Opening a vintage type can of Spam, something my young son has never seen before. It's along the lines of rotary phones...
OMG I am so stupid. Broke the "key" thing off thinking poor design. Used a can opener to butcher the can instead. Little bits of metal fell off onto the spam. Thanks for the help, haha.

I had tried to open it two weeks ago but thought I had broken the top piece meant to open it like other cans have on it....was beginning to panic. I had NO IDEA that this is what you were going to do. I have been grinning since then, as ridiculous as it may sound. Thank you soooooo much!

I much prefer the old key system to the pull top SPAM uses now. It made it much easier to get out of the can!
Next time you open a can of Spam, flip it over once you get the lid off and grab it by the narrow ends and squeeze those in, as you shake the can with a hard downward thrust.
Once or twice and the meat should pop right out.
That's how I do it and I used to have issues with the new style opener, too.

( I Know I Know Google Right Lol I’m 23yrs Old) So Then I Found This Video And Gained Confidence To Do It & Failed Miserably. I Spun It Around & The Key Broke A Piece Of The Can . So I Struggled With A Can Opener . For 20+ Minutes Just For My Father To Come & Open The Can With The Can Opener Making Me Feel Useless. Moral Of My Story Get My Dad To Open It.
@@shaamarie7173 corned beef and rice, perfection. well we've all broken the keys on this thing at least once, so you're not alone. i've had to open a number of these growing up with needle nose pliers pulling on whatever strip of the can I could because I couldn't even snap off the key the right way. the key thing is (no pun intended), you got your corned beef and rice. all is good.

Very hard in the US. Hawaii is your best bet in the US. You have a really good chance in Caribbean locations.
If you use the key but the key broke, dont use your hands. Made a lot of cuts on my hand.
Before watching this vid I spent my entire morning trying to smash up one of these things with my hammer
