IT was black. - just above the heaterbox you can make out the letters BLK
The 10 10 X33 survivor I had has BLACK on the firewall.
Norwood cars have the color name written on the firewall,
LA cars have the color code on the firewall.
    EX. 1969 Lemans Blue -
    NOR - LBLU
    LOS - 71 71
The inner bumper brackets are correct for ENDURA.
Black cars with enduras look so nice... here is my olg 45k mile survivor black RS/Z cowl induction endura, bought new at Central Chev in Atlanta by the dealership owners son.

BTW A black SS with black interior got a RED D90 super sport stripe! another cool thing about Black 69's - The only SS to get a SILVER GRILLE. Black SS's and RS/SS's and RS/Z28's all got Silver Grilles.
The drivers fender appears original and it could have the edge of the stripe still painted in the door jamb area. The door stripe was a sticker but part of the sticker is some times on the front door edge.
All SS's got 1/4 trim, the car does have the rain gutter connector tabs at the A-pillar to roof rain gutter indicating X66- . X22 Cars got stainless trim and did not have the painted connector tab. There should be a X2 or X6 on the bulkhead.
      FWIW when dealing with
NORWOOD built cars the bulkhead markings are Fisher Body indicators and do not apply to LA built vehicles.
The X position is used as an indicator (black) for interior trim paint color.
If you see another letter it should be one of the below listed.
      X-Black
      B- Blue -
      R- Red -
      G- Green -
DG - dark green - std

@@zcam1969 Z28's with EXTERIOR STYLE TRIM also have the X33 tags. The X33 X22 X11 were the style trim or RS cars. X27 was not used, Z27 was Super Sport on 70-72 Camaro cowl tags.
The different X codes represented what modifications were done to the body.
      Front fender extensions will have differnet markings indicating which piercings the fenders got - GR = Z28 Rally Sport (X33) - GM = Z28 Style Trim (X33)- G = Z28 (x77)- 427R = COPO RS (X11)- 427M =COPO with style trim(X11) - 427 = COPO w/out any trim (X44)

@@zcam1969 LA /VAN NUYS did not use X codes, the LA plant used the small trim tags the entire 1969 model year. Like the early Norwood Trim Tags.
MidNov NOR started using the larger tags HOWEVER the X codes did not appear until iirc 2nd-3rd week of December 1968.
NOR cars with the Small tag Still have X codes written on the rear seat bulkhead with grease pencil. My 10D early 1969 Z with the small tag had an X7 there.
BUT IF THE INTERIOR IS NOT BLACK it will have B7 Blue interior x77 - R7 red interior X77- G7 green trim X77 - DG7 Dark Green X77 -
All of the houndstooth cars, the white interior cars and black interior cars used a X which was default for Black painted interior trim.
BTW if you frequent Camaro boards I am firstgenaddict.

Did the big block 69 Camaro ever come with air conditioning? If so, did they use the same evaporator housing as the small block? Or was it a different housing?

    • @backyardbarnfinds

Yes, they put a/c in big block cars. The case is different than a small block, also the hoses are ran differently.. Hope that answers you question
