Should you buy the LTD EC-10 over the EC-256 for a beginner guitar?

The EC-10 is the perfect guitar for a beginner and I prefer it over the LTD EC-256 for a couple of reasons. The guitar is by far not the only thing you will need as a beginner. Hopefully this video will help you with how to choose your first electric guitar.

9:45 that hole is probably from drilling the wire chanel from neck cavity to bridge cavity.
11:43 those holes are to hang the tailpiece in the chrom galvanic bath, so the visible and functional rest of the piece is completely covered in chrome.😊
The EC-256 sounds way better to my taste. More melodic and with definition.
I love my EC-256 and it's pickups compared to the other guitar. The EC-10 it's good if you just a Metalhead Shredder but the 256 is more versatile.

true. i had a 256 for a few days but didnt like the pickups for metal. they sounded fuzzy and hollow with high gain. but they sounded good clean, and the coil tapping was really nice for playing clean.
@@ultimatesteve They do classic overdrive really well. I call my EC-256 the "Rocky Mountain Way" guitar. It's perfect for that kind of music.
@@waynepurcell6058 I actually just picked up another 256 to compliment my 401 with EMGs. This one's a b stock so I got it for 300, just a couple minor flaws in the polyurethane from what I can tell.

i had a 256 for a few days with some bad fret issues and a cobalt blue finish that looks more like seafoam green. returned it for a 401. aside from the issues though i didnt feel like the guitar was worth 600 dollars and i would have been better off with the ec-10. i ended up going with a 401 that was on sale and am happy with it, korean made and emg pickups.

@@GeorgeVGuitars the looks of the 256 and also the single coil capability of the 256. I was thinking of going with PRS. What is your opinion of the EC-256 vs a PRS SE Standard?
@@williamtaylor1433, Personally I am not a fan of PRS but I have heard good things about SE Standard from friends. I will try one out eventually.
If you're a beginner, I would also suggest to not get one with a floyd rose tremolo. You'll have enough of a headache learning how to play... don't add onto your troubles with all of the possible problems that can come with a floyd rose tremolo. I had a cheap Jackson JS Dinky with a floyd rose and after watching multiple videos on how to troubleshoot why it kept getting out of tune, and how getting one string in tune will get the other strings out of tune, I wasn't in the mood to practice anything after all of that lol.
If it's in your budget, get the best quality you can get. Less chance of having issues. Spend more time practicing and playing and less time driving yourself crazy.

@@GeorgeVGuitars Аз си взех онзи ден Харли Бентън Теле - ТЕ - 52 NA от Динакорд за 310лв.....пробвах сигурно 15 китари...имаше за по 4-5 бона(които никога не бих дал за тях...даже и за 1000 не се усещаха). Това Теле има усещане, като за 3000лв китара, а не за 300. Нямам думи......сега децата започват от 7 нагоре, а ние едно време започвахме от - 10. 😁

I just got this guitar. I’m intrigued by your advice of doing proper setup first. Can you give me some pointers how to go about it? Only thing I know is using adjustable rod to adjust string height on the fretboard.
Its not as easy as it sounds if you have never done it. Watch some videos about setting up tune-o-matic bridges.

What do you think about the LTD V-50 with LH-150 pickups? Is it a worthy option in our time?
Wow...100's are much way hotter than 150's. I did not know that. They are both ceramic but the difference is big. I have LTD VIPER FM100, as you said with proper setup, nice wires and good amp, its a winner.

didn't buy one quite yet!. i'm doing some more research. i'm looking for a lower output jazz like tone - and i think i heard that the -256 is matched better for that. i'm not into the high out put crunch stuff which i think the EC-10 is matched better. Really, your video review is incredible precise and very well done.! thank you for the work it takes to do one of these. helps us out a great deal. your advice for beginners is SPOT ON. hopefully the kids will pick up what you left them with- all the best - mike

no - still not sure what type of guitar i want. considering a strat at the moment. also the LTDs have a 42mm nut width i think - i need a little bigger since i have a 46mm nut on my acoustic. thanks for asking @@Yakikitsu

Един въпрос, понеже с конкретна причина стържа всичките ти ревюта - за един г/д начинаещ, който харесва доста музика, но най-вече метъл, кое би препоръчал измежду LTD EC-10 и EKO VL-480 ?
Радвам се, че ти харесва. Към какво клониш, повече ритъм или сола? EC-10 е една идея по-удобна за сола с 24-те прага и по-тънък гриф. Екото е класическата лес пол формула с 22 прага и сет нек. Най-добрият вариант е да дойдеш при мен в Мюзик Дивижън ако си от София и да видя, с кое се справяш по-естествено.
I’m currently looking to buy the EC10 but I’m also conflicted between the 256 and the EC10. This video is also helpful, I sort of consider myself a beginner but not really? I have played the acoustic on and off for about 20 years but I don’t really know any songs completely? I learn bits and then learn another song. I can play Under the Bridge, Plug in Baby by Muse. I guess what I’m asking, as someone who isn’t a complete beginner but new to electrics, would I be better getting the 256?
Absolutely, go for the 256 if you have played for that long. Speaking of Muse, not exactly related to the band but still in the 256 budget, check these out, amazing guitars!

Радвам се, че съм помогнал, братле. От години го обяснявам това на начинаещи и на няколко човека успях да спестя парите. Не се тревожи, както казах, няма грешен опит, така си научил от опит колко важен е усилвателя и че не може да се компенсира с китара и ефекти.
BEginners - buy a used Fender Mustang LT25 amp - used 70-90$ USD. great versitile amp

What do you suggest ec-10 or ec 256 show white?
As I said in the video - if you have the money for a good amp, I would always suggest getting the 256 over the 10

Man, your precise review made me confused. ESP LTD seems has a same assembly and hardware quality like Harley Benton but twice more expensive. Omg. What about Ibanez from this perspective?

ec-10 sounds and looks like a pice of shit, it's not even worth 300 bucks.
ec-256 obviously better in every aspect, BUT if you have 600$ - you can buy used ec-1000 (DELUXE), and it will be an investment, nobody is interested in cheap shit, so the EC-10\256 will become cheaper, which cannot be said about the deluxe.
I say this as someone who once had an LTD F-50, sold this pice of trash, and bought an EC-1000 vintage black EMG 2012, one year ago.
Buying the 10th series of LTD guitars - you pay for the garbage that says LTD. Buying 256 series - you get something like a quality instrument, but still pay a huge sum for the brand. And when you buy guitars of the 1000s series, you buy a really high-quality, professional instrument, on which you can learn to play, record, and go on tours. Such a guitar is a guitar on all your life, it does not have to be new from the store, used guitars are the most rational choice.
