Idk why ppl think the band controls where visiting bands sit. Mumford East is full of season ticket holders in that middle section. Them ppl dont give a damn about a visiting band.

That "Rock the Boat" from TxSU was simply phenomenal. And I've been saying all season that it doesn't sound like 33 tubas over there but anytime you say anything against Su or any other band, you hating. But those 33 sound like a decent 18. TxSU 14 sound like 24.

If you stayed on the side where the band room is you missed the total experience. The area on the north side of the stadium is amazing with live music, give aways, more and more RVs, food trucks, free food, lots of friendly people and a great atmosphere. Sorry you missed all of that, next time.
Man this was one of the best battle that I seen on CZcams both had some good creative and old school songs
I speak from experience and TXSU did something creative at the beginning and also, when they played Around the Way Girl, those trumpets screamed and sounded fantastic 😮💨

The reason why the opposing band has to sit in the corner is that SU’s athletic department sells those seats across from the band as premium season tickets to season ticket holders and they couldn’t care less about where the opposing band sits….they’re not gonna give up that revenue…SUs band doesn’t have any say in it..when I was in the band (06-10) we always wanted the opposing band directly in front of us 🤷🏾♂️

FYI- the ROTC cannon is always on the field for home games. Not just this one. And 2. Take the L like a man.

One of the most balanced battles I've ever seen and heard, I thought Texas Southern was better, there was more clarity in the arrangements, making some very complex chords appear much more, than in Southern State's arrangements, this battle is on the same level as that happened between Southern State and Jackson State, I would like there to be a battle between Jackson State, Norfolk State and Southern State to see this trio of marching band power in action in the same competition, it would be a fantastic spectacle, full of power, technique and musicality!👏👏👏👏👏

Nsu wouldn't hold up in a battle with JSU or SU. These bands have deep books and a wide variety of genre along with complexity.

Happy belated bday KB. I enjoyed your recap of your experience. I'm a proud TSU alum and was at the game. We've not played in Baton Rouge since 2016. It was nice to see as many TSU supporters make the trip. I'll just say if we were in the SWAC West race as we anticipated in the beginning of the year, boy TSU fans would have been deep in that stadium. I've always like when TSU plays PV, JSU , and SU. TSU, JSU, and SU are my top 3 bands. Now, let's talk about TSU's halftime show- it was great as I like the military style march and Brian did it last year against SU too, albeit different. I think it shows his creativity AND ANOTHER distinction from his SU roots. I think Brian is GREAT!
As far as an on-campus stadium that is a dream that I would love to see. Yes, we would need to raise money BUT it's more of being landlocked and no place to put an on-campus stadium. So, friends and supporters of TSU made sure that the only way that the soccer stadium would get built was to include TSU as a tenant. So, it was our 2nd best option. As someone mentioned we play our homecoming game on campus as it's been the case for the last 5 years or so. Unfortunately, we can't play a D1 school because it doesn't meet NCAA standards. This is why we play div 2, div 3, or NAIA schools. Homecoming gets bigger and better every year....tailgating and RVs but due to limited space it can't have as many RVs. However, tens of thousands of people are still on the yard having a good time. You should come check it out!

KB Southern's band staff doesn't have anything to do with the band's moving over to the middle what Jackson did they did on their own you notice a few people on the SU side didn't move and stayed in their seats. Good Recap man I enjoyed!

Classic this time as I couldn't miss it, Because I went to boombox last year In Jackson, including the Battle of the bands that Friday night, and of course, missed the entire magic city classic experience. The boom box classic was all of that and more and I don't think I will miss another one! That said, there's nothing like taking a trip (even to LOWLY Baton Rouge) and getting your money's worth in fun and entertainment.
On the stadium saga, we do have two usuable stadiums. The Alexander Durley Field & Sports Complex now supports homecoming football games, Div. I soccer and track and field events.
Homecoming is livelier since hoco games are played on campus vs. downtown.
But I agree, we need larger more permanent bowl seating or stands on campus at Durley.
I personally miss Robertson Stadium (a public stadium shared with UH until they bought it and kicked us out). It was right down the street.

Go easy folks, both Bands were Great and remember Southern's Band was always put in the Endzone when we played in the rental stadiums in Houston, also the pettiness started with Brian (Ex. Jukebox Asst. Band Director - current TSU Director) during the game in Dallas last year. We'll have the same comparisons in two weeks when PVU comes to Baton Rouge whereas their Band Director is a former Jukebox Assistant also, what's the point in bashing any of the Bands when you know where the groundwork was laid. Go Jags😅
Why would you say go easy then call it a rental stadium when it's NOT. It's a shared stadium with the deal benefitting TSU for high level concessions and next to downtown Houston. Name one swac stadium with that kind of menu for eating and near a downtown metroplex like that for after the game? You cannot. You can like what you want but here yall go with the insults.

Southern University had size and great pens. However, the Ocean, out the gate, was Crisp, Clean, depth and balance was incredible. It was like listening to a beautiful symphony of music. The pens were magical and the song selections were top-tier. I have to say, the footage I saw from another CZcams Bandhead really captured a great sound quality of both band performances. A win for the 🌊🌊🌊 in my book.

I really enjoy your commentaries, however, for the record Southern University does not do general admission...season book holders are given first priority of seating in the stadium then to the general public...the sides have always been the seating for visiting bands, its just in recent years that they have moved the visiting closer 25:43

The DJ😂😂, if you were able to see SU groups...the DJ is a concern so it was not intended for this specific game. And I haven't seen one game that SWAC schools play in that they don't complain about SWAC refs.🤷♀️

TSU stadium is shared withe Houston Dynamo. Durkey the on campus stadium MAY be upgraded but its about money, exposure with THAT stadium in 2nd ward/East Downtown and not doing 3rd ward like UofH and mowing down more black people homes to put up a football stadium while making things available to the citizens who live around campus. For example...the garden with organic vegetables in an entire food desert part of town. Health and wellness acces to the health center and gyms.
