"バルカンの星の下で"/"Barukan no hoshi no shita de" (Under the Balkan Stars) is the Japanese version of the famous Soviet-Bulgarian friendship song "Под звёздами Балканскими"/"Pod zvyozdami Balkanskimi." The Soviet hymn, composed by Matvey Blanter (Матвей Блантер) and written by Mikhail Isakovsky (Михаил Исаковский), was created in 1944 during the liberation of Bulgaria by the Red Army, and has become a renowned hymn ever since. This Japanese version was translated by the "Katyusha" (カチューシャ) Orchestra, and performed by Akira Wakayama (若山彰).
