    Arrau's admirable intellect and imagination was accompanied by humility and absolute integrity as shown in these interviews. He of course possessed a virtuoso technique, but it was never intrusive and always served the music .

    The last word on The Waldstein sonata opus 53 always belonged to this Maestro in my opinion. My father and myself heard him play The Emperor Concerto under Colin Davis at The Barbican … He was 85 years old. I will never forget that marvellous evening.
