    This is a very good guide. I have been hesitant to watch any for fear of ruining the experience of discovering better methods of training, moneymaking etc, or spoiling the location discoveries. This is a perfect 'set you on your way with some bearings' guide without taking away from the beginner experience.

    This is like the most in depth guide ive ever seen for a beginner in kenshi. very nice, i personally mod in small stuff like starts or gear myself but it is very good advice to not use mods in the beginning.

    • @lechking941
      @lechking941 Před 7 měsíci +2

      ye, i personally kind of learn more then i ever want of a game by watching and can be hyper on control learning. so i jumped into mods mostly because like rimworld i knew what i wanted but also knew it would become a pile. naimly because i wanted a spacific skeleton favored but up a moutian with hostility like hated by 2 of the 3 big factions XD. as shure i could have token just a fat lazy greenlander in the HN turf start, group or solo but SCREW THAT. i know what i like and pain is the name of kenshi's first child, and im addicted to it. (given how many mods i often throw at rimworld its a god given i know pain because i love combat expanded)

      tbf its an amazing pathway for noobs to follow regardless. It gets them comfortable with the basics of the game, which is the point.
      Yeah sure i could train stealth to 75 in under 3 minutes irl minutes, break into Narkos trap, and loot everything to make 100k plus with minimal effort, but a noob doesnt know how to do that, and tbh shouldnt know how to do that. They need to actually play the game and learn it instead of exploiting it like us old min maxing fucks. Kenshi is at its most fun when youre not trying to abuse the systems.

    I have 900 hours and I have never even thought of starting out like that. I literally just go start a fight with the bar thug. Take his shit, sell it. Leave the hub, try to Agro a bandit or squad, lose them, then just sneak behind them cuz sneaking near enemies that have have a red icon when u hover over it gives you stealth skill in absurd quantities. Go to squin at night, try to break in. Use thievery xp cheese to power level it. Take expensive shit. Then leave and sell it off at the hub. By day 2 you could possibly have level 50 stealth, level 50 thievery, and over 20,000 cats.

    • @MartyrDumb
      @MartyrDumb  Před 7 měsíci +5

    • @murk336
      @murk336 Před 7 měsíci +2

      @@MartyrDumb haha yeah stealing robotic limbs is also ridiculous. I allied with the U.C and u can literally walk into the robotic workshop, attack the skeleton doctor run out, and the guards kill him for u. And on top of that, ignore you stealing all of his shit. I love Kenshi it truly is the best.

    • @declancampbell1277
      @declancampbell1277 Před 25 dny

      i mean thats kinda the point no? you have 900 hours, noobs dont. I do the same but instead of robbing squin i just go to narkos trap and you can net 100k instead. If you aggro the huge band of hungry bandits that spawn in skinners roam you can also level that stealth to about 75 in under 3 irl minutes.
      As a noob my experience is completely different though, and what we do to save time removes a core part of the early game experience that new players should experience. We probably have at least a dozen playthroughs under our belts, i myself have several hundred hours, but some of my most fun as a new player was struggling to survive, struggling to feed my guys, starting an outpost too early and getting absolutely ruined etc.
      This guide preserves the early game experience for noobs while also giving them a little headstart and explaining some mechanics, which is why i rate it so highly.

    20:14 Usually what I do is select both Medic first then do the rescue task afterwards, but if I have enough people and beds set up, I will sometimes set up some sort of "rescue" squads who are passive. Their only goal is to find and bring people back to a safer place, then heal them. I simply just set rescue first then medic afterwards. It's great when you have a decent amount of people, have a base laid down or some beds within a town, and live in dangerous places (pretty much everywhere tbh), because you can get your downed characters to a safer place to be healed up, saving you a bit more on resources and a potential death within your group. Keep in mind, that sometimes your "rescue" squad can get attacked while going into the heat of a battle, but that's why it's important to have multiple in the squad because if one gets attacked, another can simply fulfill the role for them. This is personally my go-to strat when assigning medical roles in this game, and it's usually recommended if you have roots in a place rather than being a wanderer. Also, another important thing about the "rescue" squad. Make sure they have a decent amount of strength. This is to keep them from being bogged down and taking forever to get the fallen character to safety, seeing how timing is everything when there's a life on the line. Keep this squad in light/no armor gear, and give them sandals or any other clothes that give a bonus in athletics.
    Sorry for the chunk of a paragraph, but I hope this can be useful for someone.

