Unvergessliche Zeiten. Er war und bleibt ein Juwel = Klenot.
fuck! absolutely brilliant. I always loved Barber's willingness to push boundaries of jazz and this demonstrates why I feel that way. A real mix. Emotional stuff.
On this video, you can see (and hear) the Jackie Flawelle's fantastic virtuosity (on bass) Best wishes to all Forna4 friends around the world. Jo Luttringer (France).
Fantastic! At long last one of the rarest recordings of the Chris Barber Jazz & Blues Band on youtube. Thanks fortna4 for the upload. The Panton record was - in my opinion - extremely hard to get in (western) Europe. I'm happy to have an almost brand new copy of the LP. Personnel of the band: Chris Barber / tb Pat Halcox / tp John Crocker / cl, as John Slaughter / gt Stu Morrison / bjo Jackie Flavelle / bs Graham Burbidge / dr Ottilie Patterson / voc Tunes on video: - I never shall forget (not on LP) - Panama (not on LP) - Texas Moaner (bass solo) - the bass solo has been edited on the LP! The following tunes are completely on the LP: - Savoy Blues - The Weight - Czikosh - Dr. Jazz (with Ottilie Patterson) - Trixies Blues (with Ottilie Patterson)
Taking advantage of having s good banjoist. For a change. Always their weak spot I thought. But what a thankless job it is: banjo in a trad band! Ottilie was the only one who even looked at Stu in this show!
There is also a recording from MJF '84 and it is excellent music as usual. These gentlemen around Chris Barber will not disappoint.. 👍
Fantastic! Many thanks for posting
Fantastic Panama rag! Fantastic Doctor Jazz and Ottilie Patterson.
R.I.P.
BIG BIG BIGGEST Jazz-Man ever......

Mes "seventeen", 60 ans plus tard j'aime toujours autant, de l'étoffe de Luter, Saury, Laferierre
Du bon "old good trad", non du très bon. Enjoy it!
Ottilie Patterson do a fine job here. Together with good playing band. 👍🎤

For Brian Cox: Doctor Jazz. Ottilie doing her frumpy, overweight Slavic-girl routine. Classic stuff. 29:18

They had some bloody corny haircuts back in those days.
