Isn't there a few seconds cropped out of this episode? The original episode had Hester standing upright in the car. The car passed two young lads, who gave the Third Reich salute. It was a hillarious moment, now spoilt by the PC police.
Neil Jones Yes Neil, you are correct. That was the best bit of the episode as well. I first saw that scene on the Des O'Connor show and found it so funny I've been looking for the episode for years. I was gutted that that scene has been deleted because it was so comical. As you said PC too far

When men were prepared to support the mother of their children in doing the most important job of work any human can do! And graceful with it. They're lucky enough that she can choose whether or not to go back to work now then children have grown up. Most women I know would love to stay at home and bring their own children up!
Changing times, wouldn't be surprised if they chopped this from the Drama airings like they've done with certain scenes of Classic EastEnders on that Channel
