- Hi Everyone! As requested here is my UPDATED version on how to buy a Birkin/Kelly in Paris. Firstly - there is a NEW SYSTEM that has been implemented at the PARIS FSH store!!! No more lining up outside the store. Personally I loved this new online system however the con is that you are not guaranteed an appointment. In this video I'm going to be sharing my experience, take you through the new online system as well as sharing my TOP 5 tips! Oh of course UNBOXING my new beauty with you too! Grab a cuppa it's a long one but I wanted to be as in-depth as possible so that it hopefully helps those of you that may be going to Paris wanting to purchase your dream bag. I like Mel and like the video but this whole procedure looks like humiliation. It is ridiculous that people have to learn so much, depend on luck/lottery system and sales associate to be able to spend tens of thousands of dollars in the shop. Well done Hermes, you really have a genius marketing and PR team

@@fdm2155 if they create scarcity so it's easier for them to keep high prices. If they give Birkin to everyone, it won't be rare and the price will need to drop heavily so.... the strategy work for Hermes i guess. I don't like the strategy it's BS but from business point of view is extremely good ( because producing Birking takes $500 and selling it costs $20.000)
I would love a Kelly, but this is absurd. Even in Chanel they put 10 options on the counter so i can try them on and decide. It's like they are doing us a favour taking our 8000-10000 euros.
Business are business and if customers have to do all that stuff in order to get a bag the only ones to blame are customers, neither they would change that system in order to loose money by making that 10k purse (which gives them a lot of incomes) available to anyone, at any hour any day that will make them to lose it’s value, nor will them are gonna stop making those bags to not “offend” their valuable customers (whom in every single video I’ve watched, all of them they look happy, excited, amazed, lucky and a lot of good moods but disrespected, offended, scammed or so) and yet again, lose their business.
Do you have 10k bucks and you want to expend them on a luxury bag and at the same time be treated nicely and cared, by your sellers because you deserve it instead of being treated like a piece of garbage? Well, you just said it, go to Chanel, Fendi, Gucci, LV, go to anywhere you want but Hermès if you already know you are not gonna get what you are looking for in there, it’s literally the only one luxury store that does that, it’s so easy avoid humiliation for you.
I found very disrespectful towards people that has not the money to buy luxury items, the way you expressed that, only cause of the amount you are paying you have to be treated nicely? every single customer of any single business available has to be treated nicely by the company whether their buying a 1 million dollars purse in a luxury French store with a platinum credit card or a 1 dollar + discount item paying with food coupons in an outlet store.
Respect is not exclusive to Rich people it’s a basic human right.
love you Mel... but I think it’s embarrassing that Hermes make their loyal customers froth and wait for a bag worth so much..

I know I just started on luxury, but I don’t think I’d ever go through that for Hermès. I fell in love with the boutique experiences from Chanel, Gucci and LV, where the SAs are so helpful and friendly, offer champagne after every purchase and you can just walk in and choose what you want, or ask them to keep you in mind if a certain specific item appears...
I don’t feel like not being well treated yet to spend thousands

Hi Mel. Could you please do a leather comparison video? Togo, Clemence, Epsom, Box, Swift etc. There are NO videos like this out there. I would like to be 100% sure what I want before I try to score one. Love your videos
majamenos Clemence is a natural grained and anti-scratch leather that is made from a baby bull calf, and is officially named Veau Taurillon Clemence. The grains are larger than in Togo. The grain is less deep than Togo, causing a more “matte” effect.

I'm so appalled that you didn't get offered the bag you wanted, but your hubby did at the SAME appointment time. How are they allowed to treat customers like this? I love the HERMES bags, but I don't think I will ever shop there cause of their selling process. They make people feel like they are not good enough to be offered a birkin or kelly. RIDICULOUS.

I suspect that you perhaps weren't offered the bag because you were _too_ knowledgeable regarding finishes, materials, hardware, etc. because I'm assuming a resale person would be wise to all of those specifications in comparison to the husband who knows nothing and simply wanted to purchase a gift for his wife

I don’t think that her husband knew “nothing.” Yes, he started out saying he wanted to purchase an anniversary gift for his wife. But then I’m sure the sales associate asked him what he had in mind, and I’m sure he was able to tell her what Mel would like. Mel has probably trained him good, in case he ever got picked. It isn’t hard for an experienced businessman (I’m assuming) to remember a couple of measurements, and colors. 🙂
I suspect that he was offered the Kelly because he was a man who knew so much about the products, which is probably rarely seen.

Just one thing I wanna say (and you know I've been a fan of yours for a long time now and how much I love your videos 😍) and I, by no means, wanna be negative and I have no problem with buying luxury items 😃
Though what I wanna say has to do specifically with Hermes sales system...
I personally feel they way they treat customers (who are willing to splurge a HUGE amount of money on their products anyways) is kinna OFFENSIVE and DISCRIMINATORY! 🙁
I mean judging whether a customer is worth a bag (which at the end of the day is pure luxury and irrationally priced) or not!!!
Whatever their judgment is based on, I think it is just discriminatory.
Having said that, I do understand they do check your history to find out if the customer is a reseller or not but at the end of the day I feel creating such a buzz about it is ridiculous! They make their (LUXURY AND IRRATIONALLY PRICED) bags seem impossible to get just to have more people lusting after it! And they are the ones who PICK who is worth of wearing the bag?!!! 🙄
I mean, even a customer like you, who had already established a history with them as a customer were not offered the bag!!! Or the thing about Rodeo you just mentioned! I would feel sooo bad as a customer if it happened to me....I mean I'm just outta university and don't have the budget to buy these bags yet, but if one day I have all the money in the world (hopefully 😁😁) I would NOT wanna buy anything from Hermes BECAUSE OF THEIR ATTITUDE 😕

Also, It’s so funny the experience men can have in Hermes. My brother was in Paris a month ago. He went alone to get his wife a bag and he was offered a Birkin and a Kelly as a walk in with no appointment and no prior purchase history.

I absolutely loved watching this video!
I went to school for fashion in Toronto and worked at a high end consignment store (with an excellent reputation) while in school. The owner sold a 25cm orange croc Kelly with gold hardware while I was working at the store. I haven't worked there for almost 5 years now and cannot remember the exact details but I believe it sold for 50,000 Canadian dollars.
Since that time I tried working in the fashion industry and found out I do not have the back bone to handle it- even in Canada haha.... so, sadly I do not get to work with or even see the luxury goods I love (I have 7 designer bags that are my babies but I won't be buying a new one any time soon). I really enjoy watching your videos because I feel like I get to live vicariously through you and you seem so sweet and genuinely down to Earth it gives me some faith in humanity.
I am sorry for the rude comments people have left on this video. I know to them it sounds nuts but I for one love learning about this process and find it so interesting. I will continue to watch your videos and dream.

I don't even own or buy any Hermes bags, but love watching your unboxings/reveals/reviews nonetheless. Especially enjoy the tips, which i think would apply with buying at any other brands' boutiques - common etiquette etc. :) it pays to be nice :) SUPER love this particular Kelly, the (more rigid) structure and overall aesthetic is TO DIE FOR.

After watching it makes me wonder if your husband ended up getting the bag since you said he was way quicker than you (since you mentioned you and your SA were talking so much). If there was only one bag of the type you wanted in stock and his SA got it before yours did, seems like a real possibility!
