I ran the 400 meter hurdles in Jr Olympics I was the regional champion at 49.8 (17 / 18 group) back in 1983. You got pre limbs you got semis and you got finals! Trust me when I tell you that's a lot for 400 meters over hurdles! She do good to be on the 4 x 4 in the finals...

Technically not true. I thought the same thing but Salwa Eid Naser & Olha Bryzhina (who are both in the top 5 all-time) are not sub 22. Salwa’s 200 pb is 22.51 and Olha is 22.44. Salwa is of course the closest of any to those records. Looking at all of her times, she’s an interesting case. 🤔

I think because it is the olympics she is playing it safe and sticking to what she knows. Let's not forget she will also be on the 4x400 relay team as well. To confine all that talent to one race is a shame. I get wanting to come back slowly after injury, but down the line, double in two of the three (400,400H, or maybe the 200.) She could go down as the greatest of all time, but not if she sticks to one event imo.
I feel Syd is different, DIFFERENT! I think she will break the hurdles record again, break the 400M record, step down to the 200M and break that, try to do the same in the 100M, then retire and have a baby. I see her as a family woman who wants kids quickly and to live out her fairytale.

Not surprising given her exploits accomplished at 17, still a teenager at Union Catholic School Sydney she ran her split 49.85 over 4x400m. At 18, in 2018, she ran 22.39 for 200m and the 400m in 50.07 in the rain. With this time, she would have been 4th at the World Championships in Eugene. This is incredible for such a young girl!
I think it is reasonable to expect her to win 400 hurdles, 400 and 400 relay in Paris. But she does not want to do it. There is nothing you can do about that.

The schedule isn’t great for the double. If it was and she still skipped it I’d be more upset, but while I wish she’d do it I don’t blame her for not doing it.
