it as a potential indicator of attraction.
I won’t tolerate mixed signals and unrequited love in a woman.

Spot on With the Physical Fitness! I struggle with Type 2 Pre Diabetes and was kind of addicted to Junk food I was in serious denial about it until I got a wake up call! The only 2 I have are high standards and physical fitness. I am very passive, have a dry sense of humor (and am not funny), have no goals or desires for the future, and never really cared about my appearance. I honestly accepted years ago that I won't ever date, but that doesn't mean I don't want to learn about this type of stuff. I have always attracted women that I am not attracted to, mostly because I am much more comfortable around them due to not having pressure or anything. A couple of the 5 women I have been attracted to in my life did ask me out and wanted to date, but I declined for their benefit since they deserve much better than me.

These things are true. But these pointers are useful to the person who is already all this. For someone whos not, pretense and make believe wont work for too long. Either you are like this or you are not. An introvert person can pretend all this, but it wont stick for too long. And pretending to be someone you are not wont last for too long. It will fall apart with time even if you fake it initially.

If you're not highly ambitious or even moderately so then you're just not. It's not a matter of choice or not willing yourself to overcome a character flaw. Personally I've learned recently that my testosterone is extremely low so I'm on TRT now and am hoping that it will increase my motivation and drive substantially.

I have a lot of drive to improve - if I'm not progressing at my job, I'm learning German, ballroom dance and meditating to take care of my mind. Hello Marni, women are emotional and generally not logical. This is even more true if they are in a relationship. If you are in a relationship being logical it probably will not work out. Also, you need to have chemistry. I think this might actually be the most important thing. This is also not logical either. When a woman feels chemistry with a man, she can not stay away.
