Watching for 5 hours that day was so worth it
🤣
I got a bad headache watching it as i was getting pee'd off with Jenson's luck (as i was a big JB fan at the time) Headache soon went when he started kicking ass.... i couldn't stop laughing all night. Was the best race ever (apart from the 1996 Japanese GP)
I remember watching IT und Filly agree with You
Steve Langdon bollocks to him clearly pushed Hamilton in the wall it would’ve been his day if he hadn’t of done it
I had to keep an alarm for 2hrs after the red flag to get up for the race again :)
F1 goals those days - From P15 to P1.
F1 goals these days - Keeping those Mercedes in sight.
.........
Yes during those day redbull seems so dominant but they are not. There is always a fight from ferrari and mclaren with mercedes ocasionally threat.
they changed from v12 to v6 really fucked up f1
in order to of that you need tape a monitor in your cockpit with sky sports f1 on it.
Papa mia Well, not really. Have you forgotten those Red Bulls?
The second phase of 2013 was the only part when Red Bull was dominant. And mind you, only one of them, Vettel's, was actually dominant, while Webber always got caught up in fights against Hamilton and Alonso. Don't look at the results, see how people race instead.
Jenson knocked three guys out including his teammate lol
His teammate deserved it
+Ryan Kelly haha
@Mike Gilardino or maybe Jenson i way older than Lewis
@@DropkickNation Wait, I'm missing something. Who's the third that the original comment is referring to?
He took out Lewis and Fernando, but I don't see the third driver...
@@benevans3041 You can see it from the heightened on-board camera, yes.
This was the first time I had attended an F1 race, after 10-15 years of following it, and I was at turn 6. There couldn't have been a better time to go for the first time. I stood in the rain for four hours and saw Button pass Vettel right in front of my very own eyes, it was incredible. Such a great race in my hometown made me proud to be Canadian.
12 years later, I still remember it as the best race I ever watched.
A quiet, well mannered, underrated legend!
Lynford Walker “well mannered“ - Lol 0:46
Leave the manners to his wife.
@@JonasH0707 Do actually think they can see behind them through all the rain and spray? And no, he didn't change his line or drive dangerously. That was the normal line. Laughable.
@@OwTim Tim Koech, even Ayumu Uehara called the 2011 Canadian GP the alltime classic.
I remember watching this live and being absolutely astounded as to how Button caught him
I was hardly able to believe that live tv coverage soldiered on with the stoppages and such. Amazing seeing JB trump Vettel at the end. I was sour for JB punting FA out of the race but seeing him snatch this one from Seb made my day.
Same here! I was in college, and my friends (who aren't F1 fans) & I went nuts when Vettel lost it. Great memories!
Michael Kraus same! I was so glad he got him
I was 11 years old and I hated Vettel at the time (now I know he's got banter) but it was really late in the evening (in the Netherlands) when the race was still going and when Button over took him I was litteraly just screaming 😂
Barke nice Mercedes engine
I remember sitting until very late that night (I had school the next day). But I didn't regret a bit losing hours of sleep. It was worth it !
Me too! We're definitely from the same time zone
+Forgotten Mustard I stayed up until the morning (having had tiny bit of sellp before that), had less than 2 hours of sleep, and then went to school.
+Forgotten Mustard I was at work with a new coworker and watched the last hour or so of the race. For me it ranks as the best race I've seen in my short F1 viewing history. 2014 Bahrain is close though.
Why am I opening up to strangers? lol
I guess its just that feeling as F1 fans that connects us.
+Forgotten Mustard same here, I sit through the rain at 4am
Forgotten Mustard brilliant I had to go to bed😭😂😭
who is here after germany 2019
Yes
Me! German GP 2019 is probably the best for a long time. I can't even sleep thinking about it.
basically we are slaves to the youtube algorythim
Long time after
nightvvisher yeah
The longest-ever race, and a record that will never be broken with the four-hour time limit now in place.
+Matt Leary Four hours including any red-flag periods.