    Great video, well edited and paced - very entertaining! If you hold shift while right clicking, you can move a whole stack of items at once. You can also move an item from your inventory to another character by dragging the item to that character's portrait (also works with the stack move). Took me way too long to figure out this convenience so I figured I'd mention it here. For a mic upgrade, the Shure MV7X XLR and Scarlett 2i2 with XLR and USB 2.0 cables has worked well for me (you can also go with the non XLR version without the Scarlett for a more streamlined setup). Keep up the great vids :)

      Yeah because it appeals to weeaboos. It's honestly astonishing that an anime fan could be smart enough to make a game, even one with as many needless flaws as kenshi.

    about mods, what constitutes a "first playthrough?" is it exploring every area, fighting every boss or bounty, etc? ive started a few different playthroughs on kenshi, exploring a little more and a bit further every time, but still not too much around the fringes of the game. starting a new save on the new pc and i wanted to try kaizo bc im dreading going through all that too-familiar early game bs again. but if the "kenshi experience" is something i can still have ruined for me, maybe i'll just do a solo character "vanilla" run (im keeping the modded performance improvements) and visit everywhere i can since i usually get hung up on the base building and squad management side of things.

    Du contraire, when I first booted up Kenshi some 12+ months back I was perplexed by the menus, I didn't understand what was what everything was odd, so I quit and went back to Bannerlord.
    Now after 800 hours of selling horses then forging the best blades a worth the entire income of 1 small country each, and conquering Calrathis with both monetary means and steel, I have decided to do the same to Kenshi, Only i started my own Assassin's biro in every city I buy a house an send a agent there! Soon I will be able to kill all of the world Leaders and see the world plunge into chaos, then I want to see if either the Canibals or the Fogg men conquer it all!

      The name either comes from the town of Catun or from beloved leader of the second empire, I think it leads towards the second empire since its a more global currency.

    20:00 I've hit the 100hr mark in Kenshi today. And I never knew you could set your squad to run at the same speed. I've kept giving the "follow" job to all my squad, and selecting the slowest guy, and then sending him to a location.

    For the "No mods" run I am doing so, except, like, just have simple mods like Dark UI, a Map Mod to help me see what area is what, and some visual mods for my guy to look as I want him, like faces+ and idle stance animations and a replacer for the Longsword to look like a longsword and not a machete

    Damn. I've clocked like 100 hours by now, and I like watching Kenshi videos for other perspectives now that I've gotten some degree of expertise, but this opening credits roll is a bop. Am I about to watch a guide to a survival game, or play Yakuza Apocalypse?

    Hi I am a long time player and enjoyer of Kenshi and I recently got some friends into this game as well, I watched the first few minutes of your amazing guide but I would like to watch the rest with them. I would like to know though before showing them, are there any spoilers in the video? And if there are, are they marked? Thank you very much for the silliness

      Only what you would see as an average player picking the wonderer start, there are some areas shown in the background footage briefly like the swamp for example but nothing that would beat seeing it yourself.

    In regards to gaining toughness from standing while near enemies after a knockout, sometimes quickly playing dead and standing up again can be rapidly repeated a few times while they're still in range, which will give the same gain each time. I don't really recommend it for a first play because it's a little exploity, but not too terrible IMO.

    • @MartyrDumb
      @MartyrDumb  Před 5 měsíci

      Can you force the play dead? I know with enough toughness you can start to get up pretty rapidly in almost 10 second intervals just by getting hit as long as the damage isn't too high.

    Looking forward to kenshi 2.
    I lay awake at night hoping it’s even harder and everything sucks more.
    Also everyone talks about Beep but Ray is the better bug all day long.
    People sleep on solider drones but they scale as good a sheks and will eat trash you find on the ground.
    Very good boys you should try it.
