I feel so heartbroken and angry at the housing situation in Ireland and that things have been allowed to get this bad. Seeing incredibly successful young people like you experience such shame and stress over what is completely out of your control is horrific and the tip of the iceberg. How many young people on the margins are being pushed into complete instability and poverty. I'm 30 and living with my partner and 4 other adults in a tiny rental in the UK. I want to come home but am beginning to lose hope of ever having enough money for our own place. Thank you for your honesty, and for speaking about what so many of us are experiencing.
My mum and I were kicked out of lots of places when I was little. And my dad abandoned us so there wasn’t any other person to help us. All of my stuff was in bin bags and my mum was trying to put a brave face on but I know it was hard for her. Now she owns her own house, with a garden and sash windows and a fireplace. We make dinners in the massive kitchen. My room is a haven. There are good things for you and your girl. It’s all coming. 💕💫

There’s Shame, disappointment, frustration, hopelessness and so many more emotions attached to such experiences. I think so many young people are made to feel ashamed of their struggles to economically thrive in a system that is just not designed to help them. It's so difficult to get ahead right now, especially with housing, and we're made to feel that it's because we have done something wrong, and just haven't earned it. But it's bullshit - first of all, housing should be a right, and not a privilege. And the gap between salaries and living costs just keeps growing. Try not to carry all of that on yourself! Your channel is one of the most grounding and comforting around, you helped me through a truly horrific break up, I had to move out and being in a crummy flatshare. My fam is full of examples of happily married, houseowning couples and it is really comforting to see "real" content. Everyone's life is dysfunctional at times, some have it harder than others for whatever reason!!! Ireland is such a tough place, home ownership is mad and so much pressure plus everyone judges the f*ck out of each other. I live in Berlin since 4 years, and no one, really no one buys here, I can't recommend Berlin enough for its quality of life... Berlin and belfast actually, I think if you want to buy, Northern Ireland is such a community, affordable and has good public services!

I’m from Belfast but was in Dublin this weekend and all I could think about was what you’d said about the housing crisis and I was wondering where everyone was living because the city was so busy. You wouldn’t think there was a cost of living crisis with all the shops and bars heaving with people! You should definitely look into Belfast - houses are significantly cheaper, Belfast is a lovely place to live, you’re 2 hours on the train to Dublin. I really hope your situation improves but please don’t feel shame - you’re doing the absolute best for you and your family ❤

You are trying your best in a very difficult situation. I really resonated with the part where you spoke about striving to find a place of your own, sacrificing a lot for that goal and then feeling like it still wasn't enough. It will be enough eventually when your daughter is grown and has such an insightful, compassionate mother to guide her through the ups and downs of life through the lens of her own experience. I think a lot of people our age feel this guilt, uncertainty and listlessness from one year to the next when things have not gone the way we thought they would- you are definitely not alone. If 5 years ago you couldn't have envisioned this for yourself, just imagine how different (better!) things could possibly be 5 years from today. I admittedly haven't watched much of your story so far but you seem unbelievably tough on yourself. Your daughter is so lucky to have you, you are really doing right by her with each decision you make and I hope all of your sacrifices will start paying off soon. I often feel ashamed with things happening in my life like friendship breakups and parent arguments and my sister feels ashamed at living at our parents house. And we feel ashamed because we feel like we should have gotten it together by now and we are behind in life. But we arent this is just life. We feel behind in adulthood because social media people often shine the light on all the good aspects of their life but this is just actual shit that happens.

I live in Berlin since 4 years, and no one, really no one buys here, I can't recommend Berlin enough for its quality of life... Berlin and belfast actually, I think if you want to buy, Northern Ireland is such a community, affordable and has good public services!

I really feel for you Keelin! That is a lot of stress for anyone, never mind a young woman having to look after herself and a small child. I can barely look after myself the best of times. I’m from Belfast but was in Dublin this weekend and all I could think about was what you’d said about the housing crisis and I was wondering where everyone was living because the city was so busy. You wouldn’t think there was a cost of living crisis with all the shops and bars heaving with people! You should definitely look into Belfast - houses are significantly cheaper, Belfast is a lovely place to live, you’re 2 hours on the train to Dublin. I really hope your situation improves but please don’t feel shame - you’re doing the absolute best for you and your family ❤

You are trying your best in a very difficult situation. I really resonated with the part where you spoke about striving to find a place of your own, sacrificing a lot for that goal and then feeling like it still wasn't enough. It will be enough eventually when your daughter is grown and has such an insightful, compassionate mother to guide her through the ups and downs of life through the lens of her own experience. I think a lot of people our age feel this guilt, uncertainty and listlessness from one year to the next when things have not gone the way we thought they would- you are definitely not alone. If 5 years ago you couldn't have envisioned this for yourself, just imagine how different (better!) things could possibly be 5 years from today. I admittedly haven't watched much of your story so far but you seem unbelievably tough on yourself. Your daughter is so lucky to have you, you are really doing right by her with each decision you make and I hope all of your sacrifices will start paying off soon. You deserve to feel safe and secure and above all else, proud of who you are and what you have overcome.

Thank you for being so candid and honest with the not so glamorous parts of ur life. I often feel ashamed with things happening in my life like friendship breakups and parent arguments and my sister feels ashamed at living at our parents house. And we feel ashamed because we feel like we should have gotten it together by now and we are behind in life. But we arent this is just life. We feel behind in adulthood because social media people often shine the light on all the good aspects of their life but this is just actual shit that happens.

i absolutely adore you, the same way hundreds of people do. i moved out of Dublin last year myself and have slowly had to accept probably never being able to live there again. it’s fucking hard and you’re so allowed to feel all of the grief and heartbreak that comes with it, except without the guilt and shame. i know it’s hard to shake it, but i hope you can.
you are so capable of getting you and baby through this, it’s a hard road to navigate but i truly believe you will be okay.
thank you for being so mindful of the world around you and so self aware, i just hope you remember to take a breath and realise there’s only so much toughness you can put forward.
