I got this for $359 new and unlocked @ 8GB/258GB (taxes included) on Amazon Prime Day. I don't care about latest and greatest cameras, nor about stupid gaming. I care about screen size and battery life, close to stock Android,... plus I'm sick of Samsung and their highway robbery priced phones. Motorola is a great brand.
When reviewing smart phones, it seems no one ever covers the device's primary function: How well it works as a phone ... background noise canceling, clear audio (ear piece and microphone), volume, hearing-aid compatibility, number blocking, headset options ... stop thinking of it as a game machine and consider it as a communications device. Sadly an old fashioned Maw Bell analog desk phone usually works better as a phone (clarity and reliability) than any cell phone.
I purchased this Motorola g stylus 2022 version instead of the Motorola g stylus 2023 I did my research and it has better specs the only difference is that the 2023 version has stereo speakers,
@@javonjohnson4394 it performs very good on basic every day tasks. I wouldn't say it's a powerhouse but it has great optimization, it performs tasks easily and smoothly with that 120hz display.
After reviewing many, many phones in the 3 to $600.00 range I decided on this phone. Got an unlocked G Stylus 5G for the reduced price of $249.99 and it is a fantastic phone. I like it much better than my A53 company phone. Both phones are extremely similar but my G Stylus is larger, has more storage, a headphone jack, a stylus and is CHEAPER. Great review.
not to brag but i got it for 28 dollars due to some shenanigan's. 9.99 on boost mobile with 15 dollar one month plan. then 1.75 unlock code on ebay. it is pretty cool, just wish it had a brighter lcd or a oled, but i get it for the price. oh and mine is 4gb/128 storage version, probably partly why it was cheap, but it's still pretty fast. and the 120hz and stylus is cool as heck for a cheap phone, kids would absolutely love the stylus. funny to google reviews and see ppl review it as 400-500 phone lol. its at best buy for 199 rn. anyways imo. i'd get a nord n20 at that 200 price. 6gb ram and oled. i got some nord n20's from metro pcs (they auto unlock in 6 months from activation with metro, i have about 2 months left to wait) for 40-60, and a galaxy a23 as well lol, lots of deals out there where you cheat the systems. only con on metro deals is you have to wait 6 months for then to unlock (but you need only pay for one month service then throw it in a drawer and wait hence the 40-60)
@@cryengine_x Totally agree that this Moto Stylus G5 is a cool phone and that the only problem is that the screen is not very bright at all and is terrible in any kind of sunlight.
I will stick with my 2021 version for a while because I have to since I have 2 of them. My insurance replacement phone for my second line was a Motorola stylus 5g after already having one. I originally had a Samsung A32 5g and the system was so laggy and wouldn't receive service in some areas. Took it back and got the Motorola stylus 5g 2021 and it's been smooth. I really don't care if they don't provide multiple years of updates as long as my phone is running smoothly and I probably will not even have the phone as my main phone for more than 2-3 years. The battery life on it is great. It's a good feeling knowing that you can use your phone all day without worrying if your phone is going to die the middle of the day.
The best phone I ever had was the Motorola Z Force Droid. I had the first gen and the 3rd. The mods were absolutely sick and the shatterproof screen was the prime reason I loved Motorola. I dropped that phone without a case on thousands of times and after many years it never broke. After years of having it the battery finally started to go when I started to play genshin on it all the time but I still used it for games keeping it plugged in and loved it more than my new phone the Motorola one Ace. I was so disappointed when I realized that they switched the screens to the same crap iphones use that just break so easily and quickly. I miss the mods I would get compliments and questions then show ppl all the time and ppl loved it as did I. I was really passionate about the Z Forces lol to the point that I stayed with Motorola and told everyone how good they are. I was an iphone user before this and man the difference was amazing. Anyway, I hope one day they bring back their most innovative phone.. Hail the Z Force and moto mods!
A con for me would be that sometimes it does kicks you out of the apps, mostly games and for example, when I play call of duty it works well but it just kicks me out for no reason at random moments
I've had this happen to me, but I believe it's because of the "slide to go back" gesture. For example, to go to the list of servers I'm in on discord, I swipe from the left towards the middle. This kicks me out a lot of the time.
