- CrossFit has had a rough go at it.
The Open was a complete mess. We have been through all that.
We have high hopes for the quarterfinals. It will be very interesting to see what CrossFit will do with Dani Speegles submission of Event 2 for the Quarterfinals.
My guess? A slap on the wrist.
Probably say "Oh it's okay. your score should have been..."
And then....
You showed the capacity (circa de Brooke Wells in 2018 with the HSPU)
But what happens when the movement that is clearly being limited on purpose (the muscle ups) is the one where the capacity ISNT BEING SHOWN.

Everyone should be held accountable, especially people with bigger platforms, more followers etc. For example, Mat Fraser got penalized at the 2019 games for his sandbags falling out on the ruck run and he took it like a champ. I was at that games and I can tell you from where I sat, the judging on every event was pretty spot on. And we all know how that games ended.
Yup he did the right thing and just took it. And rthen worked harder

I think with Noah, it was the pistol at the top. He wasn’t fully extending before changing legs. Not sure what the rule is anymore but at a local comp, they used to make us show full extension before switching feet.

This is the content I’ve been needing to see. So glad to have stumbled across this channel - I was starting to think I was the only person who even cared about the standard any more. I’ve now seen Speegle cheating wall walks, cheating HSPU, cheating RMU and cheating the clock. That’s enough of a pattern for me to form an opinion. She’s not unlucky - she is a cheat.
This year really has seen a slump in standards and it’s bothered me more than I thought it would. Countless totally invalid videos, countless invalid starting positions, wall walks with hands moving before feet on the wall, wall walks with feet off the wall before hands over line, deadlifts without extension, deadlifts being bounced, burpees without lines, burpees wrong side of the line, affiliate validated scores for workouts done without judges and countless pro / elite level athletes just doing as they please.
One of the first things you’re taught on the judges course is how the ATHLETE has a responsibility not to give the judge a decision to make. If it’s even remotely questionable - it should be no-repped and it’s the athletes responsibility to make the rep clear enough that it’s not in doubt.
Does it effect me away down in percentile 36? Not really - but it really grinds me gears knowing that for every bit my performance was mediocre in the scheme of things - I at least did it knowing that I did it to the right standard.
It seems like more than anything you need to learn how to not be so bothered by things that just don't impact your life.

I would call this an invalid video because of the clock. Even if they move on because of that, you can easily tell her time was 11:17, not 10:17. Integrity matters. Should be an invalid score.

If everyday non pros can figure out how to film themselves do workouts, these pros should be able to easily with the teams they have.

She is not alone. So many of the top CrossFitters do those push-away-no-lockout "muscle-ups", (including Mat Fraser!). It pisses me off. Glad you are calling it out here. The partial deadlifts have run rampant with the top pros, also. Tia was intentionally not standing op her overhead squats (out on the track) in the GAMES, and her young female judge warned her at least five times, but never called a no-rep, so Tia just kept doing it. Even judging at Games often sucks. This problem starts and ends at the very top. And Boz keeps getting promotions?!!
In Wodapolooza, Speegle got away with the sandbag walk event, when she didn't drop the bag to clean it again, and she just turned around and walked, and if I'm not wrong, she finished first in her heat,
The judge messed up with the rules, and she got away with it.
The funny part is that the commentators mentioned that she made a mistake, but they didn't call out that she needs to get a penalty. and everybody forgot that
Now I see this, and it makes me wonder if there are some elite athletes who want to take advantage of the mismanagement of Crossfit for their benefit
You are 100% correct about this one.
First off the video she and her team submitted is junk. Focus is difficult with the open door in the background, and then you have the partially hidden timer. Just on those grounds the video should be rejected.
You are absolutely correct on those no-reps. To my amateur eyes, that is an incomplete workout she submitted. This should be treated like golf. You sign and submit an erroneous card, your are eliminated.
Oh and CrossFit, please bring back the regionals.

Dani entered one of those workout alternate dimensions where 10 seconds feels like a minute. Or maybe it was a minute. Hard to tell.

