This is my favorite piece from Bach. I love hearing it performed by an orchestra. Wonderful job!

for me the special is: An orchestra is combined energy of about 60 musicians, but the original is a one man show for organ with one player. To hear it played by 60 musicians opens some new doors to that wonderful composition which I could not open before at an organ console playing it alone...

Just spectacular! I know this is an organ piece. You're the only band I have heard perform this piece with so much inspiration.

There is the Schoepper Collection Vol 8 of the Marine band performing this piece with a bit different Orchestration that is available on this site and is the older recording I was referring to previously.

Love the Contra Bassoon sound in the beginning.. The contra bass clarinet is another big plus for the sound quality. To much piccolo for me but what else in new. Intonation please. I have a CD produced by the band at least 30 years ago where the intonation between the flutes, piccolo and clarinets is much superior. Some serious work needs to be done before performing this piece again. There is a Fennell recording of this piece with the Dallas Winds you might enjoy, You tube,. Will say it is a brighter recording all though the intonations between instruments is better I prefer the smoother sound of this recording.

needless critique. Man... "intonation please" . you pretentious youtuber. Why does the world care which version you prefer.

While the piccolo was very present, I didn't hear the piccolo out of tune. The balance was quite good in my opinion. That is a bear of a part that is incredibly exposed. I would not want that part. The Eb clarinet and piccolo were very much in tune with one another. In the Fennell recording, the Eb is more present than the picc and I can definitely see the pull in that sound. I quite prefer when it's the Eb that sits on top as well. I can't fault this picc player though, intonation was well placed.

Ay Dios, no interpreten así a Bach. Comparen esta versión con la de Stokowski por ejemplo.
