Based on the DC/Vertigo "Hellblazer" comics.

I absolutely love this scene. I always wondered why the possessed man was so nervous and confused, and this scene answers that question brilliantly. John is astrally projecting himself backward in time and surfing his way closer and closer to the present. The possessed man can sense John's intrusion, but doesn't have any idea what's actually going on until John reaches the very instant of the present where the astral/psychic distance between them is at its lowest point, allowing him to reach out and attack. One little detail I've always liked is how the color grading starts off orange and gradually gets more and more green as John catches up to the present.
Pretty sure it starts out orange because they are in Mexico. Duh.
@@k3rr3k LOL
very good deduction cheers !!!
No! Is just a fantasy movie so director can make things go whatever he wants!
@@1tokeoverMéxico is always greenish lol
The way Keanu says "yeaaaahh....." is very distinct.
the same ‘yeahhhh’ used in John Wick too…..😅
yeah I'm thinking I'm black
Iconic.
Yep that typical lazy acting
36 years "young" and dont give af. I would say that lol
The offering of 'a little flavor', and then the absolute 0 hesitation between, "you sure about this?"..."no".. and then Papa Midnight just blasts him, is the type of trust that only true bros can understand.
I really like that part!
I like how space and time is irrelevant in that state. Constantine used the chair in the present, and was able to see the possessed guy's activities in the past but somehow the possessed guy can sense his presence there.
And midnight grabbed the demons arms pulled them off Jon then dragged him back . Hopefully in the new one there making we see more of his powers
@@jontodd5462amazing
I don't quite think so. By the moment John sees the possessed scavenger in the hospital, it is the present (which we know because of the presence of guarding demons in the hospital and the fact that Angela is shown to be dropped to the hospital's pool AFTER John and Chas has left the club). I Think the ritual does exactly what it's meant to do: To help the mage amplify their psychic powers to break the barrier and "surf" or swim up the timestream to the most recent past (facing the rising sun at the East, as you will) up to the point of present (washed ashore), which is where Mammon feels his presence and tries to capture John which prompts him to ask for a more powerful mage to save him (yank him out of water).
@@kennethhwang3425 Dude watch again 1:37. It's the part where John was staring behind the possessed guy who just dug the spear. Remember the first scene in this movie where the possessed found the spear then suddenly held it close to him and looks behind panicked like someone was watching him. It was revealed in this scene that it was John who was watching. You can see it in most instances in this clip where the possessed guy will look behind, confused like he's being stalked. Finally the hospital scene, it's in the present so he was able to catch John because their timeline is matched.
Pretty much how it works irl, wish i could explain
"Definitely mostly not about the girl."
Such a great line.
Mostly about: they killed his dog and stole his car.
The only reference to the guilt he holds about that incident in Newcastle. In this film.
@@PhilDrury They were talking about Angela, not Astra. Although in the novelization, it reveals the Newcastle Incident still happened and the Newcastle crew all died in the same that they did in Hellblazer.
"I dont believe in the Devil"
"Well you should, He believes in you! "
Yep.
Yeah let's quote things that have nothing to do with the video being watched just to get attention...
@@RedTail1-1It's a line from the movie, bruh. Calm tf down.
@@RedTail1-1 I found the 12 year old
So many things about this movie really gave that nice occult feeling. The tattoos John has to bring out unseen entities, the piece of Moses' cloak, using the chair to see events that have transpired regarding the supernatural and etc. It's all really sick
Nice occult feeling……??????
some people are into that kind of stuff, and it could have also been a little ironic funny@@GORT70
Yeah, too many magic systems feel like science these days, super energy doing super things, but this feels distinctly surreal in ways other stories don't.
Where is Moses' cloak ?
00:12 : classic Keanu “Yeah”
My favourite scene in a movie of great scenes. As much as this is Keanu's move Djimon steals this one. "Little flava?' I still use that one for my close friends to this day.
#Szellemlovas #Cryptoryder ❤
IKR!!!!...ever since I heard that line I mention it to my friends when I offer them a drink...🤣🤣🤣
We are getting a sequel guys.
Hell yeah.
Lol nice pun
@@moonknight4053 Look into my eyes, feel the pain.
how you know?
If it is true, the sequel will be something entirely out of fan service purposes, exactly like Matrix 4. So, expect garbage, like all fan service is.
You better not be kidin
One thing I love about this movie is the camera angles. That simple moment "which way is east" and we only see Midnight from the chest down casually point the direction. And the revisit to that first scene where the scavenger finds the spear and turns as if he senses someone is nearby watching. Great directing.
it's got a very David Fincher vibe to it
Lol love that look Midnite gives him when he says "definitely _mostly_ not about the girl."
