Simply lovely. Delightful. Many thanks, Sand Wolf.
Simply magnificent, definitive performances ! Thanks !!
Just rediscovered these and realized their beauty, recently. Thanks for making andras schiff playing it exist on CZcams. Many thanks.
Thank you so much.
Just beautiful 🙏
Stupenda esecuzione.
Y was born exactly one month after this, it's amazing to think how many art was there before me lol
Wonderful uploding....
Thank you, thank. you, thank you.

Wow nice performance, great beautiful sonatas and the execution is sublime. I’m missing though a bit more of left hand, more of the bass line, but I don’t blame Sir András Schiff.
Warm and graceful
How many years flowed those two maestro played Shubert's imprompt together. Awesome~
I don't know the piece, but surely it was _Schubert's Impromptu,_ not "Shubert's imprompt."
Thank you. These are beautifully played.
Amo esta sonata. Excelente versión
Thank you for this gem! Great music, great players!
Mastery is blisss!
7:39 "Andante" ❤

Ez csodálatos :)
Thank you so much for uploading this ! I have played them all so very helpful.
Maravilla , solo
Bach juega con silencio y llega profundo a nuestra sensibilidad
This performance is fabulous by two great Hungarian artists, Andras Schiff and Miklos Perenyi. Thank you so much. (A szivem melyebol gratulalok Amerikabol. Eljen a magyar kulonosen a mustani szomoru Orban diktatura alatt.)
👏👏👏👏👏
28:20 WOW, Bach modulates where no other baroque composer dared! Fantastic music! Could perhaps the last sonata had been originally a cello concerto? I find it hard to believe he didn't write one solo concerto for the cello during his happy days at Kohten.
Right on!
It's spelled _Koethen,_ not "Kohten."
The consensus among modern Bach scholars is that the sonatas for viola da gamba and harpsichord were written in Leipzig, not Koethen, in the late 1730s and early 1740s. See Dreyfus, Wolff and Jones.
The structure of BWV 1029 suggests that it was derived from a (lost) concerto that might have been scored like Brandenburg Concerto #6, i.e., for 2 violas, 2 violas da gamba, cello, violone, and harpsichord. Such a concerto has been reconstructed using BWV 1029 and BWV 1051 as models.
Scordatura?? 26:35. Wow
That first movement is so sad.
Music without boards. Just before i have heard duet Glen Gould with Leonard Rose..
And that was...lame, wasn 't it ?
I hope that Maestro Rose didn't mind GG's humming.
Andras is adding a lot of embellishments while the cellist sticks to the score. I wonder if that is just how baroque compositions are supposed to be. The two parts are equal so I would think the cellist would have the same freedom
Since Sir Àndras is a recognized expert on All Things Bach I would have to assume that his ornamentations to the piece are not out-of-bounds, especially since he is not known as a being a licentious ornaamentator.
@@excelsior999 ok but it is jarring
