Watercolor Painting Challenge: Study Capturing a Portrait

When I say watercolor is tricky what I really mean is “watercolor is layering and can be opposite of how many have learned to paint” in fact when I was first learning oil painting portraits my professor correctly trained me to “map in my low keys” and get them placed first.
Materials I used
reference image
Windsor & Newton Watercolor
arches coldpress watercolor paper
Velvet touch brushes
Cotman brushes
any brush I have near me 😝
Now I paint using mainly watercolor and have had to RE-TRAIN my brain to do light washes first and slowly build up to the lower values.