😆 Yeah. I thought that look was classic too. The kind of look that two old friends would give each other, especially when one of them is clearly bullshiting. 😂😂
Constantine and John Wick same “yeah” the same way 😂
A breath of fresh air in a genre that tends to get reduced to sloppy, disjointed nonsense, Constantine is remarkably atmospheric and well made. It also has a plot that is actually interesting with multi dimensional characters and a great cast that creates some truly memorable scenes. Remarkably, it was the directors debut title, and his best work to date afaik. The critics didn't agree with me at all though, and typically stated the opposite of what I thought. I have no idea what that is about. According to them Constantine was a bit of a failure, whereas Black Panther for example was a masterpiece. Go figure.
Its because they don't like movies showing how the occult and satanic things work in real life.. the despise it.. just check how they treat the new movie called Nefarious 2023, hollyweird critics hate it and its a masterpiece
@@vramronald "how the occult and satanic things work in real life"
Do you mean how some people THINKs it works in real life? Its based on thing in the real world that are also make believe.
That would be like saying a Christmas movie got bad reviews because it portrayed how Santa Claus works in rea life. No one cares how something that's already not real to begin with is portrayed.
@@vramronaldIt's based off of some esoteric beliefs but generally its fiction LOL. Just like The Prophecy... you've got to see it as a Christianity fanfic, not the actual occult.
@@SweetZombiJesus What I think @vramronald meant is that they believe the occult/satanic elements of the movie were portrayed relatively more accurately than in some other films.
Often creators of movies in the horror genre will take things from lore about the occult, etc, and then seriously misconstrue it, dumb it down, or completely change it up because they think what they're doing with it will work better, or they simply don't care to be accurate to the lore, even when it might prove to make the movie that much better.
Of course, being 100% true to lore isn't always the best move for a film or other media. As a famous author once said, "First get your facts straight. Then distort them at your leisure." If a creator is able to really understand the lore that they're pulling from, then they can change what they need in order to make it work in service of what they're creating.
"Constantine was able to discern what was going on..... with a box of scraps!"
They need to bring back all the actors and actresses
... too old these days.
@@hycron1234 Man, I don't think Shia is getting work these days. Plus he took over Gab's rank in the after credit scene. Now he's tatted up and looking sequel worthy for sure!
@@hycron1234 nope Francis Lawrence said in Constantine universe the characters age in real time and they're planning on doing a much older john Constantine. he said it in a recent interview
Keanu tends to bring back old friends from the original movies.
John Constantine in Wick-verse be like:
Midnight: “John”
John: “Midnight”
Midnight: "You working?"
John: "Yeah."
I'd love to see a prequel with John and Midnite in their younger days.
I really hope they bring every bit of detail back for the second movie. That and the phenomenal graphics.
There’s a second movie?
@@Al-ok1ljif it's taking this long to do a 2nd one, it's very unlikely that they intended to have one. More likely someone sees a way to cash in on Keanu Reeves's name. Like with the 4th matrix movie and the ever-present john wicks.
@@davecrupel2817 literally that
It got the same director but no else in the 2nd movie
They need to bring back all the actors and actresses. "Definitely mostly not about the girl." Such a great line..
This movie is top notch!Visual striking the plot the cast are all great!!❤
How did I miss this ? One of my favorite characters played by one of my favorite actors ? Mandela effect is strong today it seems.
What a cool scene!
Such an amazing movie. The one movie that Keanu said he would enjoy making a sequel for. Let's hope someone does something about that.
I would love to see Keanu in a new Constantine film.
I watched this movie in cinema in 2005. Great experience.
Midnight asked Constantine if he was sure about this, but went ahead with it anyway...🤣🤣🤣
This is one of my most favorite movies from my past.
“John once killed 3 demons with one cigarette..
ONE FREAKING CIGARETTE!!!”
Constantine cool character also my favorite characters in DC superhero 👈👍👏💯. I definitely love Constantine
love how east was literally the right side of the screen when he asked
The way he says “yea” is so John wick
Underrated movie.
this film so needed another!
How powerful was midnight?
Midnight is a powerful individual and know a great deal on the dark arts and he did made a pack with the demon Constantine fought 🙏✌
He is legba.
Powerful enough to takeover New York City's magic community
Constantine 2 Wich is set to come out should shed more light .
He dont need to sleep every midnight
Papa midnight was a cool guy
Hope he returns in part 2.
yeah he was
Been a while since i had to up the video speed :) nice.
Filmaço show
This was a pretty good movie. Not a great movie about John Constantine but still good overall.
Call Warehouse 13 ! Midnight Chair : Snag it ! Bag it ! Tag it !
“Tell me this isn’t about the girl.”
“Definitely…*mostly*…not about the girl.” 😜
I hope they bring back midnight. It'd be insane if they got shia
I agree. They need to bring back Papa Midnight.
