      @@hybrid32494 Hey I think mine is broke. When I roll it on the floor and hold the shaft it stops spinning. I bought it used the slipper clutch was so tight they broke a clutch plate. I drive it because of the stripped spur gear and the clutch. If I send a video can you please check it out? I bought it for my son used it was supposed to need a shock that's it. But a 2wd stampede Vxl with ez peak plus and a nimh.

    Make sure you have the 2 washers installed. One on each side of the gear. That takes up the slack in the shaft and keeps the pin in the slot on the gear. The idler gear has 2 washers also. 1 on each side. That’s how my new one is set up in 2022. Hope this helps someone.

    Perfect ! I had the same problem, it happened a 2nd time to my Slash...Sooo...Here's the permanent fix. Clean the shaft/gear and roll pin thoroughly (brake Kleen/Acetone/), try using a small socket to tap/ push the gear down about 1/4", clean the shaft,roll pin, and roll pin hole thoroughly, make sure no grease/oil anywhere. Put one drop of RED loctite in roll pin hole and one drop on the shaft, re-seat the gear and roll pin and re-assemble. Don't worry !! It can be dis-assembled , if need be. The trick to removing RED Loctite is patience, a little heat or Acetone to let it soak, then can be removed. Since I did this, I haven't had it happen again and it's been months. Thanks for posting this ! Hope my fix helps too. RED Loctite is VERY strong, but great for press fit METAL parts that may have tolerance issues. Just don't use it on any screws/plastic that may have to be removed at some point. The BLUE Loctite is great for almost any other parts that come loose on your car and is made to be removable. The KEY to using ANY Loctite is to be sure the parts are absolutely clean and degreased before applying it.

      @hybrid32494  Před 5 lety +2

      you must have had a slightly faulty original piece. Mine broke twice so far, but I am also running a 6700 KV castle motor and 2 or 3 S power.

    • @rcsendandblast1579
      @rcsendandblast1579 Před 5 lety

      hybrid32494 I doubt it was faulty. I was told that is the weakest link in the transmission design to break. Hence it's a shear pin.
      Why it is soooo soft is beyond me but now this drill bit won't break just cause damage down the line once it goes boom and the pin jammes into spooled up gears.

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  Před 6 lety +2

      it don't matter if you added loctite I think, it won't help much anyway. We both run our slash with too much power and too much motor (in my case). Thats prob why this happens. You should be ok for a while, As long as the pin itself does not snap (like mine once did). IF it does you will need the full traxxas input shaft with roll pin. (cost like 4 bucks).

I don't have a LHS so need to order a shaft for delivery and it's a long weekend here :-/. Before I strip this down can anyone tell be if the roll pin is a similar size to a wheel hex pin? Also you could lower the punch settings on the ESC to reduce some of the initial drivetrain shock. I normally run about 50% punch, makes it much more drivable, but ofcourse almost no wheelies off the line.

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  Před 5 lety +2

      hey!! thanks for watching! So these models along with all hobby grade rcs have a differential. Since it's an open gear diff you will always experience this. This is normal. If you push down on the car and spin the spur gear with your finger you will notice that only at this point will both of the wheels spin together and create traction. Unless you get a locked diff, it will always be life this.

    • @thercdude9382
      @thercdude9382 Před 5 lety +1

      @@hybrid32494 okay. Also when I hold the rear end down to the ground it feels normal (I don't know how to explain it) and if I do full throttle it makes a very faint click noise and it sounds like a gear almost. I will take apart the transmission later and check the gears. Also your videos are very informational and I like them alot and the humor. Also the old rcs you buy off eBay, one day I plan on building from a roller and up. One day.......

    • @thercdude9382
      @thercdude9382 Před 5 lety +1

      Also when I push the truck forward the diffs make a clunking sound. Not to sure if it was like that when I got it . Also got it used for 200 with everything except the original box. I could have gotton a nitro speed a6 or something for just 50 less and was MINT and came with few tanks of gas. Couldn't believe it.. too bad

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  Před 5 lety +1

      Is the car you're referring to a 2WD slash? or is it a 4WD slash? Eitherway, first check to make sure your slipper clutch is not loose. Just tighten it up with the nut on the spur gear shaft itself. That might solve it. It's pretty rare to have a 2WD slash with a stripped diff, but it happens.

    I have a 1/10 slash VXL and when I drive in loose dirt and wet dirt I get a NASTY grinding in the rear end. And I can't place it.
    It only happens after a spin in the dirt then I pick up the cars back wheels and spin it up fast and the grinding/ knocks go away.
    Any ideas Bro.
    Have u had this happen to your slash.
    I would love to know why it happens and if it is normal or not.

      hey buddy!!! it sounds like you need to check your gear mesh with the spur and pinion gear. Have you done this? Usually small dirt like sand and stuff will get in there and make grinding noises, Try to put some WD-40 on the spur as well. Usually this is always the case, let me know if this helps.

    • @rcsendandblast1579
      @rcsendandblast1579 Před 6 lety

      hybrid32494 okay so if I said there was a set plate to set the spacing for the spur and pinion. And yes the spacing is tight as heck andbit can not be loosened up.
      Unless that spacer comes out to allow gear mesh adjustments.
      So the right gear is chewing up dirt. An it goes away when I full the throttle full blast.
      I can see that.
      Thanks for the more clear direction to look at what is causing this to happen.
      Thanks bigtime bro.
      If I fix the issue with your advice I will DEFINITELY give you the Credit all over CZcams. ❤️👊😎

    • @rcsendandblast1579
      @rcsendandblast1579 Před 6 lety +1

      Yes I did check and the spacer holds the pinion tight as heck. But how does dirt get in there.
      It was as clean as clean can be inside the slipper Case.
      So I am at a loss as to why this is happening.

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  Před 6 lety +2

      you need to do some baseline testing. I recommend you remove the spur cover in the back, and full throttle with the wheels of the ground before you get it dirty. There should not be any grinding with this controlled test. When you put the cover back on, make sure it's screwed on tightly and if you want put some hot glue all around to make sure it's sealed, there is an opening at the bottom near the A-Arm, usually dirt gets in there. Let me know.

      @rcsendandblast1579 Před 6 lety

      hybrid32494 On it Bro. Ahh thank you that is a great idea.
      I see the hole in it I'm going to hot glue this one and buy a rpm sealed cover.
      Yes it was dirt flying up in there and making the noise.
      Thanks for the help 👊😎

    • @hybrid32494

      hey my dude!! There are pins which are threaded though the diff itself, this is how the driveshaft Is held onto the diff outdrives themselves. Take a close look, a 2MM hex should work to remove the cross pins. They are tough to see, and there will be a notch one one side of the gearbox which will let you get the hex driver in there.

      hey buddy! The transmission is different on the 4X4 Model, there is an input shaft too but it also goes through the spur gear and there is a slipper clutch built in. Make sure non of your pins in any of the axles are missing and that your slipper is tight. Best idea is to do process of elimination.