If you have the side number pad the 1 and 0 are next to each other! But it still is not an excuse as once you submit your score you will then see what you put and should adjust it to the “correct” time.
It isn't CRossFit's job to correct anyones score.
Those RMU were a slap in the face to all of my athletes…

@@hillerfit really confused… I just agreed with you about her RMU being garbage. I have a few athletes giving their best efforts over the weekend and are held to the standard. It’s pretty upsetting as a coach to see video evidence of shit reps that i wouldn’t allow.

So she dropped to 139, but it had a time of 12:39, which is her actual time given that she finished the workout, BUT THEN her reps are not good reps, so maybe they need to count down those reps and penalize her too

I just took a look at Noah and Jake's video. I am not sure that Noah reaches full hip extension on the pistols especially in the early part of the first set. This is the problem with going as fast as you can. The reps get shorted. I am afraid as Crossfit becomes more "professional" this is what we can expect. Look at the other professional sports, people break the rules all the time and are not penalized for it. Including the officials who intentially do not enforce the rules. It becomes about the flow of the game or event in Crossfit's case. As long as the player is close to the standard, it is good enough.

I think on his second set his 10th rep looks literally like a failed rep but he just carries on to the next movement

If you watch her doing 22.1 on the buttery bros video as well, I didn’t see her do a single wall walk to standard. These athletes should really hold themselves to a better standard when we all try to in our own gyms.

So here is the thing the video is just one thing. The athlete has until the turn in period to submit the score. So could she have recorded this video and redone the video after seeing it snd got the better score? I have looked snd none of the times have videos attached. Hopefully this isn't going to be a trend for quarters.

I don’t know how these high profile athletes can’t splurge a little on a good camera. Some of this shit looks like found footage half the time.

Sir you are incorrect. She started the workout at zero what you are looking at and stopping the video is the seconds and tenths of seconds not the minute mark. So as far as that goes at least you are not estimating the correct finish time.

RMUs don't look too bad to me...question: should videos have a minimum number of frames per second, because the lockout could be between frames sometimes (same thing for thrusters)

Not judging anyone, I am just asking question to those who have good knowledge in that matter. Is it possible she and other top female athletes can grow such muscles and lift heavy weights with high intensity without steroids?
I played waterpolo for years. I am built very athletic and with great symmetry like a Viking to the point that my friends gave me nickname Adonis, but despite intense training I can’t do some of the stuff these girls do. And I have been in sports all my life and train twice a day during games.I also did judo, swimming, waterpolo in national team but the way these girls are built doesn’t seem realistic and in-line with natural muscle growth in a human being. For example that young girl Brooke. Her muscles don’t look naturally grown to me. I might be wrong I sm just asking
That CF seem to have a metric that goes "shows the capacity" tells me they won't be a legit sport in a long time. I mean either you do it or not there is nothing in between and it's this that makes me don't take CF serious. But the fact that after I don't know 15+ years they still have problems like this somewhat tells me they don't want to become a legit sport because money is king like they let stuff slide for big names just so they can be in competition for the sake of marketing.
But like with the rings why don't they make it so you have to make a micro pause at the top that would eliminate false lockouts since it's almost impossible to pause without lockout. Maybe they do, idk.
And as far as standards it's all about the judges they set the standard, period. It's not athletes fault that they can cheat or get away with bad reps.
Not only questionable extension at the top of the MU but most of the "good reps" the feet go above the rings. No Rep.

Maybe I down know the full standards, but she is getting the harms straight, every rep, she's not stopping in that position, but she is extending the harms fully. On the last reps she is pushing herself to get extended, but not controlled. Honestly I though that you could do that, as long as you extend, even if is for one fraction of a second, it's a good rep, and you see that happening at the games to and I can guarantee to you that there are a lot of people thinking that way. So, I'm not saying that you're not rigth, I'm saying that the point your making is not that clear to most people because that hasn't been enfasised enough from crossfit, if that's the case
