This song is complete satire. It is not poking fun at the fans nor is it poking fun at anyone's culture. The song jokingly over-exaggerates the amount of JRPGs announced in the Nintendo Direct.
Lol this is very clearly poking fun at the amount of anime in the direct and there's nothing wrong with that. People can have their own opinions and this video is funny. If anime fans legitimately get upset at an animaniacs parody song then on top of being even more hilarious, it's also not your responsibility for how they feel. If saying "anime" 1,742 times in a row is considered cultural hate speech then I dread the world we live in lmao

not that what you said is inherently wrong but I think I can semi-confidently Japanese people aren’t in love with most of these games. there were in total 7 turn based fighting anime games. Of course all of them are unique in there own ways, but it’s a pretty oversaturated market. Like I don’t get excited when I see another sports game, even if it’s bugs bunny. Idk that’s just my take.

I legitimately don't get the people who spammed "L" and "mid" the whole direct... like you aren't forced to buy those games you don't have to complain the whole time.. and also.. we need some stuff between the big drops unless you really really want a like 10 minute video and just not knowing all the other stuff that is coming unless you happen to come across it
It's crazy because oftentimes I'm sure they forget the Direct has a set runtime and is pre-recorded.

Nintendo fans have always been like this. I remember the 2000s E3 showings where people would throw giant tantrums if a new entry in a 1st Party IP wasn't shown, but then thrown an equally big tantrum if a new entry WAS shown because it meant that some OTHER 1st Party IP wasn't getting a new release. Of course, once it did, the tantrum shifted to "Nintendo doesn't make new games".

Nintendo gives you Anime games
Xbox gives you generic japanese samurai/Soulslike games
and Playstation gives you CG trailers instead of games.
That kinda applies to every showcase. With Xbox it's mainly hyperrealistic shooters or medieval games with an occasional stylized game thrown in between while with Playstation you get a bunch of CG trailers with the occasional gameplay trailer.

ookay so i didnt realize a bunch of people thought this was, like, hateful??? i seriously cant understand this perspective, not liking a piece of a country’s“culture”or media is xenophobia?? people have made this joke forever, its not something new and people do it all the time now with the farming games too. i really think people just want to be upset about something, because to me its just people noticing a correlation in how much of certain genres appear frequently in directs.
i dont think the guy who made this video is “racist” because he made a meme about how directs tend to have a lot of rpg/jrps. sure, you could say “hey what do you expect its a japanese company” and yes thats true, so it totally makes sense theres so many anime styled games. but it doesn’t really change that some people may not vibe with them and can voice that, yknow, they can be a bit repetitive sometimes. and i dont think it makes people “racist” or “xenophobic” to not like a game genre. at the end of the day, everyone likes different things but at least there’s something out there for all of us to play and enjoy. personally i dont really like rpgs, but i definitely have some games i think id qualify as pretty “anime” looking haha

To be fair, since the direct started with a big RPG announcement, Mario & Luigi Brothers hip, would make sense that there would be a big emphasis on RPGs in it. Also most of them are made in Japan and Nintendo is a Japanese company.
This got me ROLLING!
The best thing you could do going into any Direct (or any announcement-type thing for that matter) is setting super low expectations. In this Direct especially I was expecting practically nothing, and yet there was still some awesome stuff that left me pleasantly surprised. I will never understand the swarm of people who seemingly have whole grocery lists worth of incredibly specific announcements that they demand be ticked off, else the Direct is deemed as bad. It's especially weird considering that the Directs are literally just a reflection of whatever is in store - they can't just magically make a game out of nowhere to show it off in a presentation. I like Directs cause they're a fun little occasional event where you get to see some cool games, people have got to stop being so dramatic about them.