I just got one this week for $9.99 from a Boost Mobile new customer deal with $40 unlimited plan. Not a new customer but I wanted the phone lol I'll just let the unlimited plan lapse and swap sims
I love this phone i got it at best on the black friday week 129.54 out the door what a steal dusty rose color also 5000mah cant go wrong with that price so nice and easy to use👍
Go for the 2021 version of this phone; it's just about as good but only $200 or less. The only inferiority is the 60hz refresh rate, but it's silly anyway to have a phone as your primary movie and TV source. Besides, I don't see any problems watching video content on it, and the camera is just fine.
Not too concerned about the lack of official updates since the bootloader can be unlocked and people are already working on unofficial open source ROM's potentially LineageOS could be an option at some point.
You know it is a great little new mobile phone however one of the cons (for me) is that the equaliser doesn't able to manually operated and as I understanding that it by its own internal prohibition also it will NOT use its EQ for 3.5 mm jack (that sucks) Last but nor least T-Mobile is selling one for only $299 US dollars (that was nice)
I was tempted when it was on sale for $349, my main concerns are close to stock android and at least a 90hz refresh rate. I'm waiting until next year to buy a new phone tho, and honestly the only 1 os update is a real bummer. Wish Google would get the a series up to at least a 90hz refresh rate.
Motorola may lack updates and the cameras could be better, but you lose credibility imo by suggesting the a53 5g which I hear is very laggy and has awful performance. People obsess WAY too much over cameras. I'd rather have a Motorola that has stable performance like the Stylus 5g than the a53 5g with horrible performance. I will agree $500 is too much for this phone the same way $450 was too much for the a53 5g. But if you catch it on sale it's $249 which makes it a much better deal.

@@mikejp9393 Interesting. I didn't know they had it in 4GB RAM configuration. I thought it was just 6 and 8. I bought the 6GB/128GB through Metro for $40. I just bought this phone to replace my Redmi note 10 pro. I wanted a 5G phone and this was a reasonable price. The sad thing is that my three year old Redmi has a better amoled screen with 120 refresh rate, a better camera, a 30 amp charger, glass back and an Antutu score about the same for 220 dollars. It's sad that the only thing that this phone has that the Redmi doesn't is 5G and 8 gb ram and 256 storage and it's original price was 500 dollars. Someone at Moto was smoking crack. This is a decent phone for the 240 dollars I paid for it but 500 was way over priced. I probably would have bought another Redmi, but being strapped for cash at the holidays Amazon was allowing payments with no interest. I'm not disappointed with it, but I know there are better choices for about the same price. Shop around.
Samsung mid tier phones are very overrated to me. Had one and I had to return it in a few days after owning it. Got a stylus 5g 2021 and it was much smoother...
Exactly. I get super bored with my phone after about a year or two. Not to mention technology moves so fast that even two year old phones are considered old tech. It's also my experience that years of updates just slow down the phone and make it useless.
@@oddsnends3090 It slows down the phone because your RAM hasn't changed but the apps and updates get larger and less compatible with your "older" hardware over time.

Paid 200 at Walmart under the trac phone flag. But all the videos I've seen to the front facing cam is in the center. Mine is on the left side. What's that about?
Really nice of Motorola to give consumers the microSD card lot, headphone jack, and a stylus, though they could have gone even further and drop that holepunch. 😅 Hopefully the 2023 version will address that. 😶
I'm pretty sure for phone carriers, it's 128GB/6GB RAM. If you're buying it from anyone else, it's either 128GB/4GB RAM, 128GB/6GB RAM, or 256GB/8GB RAM. I heard you can use a little bit of your storage to increase the ram of the phone, though I heard it's only 1.5GB of extra ram
yo I got the phone from metro for 285$, I was originally gonna get the 1st gen but they didn't have any but they said that they barely got the 2nd gen yesterday so I decided to get it. ( I was the first one to get one )

I just grabbed this from our Costco for $309 USD Equivalent, but it only has 4gb RAM :( which it did not say instore until i searched the settings. I'd read 8gb as well. but I should have ready Costco's site. I'm going to give it a trial, I have 90 days, but the low RAM and only 1 update, which i learned here thank you, is pretty sucky. I'm coming off a Samsung S9 so the camera to be is comparable or better, since that was 12mp and 1 lens. But we shall see. It's such a good deal, but it's got me thinking Google 6a if this isn't good. Thank goodness to lenient return polices.