I can't for the life of me understand why they didn't - and still continue to this day - stop the race clock when the red flag came out. Do you know why they don't? If they don't want to do aggregate timing fine, but still stop the clock
They sort-of do. The race has a two-hour time limit, but this is stopped when the red flags are shown. However there is also a four-hour time limit which includes any red--flag stoppages. I guess they don't want the race to potentially go on forever, and they have to have a defined time that the race will finish.
2 hours now, in 2019
It's......it's beautiful :')
aarava yooooo this was one of my favorite races.
One of the best races I ever watched
Eeyyyyy hey aarava
aarava F1 Race Stars career plz
***** That's big words for a driver who has taken out two of his rivals in Hamilton and Alonso.
It was misery sitting in the rain for hour after hour getting thoroughly soaked. Yet I'd do it again in a heartbeat.. We were sitting at turn 8, the corner right after the final pass on Vettel. The entire grandstand jumped to their feet and cheered wildly when we saw it on the screens and Button came into view down the back straight. I've been to a lot of GPs, but this is one I'll remember forever. Some people actually left the track during the rain delay. Can you imagine how stupid they must've felt afterwards?
For a small grandstand and a few hundred people on the ground our section absolutely erupted until we were drowned out by vettel getting on the throttle again 😁
*This deserved race of the decade*
Oliver Marriott absolutely!
I've really warmed to Vettel.
He's grown so much as a driver since he came into F1... every year he's improved.
Hands down the most thrilling GP i have seen. Great video
Despite my driver Alonso being out of the race, this was the greatest win I've ever witnessed. Gained eternal respect for JB after that race.
if there were ever an F1 hall of fame, JB would be in it for sure
+Kane Knightwolf Not surprising given he's a world champion :P
eah, but there have also been many greats who werent champs, like Mark Webber for example
Kane Knightwolf Exactly. It's surely more difficult to decide which non-world champs are in the F1 hall of fame.
+DeGenz Montoya will always be my favorite driver.
+The Overpoweredgamer I never understood why he left F1...
Sebastian looks really pissed on the podium.
Look at him lmao.
everyone would do this...he was leading 68 of 70 laps..and then in the last lap button overtake him^^
+Formula1Fan1299 Probably more mad at himself than anyone else.
Formula1Fan1299 Anyone would be if you had led almost every lap of a rain-hit, 4-hour marathon, only to bottle it on the last lap.
Formula1Fan1299 Ricciardo Monaco 2016, he didn't had a smile on his face... :(
Arrogant vettel
underrated F1 champion
I remember the Brawn GP days..
@@kanga2683 good old days
Absolutely he deserved more
@@stuartnewman6968 Going to Mclaren is a good choice, not to insult seb but he is really lucky for 2010/2011.
@@MICHAEL-yd3yj How? Vettel lost almost 90 points thanks to bad luck
Damn 2011, time flies. One of the best races I've watched.
I remember me not able to watch the end of the race from my dad, bc the race ended at about 1 AM and I was about 7 y/o
One of the greatest drives of all time.
Certainly one of the greatest f1 races ever. I don't think I was the only one punching the air when pointy finger man lost his rear. ; )
i go as far as to say that this was the most epic race of all time
simply unreal, the best race I have ever seen
Watching this back after todays emotional race. Lets hope you come back to the sport in 2018. If not and this reall is the end, then thank you for all the wonderful memoried JB. You will be eternally missed from the starting grid!
William Medhurst He has a YT chamnel! Hes racing in the Gt500, the Highlights and some vlogs are/ will be uploaded at his channel
He never returned
I was 15. My eyes was fixed to that race and when Button took the win I screamed at the tellie in excitement. Deffinatly one if my top childhood memories !
I was 20 (just) and remember celebrating like mad when Pointy Finger Man went wide. Jenson deserved more but this was his best win.
Who's here after Germany 2019?
Might be the odd one out, but imo Germany was even better
@@bzrnsy1556 Maybe because you haven't seen Canada live (including tv) and only ever seen the highlights?
