  • "The Introduction" can be found on the bands 1983, self titled EP: 'Marching Girls", released on RTC, parent label RTC NZ Ltd. (Record & Tape Company Of New Zealand Ltd.) ...a NZ owned independent distributor formed in November 1976 by Brian Pitts, Warwick Woodward and John McCready (later Managing Director of CBS NZ and CBS Australia). McCready and Woodward were bought out by Pitts in 1977. On 1 October 1983 RTC NZ Ltd. was acquired by the newly formed Virgin Records NZ Ltd. although Virgin was still partially (25%) owned by Pitts until 1989.
The year was, 78', evolving from first generation N.Z. punks, The Scavengers [77'] to,'The 'Marching Girls' ...members: Ronnie Recent (Brenden Perry), Johnnie Volume/Cooke, Debra Shulze, Bryan Colechin, and Des Hefner)... transitioning from Punk to New Wave/Post-Punk... which was a genre/style of the day that had become quite culturally fashionable, hence,
taking the world literally by storm!
The Marching Girls relocated from N.Z. to Sydney (Australia) in 1978, where they released; "1"' (True Love)1980, plus the self titled EP: 'Marching Girls" released in 83', before the group went their own separate ways... however, the; Marching Girls banner managed to continue with a couple of the original members up until 87', when they finally called it a day after the release of; "Safe As Houses".
