I noticed you had inside starter awesome...
Love this !!!! This is amazing
Awesome thanks!!
What great little planes these are.
Nice flight! I've been looking at buying a Taylorcraft.
My father is the owner of Taylorcraft we’re located here in Brownsville Texas. We’re trying to bring it back to life
Lacy, definitely the next CZcams aviation SUPERSTAR! You go girl! Love it and Great video! And, I got to see the new Taylor Craft! Sweet!
I've the same T-craft for 40 years, I flew it from Alaska to michigan in 1981and all over michigan one Of the trips ever , I sitll fly it on floats, been all over Alaska
Just live watching the Stinson making 3 wheel landings!!
It likes to 3 point if you fly the approach correctly. Such a gentel airplane.
Really nice T-Stick, but I think I like that sassy Lacy a whole lot more, and I happen to love T-Crafts!!!!! Wowster!!
Please remember to bee respectful. Lacy is a great pilot. She is also a mother and a wife. I agree she was a little sassy talking about her takeoff.
@@GreatMichiganBushCo No disrespect intended at all. I was kind of impressed by her.
This was good content, my Dad's first commercial flight was in a Stinson 108 on floats in 1957 Yellowknife and he flew his friends 1946 Taylorcraft to build up hours, interesting thx.
Thanks for watching! A 108 on floats would be a great plane! Flying around Yellowknife... Even better.
Love the Stinson! Back in 1978, I owed a 108-2. It flew great and was fun to fly. I remember how good the roll rate was.
At 60 mph due to the slots in front of the ailerons, roll was like a 172 at 120mph! One problem was the vibration range for the prop. Think it was between 2150 and 2350 rpm. Because of this, I had to cruise at 2400 that consumed 11 g.p.h. At .89/gallon, it was costing me over $10/ hour to fly! Because of this, I went back to a Champ (I was working for 4.50/hr. as an A&P) . I always thought that putting a 180 Lycoming in that plane would have been the ultimate solution.
If you fly at any lower RPM even with a wood prop the cylinders have problems. The Franklin like to run wide open. Old engine technology. I am looking to replace with a Lycomong.
I love Taylorcrafts
T-Crate is beautiful.
That is a great airplane. Some folks don't spend the time to care for these old machines as they should be cared for.
Am just a little curious as to how you have a postwar BC-12D (The N-number, fin/rudder and panel layout all bear that out) that appears to have the prewar door ... i.e. pentagonal not trapezoidal. It isn't like the two were interchangeable. (Is it also plywood?) Also next re-covering (note the hyphen; I seem to be the only aircraft-owner who knows what it's for) you might look into a "D" (stamped frame) rear window. Weren't they standard on all first-gen postwar T's?
And btw love the skylight! If could I would get one for my '41. Thanks for the video. Always great to see one in flight.
Bill Fife I also have a 46 Taylorcraft bc12d with the same exact tube door with swing out window as hers.
@@GreatMichiganBushCo Thank you! Well I know mine, anyway. Love the plywood doors and the solid feel they give. Never knew why they weren't continued on the -12D. (Aren't the tube doors fabric covered?) But all the documented photos I've seen of postwars show the modified (trapezoidal) door that exposes the tubing running diagonally across the bottom instead of being enclosed by the frame. Personally though I can see why some might prefer the original one... or at least a tube one of that shape. Not every wartime mod (IMO) was an improvement.
It's serendipity!
Kinda off-topic, but not really?
I've built a 1/6 scale (56"span) R/C model of a clipped-wing Taylorcraft. Test flights to begin at my discretion.
Meanwhile, I'm building a 1/10 scale Stinson Voyager for some electric park flying fun.
So, this is gravy for me.
Stay safe and keep 'em flyin'!
You should come check out ray Community Airport 57D. It’s a nice little airport!
Lacy's plane is beautifully restored. What would be the useful load in such craft?
That looked like a nice day of flying! Love the Taylorcraft...What is the pitch on your prop for the Stinson? I recently acquired a -2 and was thinking of re-pitching to 49 from 51...
I learned how to fly ppg there with Flymippg.
The T craft has a great wing for lift.....
Yes. The Cub was really nice but when Taylor left he knew how to make it better.
I have a T-Craft and an L2 project that I am putting back together.
Still trying to get info on the L2 so i can weld the fuselage back together.
The L2 is such a classic airplane. There is something about a warbird even if its based off a civilian aircraft.
I fly out of Y70 Ionia
Lacy can fly my C-140 anytime...very good pilot !
She's alright. We are not a sexist group, if she couldn't fly well we wouldn't invite her out to play.
More T-Craft!
A lot of people want to see more of the T-craft. It's inspiring me to fix mine up
Great Michigan Bush Co. You’ve got a T-Craft? I just bought one and am learning to fly it. Will be adding it to my adventures on the “Big Orange Bird” channel soon!
@@alanwhite588 No. I'm talking about cleaning up the Stinson a bitmore.
@GreatMichiganBushCo my father owns Taylorcraft. We’re located in Brownsville, Texas would like to get in contact with you sometime
need the have the class of pilot //to fly Piper Club J3 ? lowest class of pilot license needed /
Find a Lady that likes flying machines more than you do and keep her happy.
That advice would have been nice to know a long time ago, right?
Don’t make the same mistake young aviators. If she doesn’t fly she’s not for you ;-)
Look at my plane look at the girl look at me
The plane and the girl are kinda cool, don't look at me I'm just boring.
What is this channel? Guy with airplane goes to someplace & picks up strange pilot to fly his plane? It's an unusual channel concept....
Never thought about it that way before. This was the first time I met Lacy. I probably shouldn't go around picking up strange women at airports.
@@GreatMichiganBushCo next thing you know, you could find yourself "DB Cooper"'d out of your own airplane.
Less the bag of unmarked bills.
And the parachute.
Bah, ridiculous. Forget I said anything.
Sleep tight!
This gave me a chuckle. I'm sure it wouldn't have been given a thought had she been male and interested in the learning the Stinson.
@@lacypollard7382 I don't think that swapping out the female Guest Pilot with a male GP would make a difference. Must be some backstory to the vid that I missed, and I watched with the wrong expectation....
If it’s so simple then let her fly her way. The way you sound it’s like you’re telling someone how to do your wife.
I guess because you give instruction when someone is in a new type, even if its easy.
My dad had a 1946 BC12D....N43140. Flew with him many times as a kid in the mid 60s. Dad passed in 74 and the Tcraft went to Alaska where it is today. I ran the N number and got the address of the owner.... sent a letter about the status of the plane about 5 years ago....never heard back from them.....lots of memories watching this vid....thanks for the post
Where did you find the address. I would like to contact the owner of the 46 I used to fly. Thanks
