Great scene. Admiral Kilbride’s character has added so much to the show. He’s learning as much from the team as they are from his leadership. And the acting is phenomenal.
I hope that the son appears in the story next season. I have to admit, this is the NCIS I didn’t stick with. I came to be a fan for only one reason. Gerald McRaney was coming on as a regular. I’ve been crazy about him since SIMON & SIMON. I’m always amazed at what he does with a character, good guy or bad, To see Kilbride try to build a relationship with his son would be great. Gerald can say so much with his eyes, without a word. He’d have a great opportunity to shine in scenes like that.
His comments inserted such a funny side to the show I didn’t knew I needed. Seeing that side of him with Deeks of all people was amazingly written. Can’t wait for the next season.
What makes it even better as you can see how geeks is using it as a shield. The cheerful attitude, the constant talking, the joking… They're a defense mechanism. Every so often, he plays it where Dietz looses that shield and you see the real Dietz. A scared little boy afraid of losing everything that matters to him. The season nine episode, "silo" a perfect example of that. Yes he's a happy guy, and he tries to be, but there's still that part of him, the try to protect. Anybody that gets said, he will become RUTHLESSLY protective of, because he refuses to lose anything that he cares about
The way Deeks says “and now he’s dead”, made me realize that there’s probably a part of him that hasn’t fully processed that his dad is gone. Even though it’s been years since he found out about his dad’s death, he probably tucked it away for the most part and never examined how it really made him feel and affected him.
@@kateg4623but I honestly can’t blame him. I mean even if he was young at the time, he had to do what was right despite the circumstances. And apparently to him killing his father was the only way he and his mother could be free from his father’s abuse
The monster in my father made me the person I am today, I don't drink, I don't resort to violence unless I am protecting myself or the person I love more than my next breath. while EVERY main character on this show has developed immensely ..... I don't think any of them have more than Martin A. After replaying this over and over I think I need to reach out to my old family members I pushed away since I was young it's been 8 years since I last spoke to them.
Just wanted to say that I accidentally hit the dislike button but it wasn't on purpose. I removed it right afterwards, but wanted to let you know it wasn't intentional.
It all depends on why you pushed them away. Remember narcissists and toxic people rarely change and given half a chance will drag you back down. On the other hand, if you pushed them away over a simple mistake and/or misunderstanding, it might well be worth reconnecting. Just be clear with yourself over why you left and decide from there what you want to do.
@@Valeska687 left them because they did crime, lied to me, drugs, and choose others over true family that love them vs people they barely know but I did reconnect and just show why I left them behind because their old ways came back so.
Killbride’s response when Deeks said it’s never too late surprised me. The man admits to playing a part in his son’s problems, but has given up trying to do something. You should never give up on your children.

Agreed. I honestly felt so bad for Deeks. He’s been through so much. So have Fatima, Kilbride, Rountree, Callen, Kensi, and Sam. Same thing goes for his old teammates Hetty, Granger, Mosley, Hidoko, Lance, DeChamps, Michelle, Eric, Nell, Whiting, Bates, and the others.

No I disagree. I think Gibbs was so much more of a dad.. if Shannon and Kelly had been alive Gibbs would not have been focused on his career or his job.. they were more important to him.. he became a workholic after their death.. throughput the seires we see how much of a good dad he is by the way he is with his agents..
I remember this story. Gordon John Brandel, Deeks’s father, was very abusive to him and his mom Roberta, so to protect himself and his mom, Deeks shot his father with his own gun
I am so behind on that series and the reruns seems to jump seasons and it’s very annoying but can someone confirm if Deeks is alive or was he removed from the show cause I’ve seen a season where he’s just gone and they don’t reference him at all

It'd be interesting to see a flashback of Deeks' past with family and LAPD, both were unhappy
I haven't watched this in awhile but this just popped into my feed and so I checked it out. Man, Deeks is getting old! :D

You know, I think Deeks and Kilbride are developing a friendship. They both feel sorry for each other for what they’ve been going through.

@@aliciaborth3016 Hetty did know. It was actually covered in one of Deeks' early episodes with the team.
