  • It’s not a Delorean, but this Camaro SS is a time machine.
Nostalgia is a powerful force, and for the owner of this super cool 1967 Chevrolet Camaro, it’s turned up to 11. You see, this is not only a really cool 1967 Camaro, with it’s factory-installed first year 350 V8, Rally Sport (RS) appearance package, and Super Sport (SS) performance goodies, but it’s a valued family member that has returned to the fold.
    The Car
When a car arrives at the V8 Speed and Resto Shop, we like to verify it’s identity to see what we’re working with. This time, the VIN and cowl trim tag spell out how this car was built in the first week of November, and was originally painted Butternut Yellow with matching interior and black vinyl top. The RS SS packages are original, as appears the new for 295 horsepower 350 V8 and 4-speed manual transmission installed at the Los Angeles (Van Nuys) CA plant.
    The Story
The owner was fortunate to have some great times in the car “back in the day”, as he and his brother would drive it in high school together. As you can imagine, there are many stories about those days. Unfortunately, his brother is no longer with us, and the Camaro got away from the family. However, our customer’s wife eventually located the car, purchased it, and presented it back to the owner for a very special birthday present. We can only imagine the flood of memories and emotions that day when he slid behind the wheel of this treasured Camaro once again.

Next steps for the Camaro SS
After reviewing the condition of the Camaro, the owner determined he needed a hand to get it back on the road. He contacted us at the V8 Speed and Resto Shop to evaluate it’s condition and create a plan that brings the car right back to the condition it was in back in high school… or maybe a bit nicer! Although originally yellow, the owner’s experience and memories are with it in black, so black it should stay. We’ll go over the car and propose a least-invasive restoration and preservation to make it safe, reliable, and ready to burn up the streets once again.
    What’s your car’s story?
The V8 Speed and Resto Shop mission statement is to “connect people with the best times of their lives through things with wheels”, and this is a perfect example. We are honored for the opportunity to work on this prized Camaro SS, and fully understand the significance of cars like these… they all have stories, but some are never known. In the end, it’s really all about the people and good times had with the car.
How can we help write your family heirloom Classic or Muscle Car’s next chapter?
The V8 Speed and Resto Shop Team stands at the ready to assist with your classic car’s maintenance, preservation, partial restoration, modification, complete restoration, or even to build a totally custom, bespoke, one-of-a-kind automobile that reflects your desires. Awesome episode! Thank you.
Getting his original car back, especially by his wonderful wife is quite a rarity.

You’re so right, this car has many stories. The owner has a second chance at making more because of a supportive wife and a great shop. Looking forward to following along. ~ Chuck

'67 Camaro SS 350 12 bolt had a Round traction support bar from the Right side Floor to the axle tube on the 12 bolt. This was to correct wheel hop, which was fixed in '68 by staggered shocks. IIRC the 1967 Camaro SS350 has MONO leaf spring perches ( shallow) and MONO leaf Springs when new. I have owned a couple. Great project, Not a fan of Y-2 paint combo though hehe!

What a sweet car! Nice and solid. Like you said, car could use a restoration but realistically it doesn’t NEED it. Beauty! Looks like a fun driver

This was first year for the 350ci only offered on the Camaro SS. I have owned and restored this car in a rag top since the late 1980's. A couple things that you may note, incorrect hood which is obvious , SS only hood has two pho air scoops. Rally wheels should have flat dish caps, not sombreros. Engine should have chrome dress ups which included chrome "Chevrolet" script valve covers, a large black base, chrome lid, QJet air cleaner and a chrome oil filler cap. There should be a single small traction bar that was supposed to help with wheel hop. Steering wheel should be three chrome spokes with an "SS350" script horn button. The bottom of the cowl tag should note "4P" which is a factory born SS350 car. Appears to be a pretty solid car and a clean slate for whatever direction the owner may wish to pursue,

I owned a 1967 numbers matching Camaro 350 RS/SS 4-speed and drove it as a daily driver for 3 years. It was a tank. I did need to replace the clutch once. Maybe that wasn't the cars fault however.

Wow that guys wife is a rare find. No matter what they decide it's their car to enjoy (again). My 3 cents worth this time around return her back to the factory colors. Remove rust wherever, replace the "needed" parts to make it Go and Stop... I'd keep the headers and flow masters (but new) double chambers or triples or some related exhaust audio, that's if you want to listen to the radio... if you know what I mean... I think you do.
