I think the low E string is dropped to C# and the rest is an open D chord on the opening riff played by Mike (Kanami in the video).
Hmmm interesting open D with C# I have to try that. I wonder if Kanami will start playing with alt tunings after this?
Looks to me like Mincho is playing a full D chord at the end ( 5:36 ). From what I hear I think the guitars are tuned a half step down and the E (now Eb) string is further down a step, so instead of drop D it's drop C#.
Recent acoustic show was in their usual 2023/2024 version of costumes.
Looks like Cluppo took on 4 additional bandmates to perform the song that they co-wrote with Einziger. Good work Cluppo! 😛
With the song being entirely in English and with Mike's involvement, it definitely seems like a pitch for a bit more mainstream attention. Could the outfits also be related to that? I find when I recommend Band Maid I'm always having to initially make excuses for the costumes. The gap Miku talks about is a fun contrast, but it's also something audiences might have to get over to begin with, in these dresses that stops being an issue.

The clothing on Band Maid's Christmas acoustic was red and tan.
MISA's playing and bass tone are setting new standards... and Akane's drumming is so in-the-pocket and distinguishable... and Kanami's solo is Daydreaming masterful! The recording and mix are as enjoyable as the song. Miku and Saiki's lyrics are heartfelt. "I can't look into your eyes." Is Band-Maid a band of fashion-forward, trend-setting Besties? 💞 Thx, Mikey & Band-Maid!

Good song. They have the white on , like LOVEBITES but, a different kind of white. They keep moving on and up.
I am honest: I was afraid that the new song is not as good as the old stuff from Band Maid. And yes, Bestie is a pop song, no hard rock and no typical Band Maid complexity. They do that now and then ... and I like that. Nevertheless, it needs some time to creep into my ears but now its an ear worm ;-)
Same with this video: I didn't expect much, but Whow! And I am not sure if I like their dress style IMHO too old fashioned) but their hair style make them even more pretty and mature. You cannot "optimize" Miku and Misa ... but I very much like the new look of Saiki, Kanami and Akane. Please keep it that way! Love it.

That’s Kanami’s regular PRS 6-string. Nothing different there. I think it is in an open D tuning with the E tuned down to C# though. Something like that anyway.

The lyrics are great, the song is nice. But to me it's much to poppy, to clean, to mainstream. It's radiofriendly, but it never surprises musicaly. I simply often miss some Gacha-Effects at Band Maid! Some unexpected Jazz, Fusion or classic Rock elements. Maybe I listend a little to much to GS. But don't get me wrong, I like Band Maid absolutly. Not allways, but often...
