Built a house once. Much caulking to do and You tube and this skilled craftsman were not around. I started at the front door and learned as I went around the house. Big mistake. This guy who doesn't seem to have a name is a genius with caulk. This guy covers every important detail.

25 years in commerical sealants and i have to say thats a Great bead but i have a few suggestions. Your backer should be roughly half as deep as the width of the joint. Spray foam is problematic if you dont let it fully cure. The soap solution if a good finishing step but should never be used as the only tooling method. Wetting the joint before dry tooling can prohibit adhesion even though it looks sealed. Pro tip- you only need a small amount of soap in water and a spray bottle makes it way more user-friendly.

I would advise against the expanding foam. That is why we always use backer rod. You are supposed to put is about 3/8” to 3/4” inside the gap depending on how big the gap is. The caulk needs to be able to grab not just the outside but inside the gap too. With the expansion foam that cannot happen. Also its a lot better to use metal caulk tools instead of finger. Just my recommendation

It’s a 2, to 1 ratio so if the gab is 1 inch then it’s 1/2 in inch for depth backer rod size depends on size of the gab caulking adhesion on three side top sides never bottom thus the backer rod never use water not only does it leave a shiny glaze that any expert can obviously see… also messes with the manufacture warranty. Always use caulking tools. At least that’s how I was taught.

Backer rod to have a bond breaker Not spray foam. ,
Also tooling by fingers is bush league and exposing yourself to all sorts of chemical exposure
Window sealant would not pass especially with water/soap is not allowed by manufacturers . You are introducing moisture onto the pours substrate and contaminating the surface.
