Then it was decided that each news broadcast had to pay for itself. It was actually a softball question, or what do firefighters call it... a "back burn" or "back fire"? Take away the fuel for the fire. All Biden had to say was "I meant 'focus' at the time, I was speaking off the cuff, and I now regret my careless choice of words." He could have cleanly addressed the issue and had it out of the way, but instead he introduced "crosshairs" and garbled things up worse.
