  • Here is a large group of JDM cars heading to RHD Specialties in Kent which will soon be for sale. If you guys are looking to purchase a RHD car from Japan make sure you get a chance to inspect the vehicles yourself first and make sure its a rust free car. These RHD car came form overseas from Japan and were shipped in a roro car ship. If your curious how cars are shipped into your country. We will walk around the Port of Tacoma and look at 40 different JDM cars that were just imported into USA from Japan. Driving past all the JDM cars I noticed a R34 GTR. I thought R34 GTR were illegal to import into the USA. Lets take a closer look at what is going on?

      @@JDMRightHandDrive nice video until you started opening and getting into other people's cars. Not cool! Video from the outside but don't open them up. I'd be pissed if you climbed into my car at the dock. I'd be so disappointed to see it. How would you feel if someone opened up your car while parked in a parking lot "just to see because they thought it looked cool."

    I kinda liked that R33.4 I didn't know 33s had a conversion like the 32s did.

      Yeah, just like Sammits R33.4 he has. When I first drove by this car I thought it was an R34. I was glad to see it was a 33 and that it would not be seized and crushed. It was a very nice looking car. Needs to be detailed and will look great!

    Once the car hits the ground from off the ship, how long does it take to process/import the vehicle?

    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  Před 2 lety

      Only a couple of days. Us customs needs to clear all cars with their soil test. After that if you have all your paperwork ready on your end you can pick up the car. Original BOL goes to shipping line and you need your customs entry packet from your customs agent.

    I had one of those Honda ascot innova when I lived in Japan for a daily beater, it's like a civic that thinks it's a prelude, basically just a junker you buy to beat around from point a to point b, nothing really special about it.

    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  Před rokem +1

      I dont, I have never spent the time to make that video. Its a very simple process.
      1 Make sure to buy a car from a reputable seller/exporter in Japan and make sure you see the official auction sheet. Or buy from auction it self.
      2 They will send you a copy of the BOL or Bill of Lading,
      3. You need to do a Google search for a local customs agent near you and hire them, provide them the BOL and they will start the customs paperwork. Depending on the cost of the car, this cost me about $700 -$1000 6 years ago.
      4 When your car is cleared by Japanese customs and scheduled for shipping, the seller will send you official export documents in the mail as well as a digital copy.
      5. You provide those to your customs agent.
      6 You customs agent will process the paperwork and provide you a customs entry packet.
      7. When your car arrives at port it will have to be cleared by US customs for a soil test.
      8 The shipping line will require you to mail them the original stamped copy of the BOL #1. Once they receive this you can pick up you car.
      9 bring your customs entry packet to the port and pick up your car. There was a port fee of about $125 you have to pay upon pick up.
      10 To gain access to the port, you will need a T.W.I.C card or have to hire an escort to bring you on the port.
      11 Drive you car to the US customs offices with your customs packet and they will clear it, from there you can register it with the DMV.
      Good luck, its a simple process. This company has a lot of info about this process and how to read auction sheets www.youtube.com/@PacificCoastAuto

      Yeah, I was really surprised when I drove by it from the front. I thought initially it was a R34 that someone was trying to grey market import. Once I got close up to it, I realized it was a R33 with a R34 front end conversion.

    What a ripoff these cars are, these future owners are going to get owned. I mean these are straight up restoration projects and there isn't anything that rare. Horrible condition and probably paid a premium. This is why I went to go visit my car before I bought it, no bad surprises.

    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  Před 3 lety +3

      Well said, yes many of these will need restoration. That is very expensive to have done after just spending as much cash as these cars cost. At this point it not many clean cars left in Japan. Probably worth flying there to pick on or buying one from a dealer in the country you live where you can physically inspect the vehicle.

      @@JDMRightHandDrive Unfortunately the rise in demand of these cars have just opened the flood gates of Japans rust buckets to the US. Even reputable sources like HJA (where I bought mine) are having to send some of their cars (otherwise clean in today's standards) to get full restoration programs before selling them to US customers. There isn't two ways around it these days you have to shell the big bucks for a clean example or have enough spare cash (possibly twice the cars net worth and even more) to take into account the restoration, mods and the ever ascending prices of spare parts. I wish I could time travel 10 years ago when a bnr34 costs 50K.
