I often listen without watching. Thank you for narrating the test.
Awesome that you guys put this out there. I used to be big into car audio in the 90's then came kids lol. Now that they are driving their own vehicles I was looking at putting a mild system in my Tahoe. Think this little amp will be just the ticket to power 2 sets on 6.5" component speakers and a single 8" or 10" sub. Now I just have to research the speakers and sub.
I love this amp. Running 4 6x9 and a 15 inch sub at 1 ohm. It sounds so clean and the bass slams.
Bro what vehicle do you have. Do you have any power fluctuations?. I hv a stock mazda 2. 90amp alternator/50ah batter. Will it cook my system?
@@hermaudisidore9566 At the time I made the comment I was driving a Jeep Liberty with a 150 amp alt. I ended up installing a second battery because the amp was drawing over 100 amps. on big bass hits. Once I had the second battery I never had issues with my lights dimming.
Skar seems like one of the best for sure.
I see a lot of comments about the voltage starting at 16 V. To clarify, there is no charging system on a test bench. It is battery power only. It's like doing a burp in your vehicle with the motor off. You would never do it unless you wanted to damage everything. In other words, you have to start the voltage higher. All that matters in regards to the voltage is that the test ends somewhere close to rated voltage.
I have this amp and I absolutely LOVE it. The mids & highs are CLEAN due to the A/B architecture. And then the class d subwoofer channel, more efficient, and its a sub so you cant tell any quality difference! This is the closest thing to perfect besides having two amps (which this actually is, its two amps inside one chassis) I will never run class D on my mids and highs ever again!!! Thank You Skar! Now I just need to try out a Skar subwooofer, the one i'm running now is already falling apart and its brand new (its a NVX sonic electronix brand)
Ahh! Class A/B for mids and highs and a class D monoblock? Yes!
will this power a 800w rms sub at 1 ohm good?
Can I put (2) 150 watt tweeters
(2) 6x8 coaxial speakers (2) 6x9 coaxial speakers 90watt rms (2) fsx x65 4ohms on a 700watt skar amp?
All of them is skar except tweeters they are soundquebed
I have this amp it was given to me. Its looks to be in great shape.
NO BURNT SMELL OR VISUAL SIGNS INTERNALLY.
ALL THE CONNECTION POINTS LOOK GREAT.
BUT WHEN POWERED UP RED LIGHT COMES ON NO BLUE LIGHT.
WHERE OR HOW CAN I HAVE THIS AMP REPAIRED?
IM IN TAMPA FL.
If you have your receipt or have an account with Skar they usually give 2 year parts and labor against defective workmanship warranty. They are located a few miles from Tampa.
So what about the rest of us with a 4 ohm sub? 125 watts rms?
Hello,
I am buying this amp and have a question.
My setup will be
2front 75rms ea 4ohm
2 rear 150rms ea 4ohm
1 mini sub 200rms 2ohm
My questions is can I bridge channels 3 and 4 to drop to 2 ohms and be in the 90 watt rms range for each of the rear speakers?
Thanks.
Thanks for the dyno runs. :) Few manufacturers are willing to reveal their truth. That said, you need more AD-1's to do a proper test. Without all channels driven simultaneously you aren't testing the power supply (usually the weakest link).
I'd love to see a CERTIFIED DYNO RUN @ < 1% THD with 4x 4Ω AND 1x 1Ω all driven simultaneously. That would be a real dyno run.
What you did is provide numbers that people will likely never get in the real world if they used the amp as a 5 channel (as intended).
i fully agree with you but for now, this is better than nothing. also, this is far better than the vast majority of mfgs. i still feel this test is a better indicator of performance than ce2006. all channels driven would be ideal.
i actually bought one of these amps id love to see what they run but i can say that 4 ohms on my doors and 1 on my type r 12 actually bumped it pretty damn good and crystal clear
dmhpokey
Your not the smartest dude haha, you Get great Numbers on dynamic with loads of clipping from the gaine and bass boost. and then saying iT does somuch power on playing music. Damn funny worthless tests
@@OxBlitzkriegxO CEA used to be better than nothing, but look at rockville, they are all CEA compliant and they are OVERRATED SHIT. Now that we have these amp dynos, CEA is not necessarily needed anymore and charge manufacturers $$ to put it on the box
So what about running four ohms into the four channels each do you divide the two channels at 8 ohm? I'm trying to figure out what it really runs per channel at straight forums for the meds and highs on channel 123 and 4.
i have two 6" midbass drivers single 4ohms 75rms each, can i run them at 8ohms with this 5channel on the mono side? all other channels are running active ,front tweeters and midrange.
dutch master recalled to life but cant find the exact version its killing me!
Question I just got this RP-600.5 | 700 WATT 5-CHANNEL CAR AMPLIFIER with a ZVX-8 inch sub will that work ?
@Skar Audio can this handle 4x 6.5 speaker ( JBL CLUB 6500C/6520 ) and 2 skar audio dvc (4ohm) ix10 on 1 ohm load?
