  • User stories and acceptance criteria are amongst the most common forms of documentation used in Agile and hybrid environments, yet they are often done incorrectly. In this video, I'll discuss the basics of writing a good user story as well as the various types of acceptance criteria using the Gherkin format for scenario-based stories and the checklist format for rule-based backlog items.
    By the end of this lesson, you'll be equipped to write good user stories and detailed acceptance criteria for your team.
    Business analysts and product owners who use best practices to write agile stories are of great value to any team!

    Sir, i have one question:
    When it's the product owner who writes the user story in the product backlog, then what is the role of BA here. Does BA conduct meeting with the product owner and then write detailed user story

    • @thebadoc
      @thebadoc  Před 3 měsíci

      Here, the product owner will likely be writing the higher-level stories in the form of Epics or Features. The business analyst helps refine the stories by ensuring they are complete and properly structures. The BA will also be adding more detail, breaking them down into smaller, actionable tasks (actual user stories). Then the BA will work with the PO and other stakeholders to define the acceptance criteria to further decompose the stories. The BA often needs to add supporting documentation to the stories such as process maps, mock-ups, diagrams, or data mapping to supplement the stories. Also, the BA will need to make sure that the stories align with the overall project goals. The BA will also play a key work during refinement session to help walk the development team through the stories so that they can be estimated/sized appropriately. I hope that helps.

      @@thebadoc yes I watched your all videos and this video as well...I mean you should take examples like user id, payment gateway, product page etc and show us how to write an effective user story and what would be the acceptance criteria... This way we all will get a good idea... 2 scenarios which you used were helpful but if you can please make another video of user stories and acceptance criteria with examples from eCommerce, insurance and banking domain that would be great