Coming from a Samsung S9, I just bought this yesterday for $350 Cad. Pros for me: Price -cheap for features. 120ghz screen. 128gb memory. SD card slot. Headphone jack. Larger screen. Stylus is cool. Battery life-more than the whole day with constant videos, audiobooks, messaging etc. Cons: 1 speaker, not stereo. Some apps will open then close immediately first time I try. Only 4gb RAM. App icon notifications are just a dot, won't tell you you have 20 unread messages on the app icon. sllllllloooooow charging. Doesn't seem to charge at all in my car but everything else I own does. Messed with battery settings no difference. Slow on its own brick as well compared to how fast my S9 charged. 1 update coming or already here I'm not sure, but that's a bummer. 50mp camera, not that great. Doesn't have the live shot thing Samsung does, that easily takes short video and creates clips and images on its own but also lets you edit the section to create your own. Bummer I use it frequently. I got this at Costco. I have 90 days to try and return, but I'm 80% sure it's going back. Overall for $350 cad, it's a good deal, and that's my hold up. The next option is $385 Google 6a, but that has a laggy 60ghz screen. Next after that would be $700 for a Samsung s21 FE. 2x the price hurts my soul.
Hey Katherine , check out the Motorola Edge Plus. It's on sale for $499.99 now. Great specs.on that phone. I would Never consider any phone with less than 120ghz screen. I hate a laggy screen!!

Headphone Jack Stock Android Motorola My UX Gorilla Glass 3 Motorola is guaranteeing 3 years for the 2022 Motorola G Stylus vs the usually 2 years - that's 3 years of Security Patch Updates (but only 1 Android OS Update). I get it, Lenovo is a smaller company compared to Samsung .... but in order to compete? You got to come to the table like Samsung and Google (Pixel) - this also means you Nokia, TCL, Oneplus Nord - which in my opinion? should also include some form of trade-in policy (I have a feeling that's going to be the next thing Motorola improves on!) I wouldn't pay $500 for this Device (or any Device) , but I would definitely turn in my 2020 Motorola G Stylus 4G LTE when / if Metro by T-Mobile has a 2022 5G Variant available at $300 (or less!) I've always enjoyed the back colours on my Motorola's, I'm fine putting a clear case on it, I'd be happy if Motorola wanted to do a 'matte colour' (it would be nice if the Carrier Variant comes in more than just one colour), their Stylus software has come a long way in 2 years. Plenty of competition within what I call the $300 price range (that's good for Consumers). 2022 is going to be an interesting year to see who sells globally.
90 hz vs 120hz just depends on the processor. The 480 5g would be a massive Downgrade from the 695(you're talking the worst 5g chip by Qualcomm vs. a mid-range chip. The drop from 6 to 128 with the same processor would do something to drive down the price without comprising performance.
@@hasankazmi9832 I still use the 2020 g stylus. Should I hold on to this phone for another year untill it's no longer supported? Or jump on this new 5g. When I updated to A11 my phone's battery life drains faster. I don't want that happening to the same thing with the 5g phone going to A13
Hold on for 1 more OS update. Samsung's a01/2/3-a20/21/22/23 series suck ass so that's why your battery got destroyed. The 2020 stylus is good and as close to stock android as it gets so android 13 on it won't affect the phone negatively one bit. I'm not disappointed with it, but I know there are better choices for about the same price. Shop around.
Free at walmart with 3 month service and $20 in store activation fee total out the door $162
A53 has lag issues
Samsung mid tier phones are very overrated to me. Had one and I had to return it in a few days after owning it. Got a stylus 5g 2021 and it was much smoother...
Can you make the clock bigger?
I have dropped my moto 3 times in the toilet and it still rocks as good as it did when I first bought it!!! And no I don't have a case cover on it!!!
I believe they are water proof I think not 100 percent sure
I just bought this for 150 at Walmart
Does it have 6 gigs of ram? I doubt it.
@@darlenepaul2934 The one from Metro does. It even has a boost setting where you can use a gigabyte of the internal storage to make it 7.5 gb of ram.
