  • Coogs' House! The Big 12 and Brett Yormark are making last ditch efforts to up the ante in terms of how much money each school will get. Is Private Equity a step too far? Is it a necessity?
What about just naming the conference after a sponsor? Does that help?
And how's Houston figure into all of that?
PLUS- Kelvin Sampson's urge to go to football games... all broken down by host Parker Ainsworth

Nothing good can come out of giving control of athletics to people who are only invested in the profitability of the conference, and who have no accountability to the actual success of the conference. These companies can buy ownership, drain short term profit and then sell the husk once they've gotten what they want.

Awesome content today...I for one hate the direction that money is dragging college sports I think Sampson's perspective is the realistic one. RE: Fritz and the football program....it's just a fact that it takes longer to turn a battleship than it does to turn a ski boat. I hope that he can move us fast enough to stay in the game. GO COOGS!!!!!!!

Private Equity seems like making a deal with the devil. I do think these programs should stop spending so much damn money each year, but private equity is a bad way forward.
Unless the firm truly believed the only way to profit was selling out stadiums, winning games, and protecting good coaches from being poached, I would say no.
    Have fun on your trip!

Since Houston is a state school, how can any entity buy a state university operation? Wouldn’t the state have to approve this?

I'd rather they have a PATCH on the front of team jerseys than name the conference after them.

It’s all about the $$$. The CVCXII I don’t even know how much that adds up to.

The Big 12 leadership is smart. If they get into private equity, it won't be a dumb deal. But i don't want them passing because of public pressure and regretting it.

Private equity is NOT the way to go. Have you not been paying attention to the financial woes caused by PE? Silly me. I always thought from ticket sales and TV revenue. Anything beyond that you’re just inviting trouble.

All I want to say is go Coogs. You’re talking about more ways to create opportunities, greed, corruption, monopolization, and capitalism? 😢
