The Traxxas X-Maxx 1/5 scale Electric 4x4 vs an HPI Hot Wheels Savage Flux HP - Extended Chassis! What a match up.. and being that the X-Maxx is SO NEW on the market at the time of this filming.. this is sure to be an awesome standoff! What a crazy amount of warm weather we have been having as of late.. usually, this terrain is frozen solid, and is minus 20 degrees in February! This warm weather has us all out playing, no matter the size of your 4x4! Fun and Sun mixed with an icy snow trail.. and sloppy mud.. can we ask for anything more?!

Joseph Boersma You dont need expensive truck yet. Try buy inexpensive truck like from Wltoy. I bought Wltoy l969. It a waterproof 2wd 360brushed motor and can go about 35km. Really good truck for begginer and the truck is upgradeable too. Have really good time with that truck, jumping in dirt and drifting on tarmac .
Buy a wl toys like the other guy said that's what I had before my slash I had the one that looks like and e revo

Is it worth to convert a 2006 revo nitro to electric? Or keep it nitro? Is nitro dead?
snowcat Nitro is definetly out performed by an electric revo with 2x3cell lipos. It is probably more cost effective in just buying a new erevo as it will have fresh bearings and plastics, as well as a better built transmission for the brushless system. And as you can see in this video, the Xmaxx with TSM handles loose terrain much better with the nicer transmitter/receiver and built in gyro that keeps the car straight. That can also be disabled in less than a second on the controller if you like to do doughnuts of want a challenge.
snowcat As for what batteries you want to use, if you want to be stupid fast, get 2x3 cell lipos, but expect increase wear and tear, as well as hitting things faster doesn't help. The 2x2 cells are a lot easier to handle. Brand Id recommend is lectron pro by commonsenserc.
Last thing, if you are possibly considering the slower but much larger XMaxx, now may be the time, because they are running a good deal with a free dual charger ~$100 value. Not top of the line but still worth considering to spice the deal.

Everett's truck definitely looks better and is definitely faster. But I'd take the X-Maxx, as it seems to be more durable, and I like the bigger size. (great for grass) I don't even mind that it tops out at 30 mph; that's fast enough for me. I, for one, am refreshed to see them not mentioning the "big pinion, big battery, pavement, up to xxx mph" speed on the box. That's not what MTs should be about.
Also, why in God's name has Everett not waterproofed that truck yet? For the amount of times he's fried receivers and servos, and for the amount of times you guys drive through mud and snow melt puddles, it seems like a no-brainer. Lay off the aluminum bits and waterproof the damn thing already! Even a half-hearted attempt like balloons and zip ties would probably save him hundreds of bucks.
