Scadriel is the planet Mistborn takes place on. I think Elantris' planet is called Sel. And yes, perpendicularities in Shadesmar (the cognitive realm) are how world hopping happens 😊

Great review! I really liked this book for its emotional Stormlight-related punches and for how it managed to be a story confined to this planet, but set in the far future of the Cosmere. It’s also up there for me with Tress and Yumi, they’re all so different, I don’t know how I would rank them tbh :)
As others mentioned, Scadrial is where Scadrians are from and it’s the Mistborn planet. Also, yes, perpendicularities are a common method of getting from one planet to another planet through Shadesmar.
I also really liked the Threnody lore in this book! Have you read Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell?

I have not read those yet. I do own Arcanum unbounded so I plan on getting to everything eventually

The best source for Cosmere lore is The Coppermind Wiki, but you'll have to use the Time Machine feature to avoid spoilers. To save you the trouble here's a spoiler-free refresher on Cosmere lore as it relates to your video. The planet Roshar is where The Stormlight Archive series takes place. The planet Scadrial is where the Mistborn series takes place. There are three realms: Physical, Cognitive, and Spiritual. "Shadesmar" is another name for the Cognitive Realm. A perpendicularity is a bridge between realms. Various Cosmere books describe characters transitioning between the Physical and Cognitive realms and using the Cognitive Realm to travel between planets.
To appreciate the backstories of The Sunlit Man readers should have read at least the first couple books of The Stormlight Archive series and the short story Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell.
By the way, your mic setup doesn't look impressive, but it does sound impressive. Maybe it's just your great voice.

Thank you for this! It will help me decide what short stories to read first!
Yeah I am upgrading the mic situation slowly. Just got a mic stand and a pop filter so that should help the setup a bit

I've only read Mistborn era 1 and the first 2 Stormlights. I should be good?

I would say yeah you should be good! You should understand the magic system well enough, and they don't really spoil anything in stormlight

Yeah, you will probably miss a few references if you haven't read mistborn era 2 and shadows for silence in the forests of hell, but I think you can still definitely follow what's going on.

I enjoyed this book. I read mistborn final empire, stormlight, shadows for silence. I recommend you read shadows for silence before you read this book.

Reading Dawnshard first would help, but that might spoil things for Oathbringer, so there's that. I wouldn't worry too much, with what you've read the stuff that will go over your head is mostly little nods and easter eggs for super-fans.

I recommend reading the short story Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell before The Sunlit Man. It enhances your understanding of the locals.