Apparently, T-Mobile must have watched your video because I got mine yesterday for $300. Great video!
Tmobile only offers 128gb..correct?
I got mine for 120$
Metro by T-Mobile has them for free if u buy a $40 card
Why would you want the same phone for 4 years?
Coz we poor people...its forever phone we need.
I use my phones for 2 years min usually 3. Always got the lg stylo. Good phone for cheap price
I had my iphone 5 for 11 years and it worked fine until they shut it off and I had to get a new phone. Don't be wasteful
I dropped this phone in water for a second think anything bad will happen
Have you noticed anything lately?
@@partycrashers22 no I dropped it in the toilet for a second that's what actually happened if you leave this phone anywhere in the water for 30 seconds it won't fuck up I saw a video he opened the phone up right after and no water got inside
@@JesManVP thats good. How do you like the phone? I have the 2020 stylus and thinking about getting a new phone. But afraid I might be downgrading myself. Seeing what moto is doing not sure if I should jump ship and join samsung
@@partycrashers22I have the moto g stylus 2022 non 5g that is a downgrade I don't notice it as much because all I do is watch CZcams but anyways I played rocket league on my moto g stylus 2021 and I would get 60 fps on high settings but on the moto g stylus 2022 I would get 25 fps on Rocket league so yea if your going to get this phone get the 5g version it has a little better chip than the moto g stylus 5g 2021 I would recommend you to get that phone moto g stylus 5g 2021 another bad thing with the phone I have moto g stylus 2022 it's so slow on charging I regret buying this phone it's not terrible but it was not worth it
@@JesManVP so what I'm understanding is that. If I want to get a new moto that's a bit faster and let's say keep up with the OS updates get the 2022 5g stylus. Or just keep what I have until it's no longer supported and see what moto does in 2023
Paid 200 at Walmart under the trac phone flag. But all the videos I've seen to the front facing cam is in the center. Mine is on the left side. What's that about?
You must have picked up the 2021 moto g stylus 5g. Is yours emerald green?
@@oddsnends3090 emerald. Hard glossy back. Looks cool.
@@ididntagreeYou've got the moto g stylus 5g 2021 then. It's a great phone too. And I agree, that emerald green is stunning 👍
It is a nice color. But the phone case hides it and I'm having trouble finding a tutorial on the stylus uses.
@@ididntagree I don't know if it will be of any help or not, but hopefully you'll get something out of it :)
One better option is the Galaxy egg tree 5g? What did he say?
Motorola needs to go amoled screen with this device line. Then it will be a samsung s22 cheaper option.
Basically would be a FE other option
It is technology... Amoled does not match with pen/stylus.
They would but they stayed with a 720 p screen while phone were getting in to 2000 pixel screen
This phone is better than any S22 and FE edition from Samsung. Ngl
when is this phone come to cricket wireless
@Timothy S. EMERY really ....
I just got mine from there
Really nice of Motorola to give consumers the microSD card lot, headphone jack, and a stylus, though they could have gone even further and drop that holepunch. 😅 Hopefully the 2023 version will address that. 😶
Don't buy this phone if you are big in heavy multi-tasking, I just upgraded (thankfully).
The price dropped to $250. Pretty good deal now.
Cool video talk to tech Motorola g stylus 5g cellphone tech right I have the Motorola g stylus 5g 2021 version cellphone tech right
I wish I had waited for . A54 this display not bright at all
The camera is actually great if you learn how to use your shutter speed
Aint it 6gb ram?
No it's 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of ROM
It's 4gb ram att
I'm pretty sure for phone carriers, it's 128GB/6GB RAM. If you're buying it from anyone else, it's either 128GB/4GB RAM, 128GB/6GB RAM, or 256GB/8GB RAM. I heard you can use a little bit of your storage to increase the ram of the phone, though I heard it's only 1.5GB of extra ram
yo I got the phone from metro for 285$, I was originally gonna get the 1st gen but they didn't have any but they said that they barely got the 2nd gen yesterday so I decided to get it. ( I was the first one to get one )
I broke my iphone so I decided to switch back to original phone
How are you liking the new 5g stylus?
Got one free through straight talk with a 3-month service plan purchase $130.00...
