The Wood Common - a legendary UK CARP

This month see's me back on the historical Spitfire Pool in Norfolk, home of one of the finest carp in the UK, The Wood Common. It hasn't been on the bank for two years, but luck is on my side when it trips up at 9am on the 16th April. Weighing in at a lake record 53lb 4oz, it is without a doubt one of the finest carp of my career. The film features footage of the days leading up to its capture and the tactics I used to bank it. It also shows it being weighed and photographed, before being returned to its wonderful weedy home.

Well Simon. I have watched this before and loved it. I put it on again this morning (Boxing Day) for my 79 year old Mam and she absolutely loved it. When you lifted the Wood Common up she was flabergasted. So...thanks for entertaining me Mam!!!

Depends if the fish is known too come out on bait or naturals some will love a boilie some will avoid them at all costs that’s part of the puzzle you need too find out in that water or for that fish

Superb fish! Just a quick question, when casting your supple rigs.. do you use a foam nugget or pva stick to straighten your rig out on the drop? Ive found that the bait drops on top of the lead myself using foam!

I noticed that in the video you filmed a few seconds of a full moon then caught a huge common... I have had so many experiences and so have my fishing pals where big commons have been caught on a full moon. Too many for it to be a coincidence... do you think there is anything in this ??
