@@eko9554 Yeah, no. MTV was _a lot_ different by the '90s. It wasn't all just one era from '81 to the '00s. Not by a long shot. It stopped being cool in the late '80s. Straight up trashy by the late '90s.
I loved to watch the old MTV so much and missed it enough I created a 600+ playlist here on CZcams complete with random old MTV bumpers! I WATCH IT EVERY DAY, I WANT MY MTV!!!! 😁👍
I miss the MTV in the 80's, much music and not stupid series or realities full of male and female prostitutes as "Jersey shore", "Are you the one?" "Ex on the beach". I miss the 80's : No pandemic, no shitty music as today, no Internet, no much technology... I want a time machine to travel to the 80's and never come back to this boring Era. Just watching MTV and having a good time outside every weekend.
The number of song title requests reminds me of how old I am. These are songs I assume everyone finds instantly recognizable but I guess its just the old folks...
I wish I had the money so I could buy my own tv station and play 60s, 70s and 80s music videos 24 hours a day like the old MTV use to. In Stereo. I would call it DON'T touch my MTV.
It was nice and no matter what they try to say now, everyone got along great together. People weren't hung up on identity politics or victimization, we were just all living life and doing our thing. It wasn't perfect but things were more wholesome.
Here's my MTV voice-over: "Hi! This is Alden R. Davis and you're watching MTV (Music Television). All music. All day, all night. 24 hours a day. 7 days of week. 365 days a year. If you don't have it, call your cable operator and tell 'em: "I want my MTV!" Enjoy!"
This is the real MTV! The 80s and 90s were the golden age of the youth music channel. I can imagine BTS, Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, Lil Uzi Vert, Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Harry Styles, Future, and Bruno Mars doing their own promos in this style. Nowadays it's just stupid reality shows.
It’s sad that MTV is gone but on the other hand I’m very lucky that I’m 24 when I see all the commons here 🥴🤷🏻♂️ Comments from people that where alive when this was streamed will be/are gold tho
Mtv was the most awesome thing on cable in the 1980's, but then very quickly Devolved into pure CRAP in the 1990's.... They "forgot" what the "M" stood for apparently...
The actual reason why they changed their programming was because Neisen ratings at the time only counted if the viewer watched for at least 15 minutes. If they turned the channel after one video, they lost a rating - thus, their ad rate would go lower and lower. They switched to programming as a survival move.
All the shows really ruined it. I used to watch the late night broadcasts of "The Young Ones" and would occasionally watch their game show "Remote Control"(a few episodes are on youtube, worth a laugh just to see the young Adam Sandler and a few other people before they got popular) but then they just went overboard, especially after Real World got so popular.

This content was copied from Buzzco's portfolio reel, which was a videotape sent to ad agencies to get work. I was an ad agency A/V guy who copied videotapes, so these TV spots are a collection of stuff I came across in my work.
The good old days of classic MTV.. I still want my MTV!
Me too hunny
❤agreed
Back then Mtv was worth watching.
Sure was😭😇
True
MTV looked so cool from the 80s until the 2000s. I wish I lived during that time.

Watching this makes me wanna cry because I never got to live in the 80's
It was pretty sweet. Makes the messed up world we're in now that much more depressing, though.
I loved to watch the old MTV so much and missed it enough I created a 600+ playlist here on CZcams complete with random old MTV bumpers! I WATCH IT EVERY DAY, I WANT MY MTV!!!! 😁👍
Essentially the 80s version of "I'm Miley Cyrus and you're watching the Disney Channel."
Omg yes!
That's way too much praise for Billy Ray Cyrus' talentless tramp of a daughter. Did Kathleen Kennedy make you post this??
😬 yuk no
Other way around bud lol
Except it's 40 years later and still means the world to millions.
its sad that mtv does no longer play music but atleast we have mtv classic, hits and club
Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran said it best: “the 80s gave us the drum machine and MTV, both changed music forever”
Amo la voz de Cindy Lauper 🖤🖤
WOW!!! MTV!!!!

Well, there was AIDS and video arcades, but I get your point.

My son was born in 1994 but it pretty well versed in past pop culture. I played the MTV intro music for him - he had no idea what it was. 😢

A who's who of '80s rock. I like it. I never knew that was an actual motto. I thought it was just a song lyric from dire straits.

This might be Jan / Feb 1983
God I miss the 80's and the way MTV was back in the day before they sold out and became a channel of crappy reality tv trash!!