My battery drains fast how do I fix this???? Someone help please!!!
Does it have NFC?
No one will answer that for me either
This one does the non 5G doesn't
@@Bell0113 yes the moto G stylus 5g 2022 has NFC
Yes the moto G stylus 5G 2022 has NFC
they have one for $50 right now! boost mobile in case anyone is interested (June 2023)
Right now free at metro and you don't even have to port your number in.
Mine didnt came with a TURBO CHARGER,it just has the 10W charger,😤
That's the max fast charge for the phone
Can't come with more because that's what the phone can handle
Both of those phones are too expensive.
Just bought this online . a open box one. has 128gb plus a 6gb ram. Paid. with tax=$180. now just wait till it gets here. my daughter lost my Samsung yesterday in a walmart store. no body turned it in. oh well. went right away to block the number.
I love my Z force.. don't wanna move on from it... Bring it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please!!!!!! But same size so I can still use my mods! Thank you! ... But I'll try this phone out until the Z returns! Lol
6 gigs of ram sir
@RealNNews, the factory-unlocked version on the Motorola website has 8gb ram and 512gb internal storage.
"let's make a good phone but make it outdated fast LMAO"
And I get it for 179 straight talk😂😂😂😂
I believe this phone has correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't this phone have USB type c video out that's pretty amazing right doesn't it have that if it does
got mine for 280
I just grabbed this from our Costco for $309 USD Equivalent, but it only has 4gb RAM :( which it did not say instore until i searched the settings.
Crazy that no one makes a good stylus phone.. what the F.
Literally only Samsung... Cannot believe there's no other good options
It's mili(milly)amp!
i set my refresh rate to 60 unlesss playing games.
Good thing I paid $10
2 days of battery life if you don't use it haha
That's true but it still does last a really long time even with intense use.
💪💪💪
This phone said "made for US" please I want to know if it can work outside the United States,... like the UAE, Africa? Please help me know.
Yeah the 📸 on this 📱 is 🚫
So go with ANYTHING Samsung! what iv'e been saying for last 2/3 years!
8Gigs of RAM *
256Gigs of ROM *
(* would 6Gigs of RAM, 128Gigs of ROM drive down the price without compromising the performance?)
Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G *
(* would the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 + 5G drive down the price and work just as good without compromising the performance?)
NFC (finally!)
5,000 mAh Battery
120 Hz refresh rate *
(* would 90 Hz be enough, drive down the price without compromising the performance?)
Headphone Jack
Stock Android
Motorola My UX
Gorilla Glass 3
Motorola is guaranteeing 3 years for the 2022 Motorola G Stylus vs the usually 2 years - that's 3 years of Security Patch Updates (but only 1 Android OS Update). I get it, Lenovo is a smaller company compared to Samsung .... but in order to compete? You got to come to the table like Samsung and Google (Pixel) - this also means you Nokia, TCL, Oneplus Nord - which in my opinion? should also include some form of trade-in policy (I have a feeling that's going to be the next thing Motorola improves on!)
I wouldn't pay $500 for this Device (or any Device) , but I would definitely turn in my 2020 Motorola G Stylus 4G LTE when / if Metro by T-Mobile has a 2022 5G Variant available at $300 (or less!)
I've always enjoyed the back colours on my Motorola's, I'm fine putting a clear case on it, I'd be happy if Motorola wanted to do a 'matte colour' (it would be nice if the Carrier Variant comes in more than just one colour), their Stylus software has come a long way in 2 years.
Plenty of competition within what I call the $300 price range (that's good for Consumers). 2022 is going to be an interesting year to see who sells globally.
Plus Google screen calls is available here as well
90 hz vs 120hz just depends on the processor.
I don't want that happening to the same thing with the 5g phone going to A13
Well said.
Hold on for 1 more OS update. Samsung's a01/2/3-a20/21/22/23 series suck ass so that's why your battery got destroyed. The 2020 stylus is good and as close to stock android as it gets so android 13 on it won't affect the phone negatively one bit. Get the 2023 stylus that will have 3 years of OS updates and take you from Android 13 out of the box(hopefully) to Android 16 or at worst case cones with android 12 that takes you thru android 15. This chip is NOT very strong.
