Law states you only HAVE to give offers your ID once a crime has been committed. Getting pulled over isnât a crime. The purpose for getting pulled over is. Some counties might have a policy about but it but other than that they aren't required to tell you what traffic infraction you have violated. It's just general decent practice to do so. I got arrested not showing up for court when i didnt know too, so the issued a warrant... i explained the situation in court, and it was thrown out, and due to what it was actually for, which was driving without insurance, in someone elses car, i didn't even have to worry about the original charge... all that was possible by speaking respectfully.

Actually the police do have to tell you why they pulled you over and you donât have to legally give them your id until they tell you why. Itâs actually the law lol so you donât know what youâre talking about. If the traffic stop is not valid then you donât have to identify and this also goes for any reason the police stop and question you anywhere if the police do not have reasonable articulate suspicion of a crime that was committed is being committed or will be committed you donât have to identify. Even if your driving if the police illegally pull you over then you donât have to identify which itâs really weird that police donât want to give a reason they pulled you over before they get your id be a sue they can literally lie and make up whatever they want in order to force you to give your id then you have to take them to court in order to do something about it.