After Brazil
My personal favourite GP ever, had everything including an unbelievable winner who occupied last place on 2 x separate occasions in the race...conditions made it a lottery but Button's aggressive (sometimes forced) tyre changes ultimately gave him the opportunity he needed to get the win, you know the old GP saying "be on the right tyre at the right time" and Jenson was at the critical points in the race...
I remember that race,i remember when Schumi got past Massa and Kobayashi in a single move and when he was just behind Vettel and i just felt like "Go Schumi this is the moment you can show that you're still the best" And even if he couldn't pass Vettel but even JB and Mark passed him still she showed why he won 7 titles. So yeah,Jenson made a brilliant race and he won it from dead last, but for me the true winner was Michael :) #KeepFightingMichael #Youarethelegend
Watched this race live. Even the rain break. One of the best I've ever seen.
I always remember this race, that's fantastic and awesome. Jenson Button, you are the real F1 driver forever.I never love any racer, but you.You are the only one that make me unforgetable. Good game, best race, best driver.
I don't think it's the best Canadian Grand Prix, I believe it's the best race in F1 history.
This is one of my three favourite race ever. Simply unforgettable
This is Jenson's greatest drive hands down....but I never realized how many drivers he was responsible for putting out of the race lol.
What a race that was..... Jenson was on almost every position on that grid and what a great comeback win that was.
this one... damn, it gives me goosebumps still. I remember screaming so loud my mother came running to see what had happened to me... unbelievable race, unforgettable memories, undeniable talent.
No one voted for Kubica's win?
What the fuck!
they only give 3 options i think :/
imo this was the best race in f1
ikr
Because that was a bit of a fix, Heidfeld should have won
Only 3 options are given
This was the best F1 race ever
Lmfao you idiot. Not even close. It was boring as fuck the only good thing is that Vettel was beaten that day.
+Harry The Cat it's long but eventful still a good race
don't call someone a idiot, bit rude mate, his opinion, you don't like it, tough shit mate
Harry The Cat The waiting was the bild up for that epic finale.
I think that the best race ever was the 1996 Monaco GP
Think everyone cheered when Fingerboy went wide on the last lap to let Button through.
For those saying he didn’t deserve it, he did. He put unreal pressure on Finger boy and he duly collapsed
1 day ago????????!!!!!
I was there in 1999. My very first live F1 GP. Great to hear it has been ranked as one of the best.
My favorite race in F1 without a doubt, and one to be remembered for ages.
One of the greatest races of the modern era.
1998 Canadian GP was also a crazy race, runner up as the best Canadian GP in my book.
Maybe one of the greatest of all time.
One of the best come backs in f1 history
My favourite race ever. Incredible
I disagree that "all Vettel had to do was keep doing what he had done." The lap before Jenson got within DRS range and there would surely have been a showdown at the last straight. Vettel drove over the limit because he knew about that danger. In other words, Vettel was screwed. The only way for Vettel to not have been in danger was for him to push harder during the final 10 laps rather than being conservative.
And he might have been screwed anyway because if he was pushing too hard, his tires would probably have fallen off the cliff and he would have been even more defenseless. Part of the reason Button won was the fact that he is decent in changeable conditions and in tire conservation...
In case you unaware or forgotten... Jenson is 4sec a lap quicker than Vettel in that last few lap... NOT 0.4sec is 4.0 DAMN SEC quicker!!! Even if Vettel did not have that mistake.. he probably cannot defend a 4sec quicker car.. and No DRS give you 4sec!
Yeah, but there is the issue if there only being 1 dry line to take, if he'd taken Vettel on the straight, he could have been minced through the last chicane...
Toughie tho
Dunno why it's so satisfying to see how racing line is dried up whilst the rest of the road is still wet.
I still get chills up my spine watching this. It was bloody awesome.
Still watching this during covid19 lockdowns 😇😇
The most humble f1 driver ever
Really good upload. Longer video + commentary + drum and bass is so much better than the 2 minute videos you were uploading. A new fan could easily watch this and learn to love F1.
In all my years I've never seen any driver do what Jenson did that day.