I noticed that I really didn’t put together correctly. When he does this, we are seeing what the guys was sensing and possibly seeing around him as he took the spear to the hospital
The small detail I never noticed and was midnight pulls Johns hands off his own neck lol hmmmmmmm
Favorite actor keanu
Wow does this scene hold up well at 18 years old.
I wonder if you could still do that light bulb trick with LED lights nowadays. I saw this in theaters with my dad, so much fun. RIP dad 2022
Far from a perfect movie but what they did right they did really well
Best Constantine Ever!! Can’t wait for the new one. 😊
Superb scene
I love this Movie
When john wick requires alternative techniques
his iconic yeaaaaahhh before john wick
This was unexpectedly a good movie
John is somewhat on his own quest.
Can't do this kinda traveling with socks on. What would the locals think? Keanu has cool down to a science. Guess fighting demons has a way of taking away one's joy. At least for the moment. Angela played by Rachel is quite beautiful. Although she's not in this clip, she's unforgettable.
It was a simulation of near-death-experience to get Constantine in an express astral projection. They chose an electric chair because with the water and an electric current, Midnight could shock Constantine's feet. Thus the bare feet :p
I forget if papa midnight dies in the first one. I still hope they bring him back in the sequel.
So what exactly was the Chair?? Did having so many people die sitting in it turn it into some kind of spiritual focus??
The chair was used for prisoners on death row. Because so many people died in it, it became a portal to the underworld.
@@bondrewdthenovel3598 got d@mn
I appreciate the explanation. "Little flavour?" *passes bottle*
It's a former electric chair. Two hundred souls died in it in Sing-Sing prison making it a potent means of Astral projection due to its connection with death.
Its also tied with the method they used to get John on an express astral projection state, which would usually require meditation. Instead, Midnight electrocutes John with water and current and brings him to a near death experience.
Breathtaking ❤
Such a good film
When John Wick was on his Prime
Amazing scene🔥✨
For those who think keanu doesnt age… you havent been paying attention.
I once saw John exorcise three demons with a pencil...with a fuckin pencil
Movie was stylish af
Can you upload the scene of John meeting Gabriel for the first time in 4K?
kinda ironic how he played this role so far before john wick and ended up being named john in both almost like they saw this saw his acting and said Fuck it thats our john wick.
Are you sure about this. No
In this iteration of the matrix...
papa midnight
They shud do prequel or sequel of this fantastic movie
To think that's the chair Albert Fish died in.
Eu não trânsito por esse mundo... só dá quinta dimensão para cima.
Papa Smack?!?!?!?! Papa Black.
The video title is wrong. The chair is called 'Old Sparky'... The club owner and Johns friend is called Papa Midnight.

The chair
a lot of questions and lore about this movie 😭😭😭

I always thought it was badass how Midnight took the dude off him and brought him back.
Watch it again, but slowly. It was actually Midnight removing John's own hands around his neck.

A little flavor?
My favourite line in the whole movie, me and my brother would say it all the time! Not sure if it was scripted, But I love Djimon's delivery!!!
That Sing Sing chair killed most of Murder Inc.
I'd guess it's not the same chair, though.
Am I the only one who was tripping and thought that was Shah Rukh Khan in the thumbnail image?
that must have tickled
You working again, john?
ok but whats the neutralizers name again
Special effects tend to create a false expectation, rendering the real-life experience considerably less credible, albeit infinitely more dangerous, precisely for this reason.
Neeeerd
It's bigger than I remember...pff haha!
But we are to the demons we're just doorways to them they can work as they can possess us but they cannot come through to our world because it's impossible for them to cross over they can't cross over
Not yet.
@@bonak1993 no it's true they can't cross over
MIDNIGHT!!!!!!
If Midnight use a light bulb John was really electrocuted
Nah, Midnight had to break the bulb to expose the current. That is how, by connecting the current with the water and John's feet, he was electeocuted.
Are dreams linked to that space - time irregular phenomena? I've had dreams about my future.
@@achannel7553 hey thanks for that, really appreciated.
There may be two phenomenon involved. One may be you have precognition power, which means your subconscious can generate a very precise simulation of the most likely outcome of the future. The other may be that you are receiving visions and data from other entities while you sleep, about the future. In both cases, I would tell you that the future is never written on stone, and to beware what visions you chose to believe.
It could also be a very imaginative brain, nothing out of the normal lol.
I like how almost every spell in this movie is physically demanding. Either the host has to use artifacts and relics to carry out a spell, or an offering is to be made to bring about magic. In both cases it leaves the host vulnerable and physically exhausted. Constantine goes through this painful process of astral projection just to see where the demon is headed and nearly gets killed in action. Real hardcore occult shit ☠️
Whereas Doctor Strange just needs to read a book on Astral Projection and voila 👻!
Vertigo Comics 'warning us even before doing the spell' and indulging in the occult, unlike their Marvel counterpart 😂
We need a sequel man 💀 WB needs to make this happen!
The chair, is old sparkey
