    This is what Jimmy said about Mike: “I think Mike is perfect for what Billy is doing now; a great drummer with an extremely bright future.”
    Also, Mike is a great singer (listen to their performance of Black Diamond on Rock In Rio! Mike does lead vocals there) and he plays the keys too. I think he really adds something to the Pumpkins.

    I don't get how anyone is complaining about this performance. It's absolutely perfect, and everyone sounds exactly like the original band.

    I must say that the drummer did a really great job, considering that the parts of jim aren't the easiest.

    I saw them live at virgin festival in 06 or something like that when Jimmy was still with them, then again in 09 with Mike, hes an amazing drummer. Yeah he doesn't match Jimmy's every fill, but hes sitting in the seat of his idol basically, must be surreal.

    I like the way it turns into I Am One in the end! Great song.

    Everyone seems to be blaming Mike for the lack of punch of this version but it has nothing to do with him and everything to do with the fact there is no power-chorded distortion for the opening riff, just two lead parts with super spacey effects on them.

    :( This is my favorite Smashing Pumpkins song of all time and it is sad to hear how far the luster of this once great gem has dulled out...especially with this version of the intro. Jimmy's roaring drums and James's aggressive guitar lead are all gone. I still think their best performance of this song was the 11/29/2000 concert at the United Center, Chicago, IL. Jimmy's drumming was simply on fire and the band was at it's best playing live.

    @JeffreyIngle nope, there's only one Jimmy for sure. but even so, there aren't too many drummers out there that could keep up with Mikey.

    @nicholsjoshua15 I agree. I has far more technical skill and his experience in being in a shoegazing band makes him a great fit for the band. I but some songs, he is hit or miss, and this song is one where he is a 'miss'.

    There's no doubt that Jeff is a better live player than Iha but there's some intensity lost in the rest of the performance and Billy's just going through the zombie vocals routine. I'd take the performances from 1996 over this any day. I like how they worked in "I Am One" at the end ... my favorite song meld remains Rocket/Porcelina from the Machina tour.

    It's not too bad, slowed down, but there's obviously not half as much chemistry here as 1996 live versions

      You have no fucking clue what you are talking about. You didnt even catch the end where they pulled out I AM ONE. So sick of you fake as casual fans who listen to singles instead of albums.

  • @ThePatrickshumack
    @ThePatrickshumack Před 11 lety

    It's definitely not the same, but I dunno if you could argue that one is better than the other. They're two fundamentally different bands that play the same songs, really.

    I agree, first of all Chamberlin is a MUST for these songs, I have tried to accept bryne but I just can't. Also I miss James a lot, also wish Lisa Harrinton was still on Keys. And the Bass doesn't matter. Given D'Arcys legal and substance probs she wouldn't be able to be in the band anyways. JC PLEASE COME BACK

    I agree with ffxxii on this one, but for the most part i like the reworkings with the new fit. One other example where it doesn't work for me is the drumming on Cherub Rock live, other than stuff like that that they make the songs work better than ever live. Always thought Ruby was a bit overhyped anyhow but I always litened to it for the little spacey bit at the end.

    I would kill to be in Mike's seat even though I play guitar rather than drums. Music is music is what you need to understand. For example: would you have enjoyed it if you drew your mom a picture and took it to her only to have her cast it aside and call you mediocre for not being Escher?

  • @Alexgrace99
