- In the spirit of low percent challenges, I try a challenge where I must be bad at the game. Kinda like a low score challenge, but the difficulty is in managing pain and dodging points. This ended up being a lot harder than I thought...

I could argue that getting a D rank is harder than a P rank.
Depends on the circumstances surrounding the attempt I think.
Will pig city is hardest to d since he's first time through it at the end it showed 17 damage instead of 9

Tell me about it. I saw someone else D rank WAR, and they had to take so much damage to achieve a D, it nearly put me off from even attempting the level here.

Glad I got to watch parts of this one live. This turned out a lot more interesting than I would've thought, given how low the cutoff is in most of these stages. I've never seen this much effort put into playing like a game journalist before.

9:16 It's because you survived for 30 seconds after time was up. According to the Wiki if you don't start Lap 2 and survive for 30 seconds after "It's Pizza Time!" ends The Death That I Deservioli will automatically play. Almost as if the game is yelling at you to finish the bloody level.

at 9:17 the reason the lap 2 theme started playing (the death I deservioli) doesn't only play at lap 2 or the sound test secret, it also starts to play when Pizza face starts to chase!

In case you're confused why the Lap 2 theme played at around 9:14, then allow me to stop your confusion.
My theory is that the game thinks you should've either made it to the exit or hit the Lap 2 portal, so it just plays the Lap 2 theme, since you're still in the level.
that doesn't quite make sense? lap 2 starts when you go through the portal and that's what usually triggers the music
Ill have an explenation since i lag mostly in pizza tower.
So when timer hit 0:55 it start going to the pizza time song part that want you to go faster, and when the song is over theres little pause until theres lap 2 song, because either the dev dont want a silent chase of pizza head and you or just like the song name "the death i deservioli", is a song that death (aka pizzahead) will chase you, because you were too slow.
i think its just because room transition + pizza time part 2 queue glitched it
My theory is that it’s a fail safe feature incase death I deserveoli doesn’t load properly

I know you were trying not to swear with Oh Shit!'s level name, but "Oh Crap!" was right there _and_ still preserves the pun in the name.
That aside, EXCELLENT video, great work on it. My favorite thing about Pizza Tower is how the Toppins are the only progress blockers. Any time a game ranks your performance, it can get nerve-wracking because you assume at some point you're going to have to get high ranks to keep playing the game, but this video proves you can D- and C-rank your way all through Pizza Tower and still see credits, and I think that's very empowering to people who think a game like this would be "too hard" for them.

Imagine going for a d rank only run and when you got a d rank, it would instead play the p rank sound.
9:16 More likely than not it's the way the music works in this game.
PT uses FMod events to control when stuff happens. Basically, they put several tracks onto one "timeline" of sorts and assign them as specific events, as well as give them loop points if needed (which is why sometimes the loops sound off, the tracks don't have looping versions, they just get back to a specific point).
I don't know fmod that well but what happened there is probably after pizza time ended the music continued it's journey past the loop and eventually started to play lap 2 since it's also located in the same place just further.
Last time I actually looked into stuff like this was months ago so this is my educated guess at best, I am probably off about at least something.

It's not only possible to get D Ranks in every level, but also **0 POINTS** (except WAR, but it can be skipped). There used to be a glitch about it too, until it was patched by giving you 10 points if you ever do manage to do that
i think i saw that patch for another CZcamsr. basically so the level is actually considered completed

I Think the reason The Death I Deservioli started playing was because you spent so much time After Showtime Started the game either: A. Thought you went in the portal, or B. Needed to Play a song and The Death That I Deservioli is the Song that is Supposed to play AFTER Pizza time, so the game defaulted to it

I'd like to see if it's possible to beat, and maybe even unlock the new Secrets Of The World stage with a D-rank under these rules.
Looking at the update earlier today, there's no doubt in my mind that unlocking a new level would be possible since you don't have to complete levels to earn the pumpkins. But I'm not sure about the new stage at all (mostly because I haven't gotten to see it yet).
A trick for avoiding the tomato in John gutter is to crouch jump over it. Trust me, it works.

9:16 yeah, actually pretty obscure fact but if pizzaface spawns on lap 1 and you survive long enough lap 2 theme starts playing. I found this out accidentally a long time ago when I was playing around with letting the time run out the moment pillar john is destroyed as a jerryrigged lap 3 (this was within 2 weeks of the game launching lol, funny how time flies)

As much as I love Pizza Tower, this challenge is pretty much proof that the ranking system is is kinda broken. Out of the six possible ranks (D, C, B, A, S, P) the ostensibly good A is ridiculously easy to get, as all you need to do is finish the level while finding one or two secrets. The next rank is S, which requires you to find everything in the level, be good enough at the movement and combat to get decent combos, and practise this until you are good enough to do all if it in rapid succession and reach the end of Lap 2 alive. After that getting a P-rank is just grinding some more until you are able to do the same without making a single mistake.
In other words, the A-rank comes very early in the learning curve whereas S and P come very late, with no ranking measuring your progress in between.
That music glitch in Bloodsauce Dungeon...I have to guess it's to do with the Lap 2 portal being in that room. No clue what happened on that specific time beyond that, though; could be your momentum, I guess, or maybe your X-position? Can't see why it wouldn't activate before then if it's just based on you leaving the starting room. Then again, it happened in about the same way in Golf...

This was really fun to see, suprised you pushed through despite how painful it is! i couldn't even get past world 2 due to how just tedious the challenge. fun fact: if you hurt yourself enough, you can beat the level with all toppins with still a D, though it's really annoying and levels take almost 11 minutes!
Yeah... that is possible. But that also doesn't seem like a very interesting challenge, especially when most toppins are available before Pizza Time so time isn't a problem.

This was fun. I tired to do Pig city and it was super fun but a little easy. Other stages would be harder especially because the toppings are locked behind taxis that you don’t have to do it.
Pizza Tower: The only game where getting a D-rank (if you don't wanna go to hell) is as hard, if not harder than getting a P-Rank.

for some reason if the "it's pizza time!" theme finishes and doesn't loop then I assume the game checks if a song is playing and plays the lap 2 theme? idk I don't know how it handles this stuff
you can do some crazy stuff with debug in the tutorial level and set the panic time to 0 which will end the pizza time loop and eventually okay the lap 2 theme like it did here

I think you'd just have to program a rank below D and make the score to hit it be 1/3 of the way to it.

0 points may be easier to code, because there's a bug in the game where getting 0 points makes a level not even count as being beaten, thus making the clear % even lower. I tested 0 point runs in every level, and it's all possible, except WAR, but you can skip a level anyways.
