You can DIY a Christmas card box with a lid and fill it with handmade cards; it makes a great gift. Think it’s hard to make? Not at all!
The math is actually pretty easy! Just measure your Depth and DOUBLE it. Measure your Length and add the doubled Depth for your first measurement. Measure your Width and add the doubled Depth for your second measurement. Put the two together and BOOM you have the size of cardstock you need to make your Christmas card box!

Thanks so much for including how to do the math to make the box. You are a great teacher.
I totally get it now, Connie...I was a little slow the last time you shared this formula for the perfect box building, but I got it now and will use it for ANY box in the future. Off to make my BOX LID SHIM now. In my eyes, you earned the award for 'The Best Craft Teacher of All Time!, Connie. Thank you so much for sharing and for your contribution to this wonderful therapeutic papercraft community.
I usually make cards for our Chinese auctions at church. I generally cover my paper pumpkin boxes for the cards and envelopes. Everyone one is excited to win my cards. Now I have another option Thank you.
Patricia, you are welcome.
I think this might be my most favorite video yet. Thanks, Connie.
A friend was just asking me to show her how to make boxes. I've sent her your link and I'll be working with her on Thursday to make some of them. Thank you so much for all you do to help us become better crafters.
Barbara, thank you for sharing. I am so glad they are useful.
I'm watching the replay, but I still have time to make my boxes for Christmas! I absolutely love these cards...so easy!! Thank you for sharing!!
Victoria, You are so welcome!
Thank you so much for sharing on how to make your box shim. Now my frustration of making box lids that don't fit will be gone. Life saver. ❤️
Glynnis, You are so welcome!
I've made the shim from your past video and it works great for me. TY for sharing the 2 styles of the lid for the box and the detailed explanation. It helps me a great deal, as I too am a visual person. Be well & TYFS.
Claire, you are very welcome. I am glad this was useful for you.
Connie, as always, you give the best instructions for making cards and gift boxes. TFS❣️❣️❣️
Connie- This is an extremely useful video. I think it will be the most useful video for gift giving of all times. You are right with this information we can make a very useful box for our handmade cards for any occasion by picking the card stock colors & the card topper to decorate the top. That shim will be the best box lid making tool of all times. You are so creative. Thank you for sharing this video , especially for the new card makers out there. You are certainly helping many people create & share the lovely Stampin Up cards with others. 🥰👏👏👏💕
That was the easiest card box I have seen. Thank you for taking the stress out of the box. Carole
Great tips & box. Shared

Sally, You are so welcome!
You’ve needed with a bang Connie💥 love the boxes ideas❤️🌲🤗
Debra, thank you for watching.
Thank you for the directions on the shim. I did create it as stated, but I have a different scoring board and the first one I made was way too big. I have now taken measurements of my board and created one to fit it and it works beautifully. I have a storage location on my scoring board and will store the shim there so it is always at the ready. Thank you for all your wonderful videos and tips.
Ellen, Glad it was helpful!
Connie thanks for making this video look forward to making boxes for my cards. Great idea for making the shim to give the lid that extra space.
Rosalyn, You are very welcome. Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! I've seen you make and use the shim in the past, but today I made myself a shim as I followed along with your video. Also, thank you for the easy to follow card box creating measurements. You made it so simple!
Connie, you’ve done it again! As much as I love the portfolios, this is EXACTLY what I had been looking for…a beautiful box. And thank your for the detailed explanation. I am such a visual person and if I had been reading this in directions it would have been much harder. I am not a good “math” person..so this was an excellent video. Thank you for all you do…you’re the best :). P.S. I can’t wait for more Master Classes 💕
Fantastic tutorial, thank you Connie!! Will use again & again. Love the idea of the card front -which could also open and be your Christmas card/gift to them. Love, love, love your Master Classes!
M Kathryn, thank you so much for your kind words of encouragement.

Thank you so much for this video. I just made 12 cards for 12 people. They each will get 12 cards and I was wondering how I would package them. Thanks to you, I know just what to do. Your videos are great and I love them all. You are a great teacher and have a great personality. Thanks again.

I love this Idea and I will absolutely be making a shim and hopefully I will be able to make this
Amber, it is very easy to make.
Great video. Thanks
Janet, Glad you liked it!
I know what I'm going to make! Thanks Connie! 8-)
Sherri, Have fun!
I frequently adapt measurements due to the We R Memories all in one (trimmer, score, e.t.c) ruler being right to left numbering to focus on the cutting edge.
I thought I didn't have an edge to place this brilliant shim.
Then remembered there's a blue guard piece under the blade flap I'm supposed to flip over when scoring 🤣 which I rarely do. The shim can sit on the trimmer! I am a happy girl!
I am so glad.
Awesome
Sally, thanks so much.
I do love your tutorials. Thank you so much 🌸😊🇦🇺
Janice, I'm so glad!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful boxes, will definitely be making these. Also I just love your blouse!
Oh thank you!
Fabulous project-😍as always! Love something other than cards! And thanks for something so useful & great! 😘😘😘
Buffy, You are so welcome!
aww, I can't use the shim, my score/cut board doesn't have the rim to rest the shim on...but I still love the box. And nice to see, that my way of measuring the box is the same as yours :) That red is gorgeous, by the way :)
Very good. I remember you showing this last year, I believe. made this little helper. Thanks for the reminder. 👍🤗🤗🤗 Hugs to you.
Paulette, you are very welcome.
So so nice!!!! Thank you for the beautiful project & inspiration ❤!!!
Karen, You are so welcome!
Hi Connie, Thank you for the excellent explanation on how to create your beautiful boxes and the very useful box maker shim. Don't forget at the 3:30 mark to put in the text for skipping to the box. You have ### in the text. We all appreciate your videos and inspiration and always make it look so easy. Thank you again.
OH MY GOSH, I forgot to put in the ACTUAL number.. I put the time in later in the video. So embarrassing.