Yeah you should be good....I did have a single IX10 and I didn’t like it, I did dual IX10s and still didn’t like it, did a single IX12 and that wasn’t it...ended up with a single Crossfire C3 12 400watts RMS and 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Idk if you bought it or not but i ran this exact setup except a 1 ohm 15” sub and it bumped and sounds crystal clear.
So the sub channel is pretty much identical to the RP 350.1
A 4ch amp with a novelty sub.
Nah 420w rms is plenty for a sub to fill up the bottom end. Don't want to hear the sub, want to hear full range of sound imo. Works perfect in my vehicle
I wanna buy the amp to powered my 6 6.5 marine skar speakers can I connect 2 speakers to 5 channel or cause its a mono lock channel will the sound be thr same sorry I don't shit about sound systems
ALL SKAR AUDIO HERE! You guys should add a head unit.WHATS THE SONG YOU ARE USING IN THE VIDEO?
Do the Sk-m9005d that's what I'm running and want to see the power I'm pushing or can push
Clint Polk Jr all skar amps produce about 25 watts more than they say on the spec sheet. TRUE CLEAN WATTAGE. Most other budget amps put out way less than there spec sheet says and not clean or efficient. Skar is TRUE RAW CLEAN EFFICIENT PURE POWER💪💯👍
Welp.. Im sold.
Please Dyno the sk-m400.4D
I'll just keep my Memphis Belle it has 1300 RMS@ the ass end of this beast!!!...ans the sound quality is nooo joke!...best 5-channel I've heard along with my wifes Soundstream Rubicon 5-channel it really impressed me not because of SQ becauss that's what SS is known for but the clean power it produces its pushing a single KICKER CVR DVC 12 wired to 2ohms and it pushes it very well and it was $129.00 on ebay and it has 300 watts RMS at 2ohms...Skar's gotta revise this one!
I bought this amp on Amazon, I'm installing it this week in my G37 sedan...ill post a video
UPDATE: I hooked it up and works like a beast!!! No issues yet!! Video Posted on my channel.
UPDATE: The amp went out on me while playing music at low volume with the music playing for 3minutes or so...it started smoking then shut off. It was working great sucks that it went out on me. Time to try another brand. #Disappointed
Most likely due to improper ground ...i own a G35 coupe myself ...it is a unibody car so trying ground an amp of that power in the trunk will smoke one you need to pull a 4g ground along with 4g power from the main battery on the passenger side under hood next to the firewall....
@Dave Schmidt I had a fosgate for 4yrs and never had an issue, same wiring. Skar just went out for no reason
Not very strong on the sub end!!!
Perfect for my 2 8" subwoofer in my hatchback most amp required allot of power in trying to be practical
Even doubling the power would get you only 3db more, you would need 10 more db for your ears to perceive it as double volume. I ran a Dayton Audio UM15-22 on 400 watts, even though it is rated for 800w. That thing banged real hard with only 400w. Power is great for bragging and elaborate SPL builds, but is totally unnecessary for daily drivers or SQ builds.
Sorry, but we need a higher RMS watts for the 5th channel for those who wants to run single subwoofer setup which is 4 or 2 ohms and not have to wire 2 subwoofers just to get that 472 watts at a 1 ohm load, giving each sub only 236 watts each. And with a 4 ohm subwoofer in the 5th channel, you're looking at what.....100 watts @ 4 ohms for the 5th channel? Come on.
Uh just get a dual 2 and wire it down, I have this amp on a sundown Ev3 10 d2 and it’s plenty for my work vehicle if you want more power get separate amps or a bigger 5ch like the Memphis big belle as it has a 1kw sub channel
Well this amp isn't that good especially barely under rated with over 14.5v when in reality we will not be at those number all day so expect a much lower watts... The 1 ohm is a joke...sorry should of went at least 2 ohms but I guess 1 ohm mono is cheaper to build ... But on the hand it's not bad at price I'm sure I can get a 5 channel Clarion for much better numbers but oh well
Stop! Before you buy this amp you must realize one very important thing! This amp has no fuses on it! I'm not sure why, or how that made it through inspection... but essentially that means if you ever have a short anywhere in your system instead of just blowing and replacing a fuse it will blow your amp and permanently send it into protection mode.. then you'll be in my current position of getting to deal with the joys of warranty technicalities... 😒😒
um sounds like user error... You are suppose to have a fuse at the battery also. none of them have external fuses.
True..but that’s why we fuse them from the power wires!! Fuse blows, then no power
If you read the manual it says it uses an 80AMP Fuse by the AMP….I use a 100AMP fuse at the battery and then the 80AMP Fuse at the AMP. Follow instructions
the soundstream made the same
Orion xtr smokes this garbage buy orion you will be happy
Weak indeed
I've been running 4 6x8 jbl club speakers rated for 65rms @3ohms and a 12" L7s rated for 750rms @1 ohm and even recently installed a couple skar 3.5 inch super tweeters and I'm pretty happy with it. Speakers sound good and pretty crisp and the sub thumps how I like it I just get a feeling it'd sound better with an amp that gets closer to its rms and some headroom. But this being my first setup Im very pleased overall.