To be honest the two hour stop was probably worse for those at the circuit than it was for us watching since it was crazy watching much rain fell and just how soaked the circuit was ... You could have swam a lap (maybe they should have). Plus there were replays, highlights, interviews, etc.
A great race that I'd love to watch again.
There is just something special about that car, i love the colors
I was on holiday when this race happened and I wasn't told what had happened until a couple of days later when someone said "he passed Seb on the last lap" and I remember saying "Now that's a race I'd have wanted to see." But looking back, I'm even more gutted that I didn't get to see it.
Good luck for the future outside of the sport of F1 Jenson, Thankyou for keeping us entertained throughout the years. ;-)
I miss Jenson so much
Looks Like He’s Playing F1 Mobile Easy Race
I remember watching that race so fondly.
I watched this with my dad and we both love JB, we were literally screaming at the telly on the last few corners. Brilliant!
Top 5 Canadian races for me are 1998, 2004, 2005, 2007 and this.
2008
Yes, 2008
That was my first race and it was the best thing I'd ever seen
Great race and a really well written and presented video about it . Peter Windsor is the only journo I hear / read who can describe f1 so eloquently . Give us more of these longer video's !
Canadian GP is always so interesting, it's unbelievable how 2015 race was not so great...
With these weather conditions, button in a class of his own. 👌 👍 👏 🏁
This was one of my favourite grand Prix's ever but it's funny on another level how many opponents jenson took out on his way to victory
The best modern day FI race I've seen. Jenson was EPIC!!
Help me! I can't stop watching this over and over.
That race was so exciting I was screaming by the end it was ridiculous
this race was unforgettable
That was a CRAZY race
Jenson Forever
I would love to watch this again in full
I watch F1 since 2005. when I was a kid, and after 12 and a half seasons and around 230 races I can say that this one was THE best !
What a win!
Greatest race I can remember. Probably the one that really got me into F1 :)
It was a school night but I didn’t care, this race will always be one of the best I’ve seen
And BTW the song playing is Gareth Johnson - Always At One
unbelievable.. he was send to the back of pack so many times and still wins it!
We miss you Jenson
i may have been 6 years old when I saw this race (turning 7 that July), but im so happy i got to see my fave win!!
The most underrated driver of the 2000s
I remember me, my brother and sister, mum & dad were all sat round the kitchen table at my mum & dads house and we all cheered when Vettel made mistake letting Jenson through, it's a good memory as we don't do that these days go round to mums to watch the Grand prix, it was brilliant when Button took the lead...
I'm definitely new to F1... started following it keenly in 2012, I think. I hear about this win by Jenson mentioned here and there during wet races, but man!! They definitely understate it, EPIC!!
I'd love to watch this...full race
What a thrilling race!
Memorable race
Amazing win in an amazing car. Gotta love the MP4/26.
This was the first F1 race I watched so of course Button has always been my favorite
Everything went wrong? Well, you took out Alo and Ham so that kinda made it a bit right for you
So you're saying it's fine to crash into your teammate? Not sure about that..
That was a great race to watch
My favourite race ☺
the best GP in last X years !!!
He is such a cool and smart driver
This race was amazing
My favorite driver and my favorite track, this was awesome
great great great Jenson! What an uforgettable Race!
Well done Jenson! you are the man!!!
Button. Its not over!🇬🇧🏁🇨🇦
jenson forever
Jenson is probably best wet weather driver in his generation
Still now
Lewis was overtaking him and he he forced him to the barriers, Lewis' retirement added to Jason's chances of winning the race...
lol
ok hammy fanboy , button I believe is an overall better driver than hamilton by the way , if he was at mercedes he would easily outscore him :)
Button has never been the qualifier, so I don't think so.. he's great in race pacing, but since he'll start behind Hamilton, I doubt he could overtake him in the same car
Amazin Job!
Button is a so good F1 driver when he has a fast and drivable car.
love this guy
when everything goes wrong, never give up!
Greatest Grand Prix I’ve ever seen
