  • Birth of the CARPENTER ANTS: After the beautiful rise to glory of my fire ant colony, the Phoenix Empire, I sought out a brand new starting carpenter ant colony to begin a new story of ant wonder. In this episode we meet our young carpenter ant queen and her brood, and have a look at all the unique jobs already taking place within the colony's test tube setup. The footage captured in this video is truly cute, eye-opening, and magical all at once. Hope you enjoy the humble beginnings of an ant colony, as we welcome them to our growing Antiverse. Ant love forever! This video was shot in 4K Ultra HD resolution. #CarpenterAnts #QueenAnt #AntColony

Ants have just managed to evolve at a size relative to the rest of the animal kingdom that allows them to grow as a colony very quickly. Most larger creatures barely pay ants any mind and there's so much untouched earth that ants have had plenty of space to thrive. They've had over 140 million years of development.

How about for the queen we can call her Queen Juniper. Junipers are coniferous trees and shrubs in the genus Juniperus /dʒuːˈnɪpərəs/[1] of the cypress family Cupressaceae. Depending on taxonomic viewpoint, between 50 and 67 species of junipers are widely distributed throughout the Northern Hemisphere, from the Arctic, south to tropical Africa, from Ziarat, Pakistan, east to eastern Tibet in the Old World, and in the mountains of Central America. The highest-known juniper forest occurs at an altitude of 16,000 ft (4,900 m) in southeastern Tibet and the northern Himalayas, creating one of the highest tree-lines on earth. Yes that is copy pasted from the Wikipedia page.

How about the Woodcutting Guild? A colony named after something in Old School Runescape would be pretty cool! Or The Lumberjacks? I mean you ARE AntsCanada, Lumberjacks is more fitting
As for the queen's name, Lumberjill? That's the term for a female lumberjack. Or Madera, which is Spanish for wood, I think it sounds pretty for the name of a queen

Yes in 10:28 you can see one very big mite on the upper workers chin. I don’t know if it’s dangerous. It seems to have well developed legs and therefore can probably walk on its own wich makes it less likely to be parasitic (at least in the state we see it here, but maybe it just didn’t attach to the ant yet). It’s definitely not the species the golden empire is infested with. Maybe it’s just eating waste and accidentally crawled on the ant? In that case it would even be beneficial, but I don’t know.
Does anyone know wich species this is and if they are a problem?
