No reason given. Many friends tell me I’m a perfect candidate. I was only wanting to experience different RVs and travel. Oh well.
I can see some liabilities on drivers, but if a rock Flys up and busts a windshield, that should NEVER be on the driver. But I do know companies nickle and dime everything and I'm betting you pay for that windshield. They mentioned hit and run is on you, how ? That's kind of your companies liability, that is what you have insurance for. I know many companies try to always put everything on the drivers while the company makes the big bucks and grow on the shoulders of the guys on the road.. normal expected damages should put added into the quote to the customer. Which in turn would cover cost. Tires? Is that on you too, if a defective tire blows and causes other damage let me guess it is on the driver to come out of pocket? I'm betting it is easy to get fired here. Pretty soon you pay to work at some of these companies..
You hire independent contractors so there are no benefits such as health insurance. What do your contractors do for health insurance? I have a hypoactive thyroid and need to see my doctor every six months and have to take synthroid every day. Not a big deal but I will need to have insurance to help pay for those things.
I currently live in Arizona. Can you tell me about the Oregon office? Also as far as a tow vehicle, I currently own an automatic Ford Explorer and am wondering if I can use that or whether I need to buy a standard shift car.
Teri, we do orientation at our Pendleton location as well as in Wakarusa, IN. For your tow car, the Explorer will likely be too big for towing. The manufacturers don't like anything much bigger than a Ford Escape, and even prefer something more like a Honda Civic. Some automatics can be towed on all 4's, but you should check with the maker or a mechanic first.
@@HorizonTransport that's outrageous, how do they expect people to move their equipment, living out their car. You can't live out of a Honda. Oh and you're not aloud to sleep in the equipment ether. Hotels are not the go to response, that is ridiculous. Explorer definitely should be aloud at a minimum. But of course these companies don't care about the people that solely keep their business alive. Guess I won't be working here. The equipment can easily handle an suv or truck.. some changes clearly need to be made to this industry, but we all know it won't happen, just like the rest of the broken industry.
Horizon Transport I do not have the long form but I do have a current physical the last company would not give me the long form I do have cerebral palsy in my right arm but the doctor said I do not need to go for a skill performance Because it's so minor any said I do not think it would affect your driving I also have a felony charge that was dropped unregistered BB gun in NJ will that be a problem
Wow, 3500 pounds? So you don't allow a proper vehicle weight for something you can actually live out of. Forcing all these guys to sleep in driver seat of some small car, and no, hotels are not an option. Or you will never get any miles under your belt, not just the fact of blowing a huge amount of your money. You will be in the middle of no where sleeping often. This is very disappointing, guess I won't be jumping in this industry after all.

A tow vehicle must be "flat" towable. No car dollies. But what about hauling your car on an 18ft car trailer?

Robert, health insurance is something the contractor would handle. Unfortunately, we do not have any info on what drivers are using.
All liability for everything falls on you bud. Company isn't liable for anything. Pure profit .

Yes, all commercial drivers are required to log and follow DOT regulations.
