- Whilst this isnt near the longest I've spent on a video, It has taken quite a bit to get done. Anyway, its finished, a sorta video essay on why and how Adobe's creative cloud is so easy to pirate.

if Adobe wasn't so greedy with the pricing and heavy with the anchoring tactics to prevent a person from unsubbing, more people would probably drop some money instead of pirating.
Adobe and Microsoft used to sell software with annual updates. Then they started selling in bundles only, which then led to subscriptions.

They could just apply the subscription model to just the cloud save feature and leave the one time purchase scheme as is, but somehow the greed kicks in and they suddenly wants way more money
I think one point is missing here. Adobe doesn't really care that you pirate the software. A lot of profesinalla user have started with a cracked version. They teach themselves and get a job in the field. Therefore they wanna use Adobe for their work. And as cooperation can't pirate software they have to buy from Adobe. So for Adobe it's actually kinda good that People pirate the software as it forces company into the ecosystem.
It's kinda like with winrar, the money comes from cooperation and not from the individual user.

@@kinghosty It's not that simple for them to sue you, imagine you are an indepedant graphic designer then how would they know you're using photoshop at first ? They can't. It's not like they will come to your house and check your pc "just in case".
Trust me bro there is a lot of company using illegal softwares. Most of the companys in the world are the little one with not much budget so it would not suprise me if 50% of the world is using at least one pirated thing.

Pirating adobe isnt as bad for them as you think. Since you arent gonna pay its better for them to let you pirate then to let you switch to a different program, this way they keep beeing the industry standard and competition is less Popular
Yes and in my opinion Adobe pricing is high for the same reason windows pricing are so high they are not really made to be sold to you but to companies that can't use pirated software.
Tell that to the "non-genuine app" pop-ups that keep appearing on my pirated version lol 🤣 I only use Premiere or PS to make this (small) channel's CZcams videos, but those pop-ups basically force me to turn off the internet and block firewall for the Adobe apps. Not sure if auto-saves or other stuff is needing Adobe servers or not (I'm a noob if you couldn't tell lol).

5:00 For adobe the most famous method actually does not require you do download an installer. It works through injecting the code into the legitimately downloaded software. So you would download the "trial version" from creative cloud and then just patch the trial version

The thing is the DRM doesn't need to be strong because these programs are industry standard, so the majority of their customers are industry, who aren't going to pirate the software. On the other hand, DRM in video games has to be very strong because the majority of their customers are the individual customers, who would be more inclined to pirate.

Brazilian speaking here, is it serious that you can be arrested for pirating abroad or is it just a joke, because here in Brazil we pirate for the reason that it doesn't make sense with our salary to buy such things, (I'm talking about Brazilians with a minimum wage) especially the Adobe basically rents products like streaming, and piracy in Brazil is practically a part of our history, PS2 only did well here because it was unlocked for pirated games, I still remember going to stores to buy those modified GTAs and several games paying just 3 reais (0.53 cents at the current price), it was magical, Brazilian childhood is beautiful.

Adobe won’t care about pirates, in fact they probably love that their software gets cracked. Cracking their software means you learn it, which means if you actually need it for a professional setting, you’ll have to pay for it. Students learning off of cracked Adobe will be forced to buy it for work, or have to learn a whole new suite of software
Not really... Once you learn photoshop, it's only really a matter of translating the tools you've learned into a similar software. Kind of like C to C#, but easier

2:57 Well, for Substance stuff, they are industry standard and they're one of the few Adobe products that are still justifiably-priced. Texturing in Blender or any other 3D software is feasible, but it still doesn't come close to Substance Painter and Designer, especially Painter. They have perpetual license for Substance in conjunction with subscription models and they're actually worth the price. Substance is not as popular because it's a niche product in a niche industry and they're more like addons to streamline or add more features to the workflow and they excel at what they aim to do, making them a godsend for those that want it.

adobe doesn't give you setups for over 2 years. they force you to download creative cloud, but you can still obtain them by asking support for "standalone installer of ___"
response may vary; ones say that they dont have them, others say that they dont have access to setups, and someone who will give it to you

Another aspect is that, for many users, the most recent versions haven't added any meaningful features but have slower performance, and interfaces that are bloated and laggy. I had to take a course on Photoshop in school and all the files i made in Photoshop 2023 for that course loaded and worked fine on the copy of CS6 i have at home. In fact I would often just waist time in class and do the work at home since PS 2023 would constantly freeze and crash, where as I don't think CS6 has ever crashed on me. Not only has adobe stopped selling CS6 they've also removed the option to older versions of creative cloud even if you have the subscription.
I hate Adobe with my entire hearth, but I do want to use their software. A lot of pirates buy software if they want to support creator (that's why I bought geometry dash), but Adobe is different. There was pantone drama, and the monthly fee for smaller creators is bad. The thing is that they are targeting businesses, and businesses have to pay their fee, cuz they are checked by the government. No one cares if a small creator downloads crack. They will just recommend it to friends in companies, and companies can't pirate software. It's the same story that with winrar. That's why I don't even use cracked Photoshop, and I use other apps, I don't want to support them. But sometimes I have to give up, I just have to admit that Adobe Animate is just the best animation software in the market. I also think of using premiere pro, but idk if I will do the change.

Animate is definitely not the best, there’s much better alternatives. Also, for premiere resolve exists, which is also a much better software experience, and it’s free or 300€ one time for the studio version, which most people don’t need

Okay let me get this straight Adobe has the right to steal my content to train their AI model but I don't have the right to steal Adobe software?
Substance is not like blender. In fact, substance is mostly a texturing tool and not a modeling or animating tool.
Even if they added DRM in a new version:
-Obviously people will find a way around it, it will be just harder
-People will still be able to download older "free" versions and they won't be missing out on many,good new features anyway.
Most of the new stuff is AI anyway, and it doesn't work on "free" versions anyway, because it needs connection to Creative Cloud.
If they cost like 7$ per program for a lifetime, I would buy them without a doubt

why would you pirate Adobe when you can pay 4 dollars a month for all its applications, with all updates included, and you also get access to their cloud? All you need to do is set your location to Turkey, and you're good to go
i think they just don't care because companies still have to pay for it, because they actually need to care about their workers using legally-obtained tools. if individuals pirate adobe products, it still means they get more users and can maintain their monopoly on the creative space.

It's funny how the creative cloud piracy is always updated while gaming piracy is stagnating due to denuvo DRM.
It's still possible to get around Denuvo if someone sets up ways to get a valid token, like they did with Jedi: Survivor. Completely removing Denuvo is extremely difficult though
There is likely another reason and that's the fact that Adobe also wants you to pirate their software. Why? because it strengthens the whole "Adobe programs are better" argument and when you pirate their software you become used to their software so you aren't as likely to move to the alternatives, this coupled with the fact that their software can reach a larger audience due to pirating..
Great video, loved the editing, the sound could be improved though, your background music is too high and some tracks are louder than others. I suggest nesting all the music tracks into one and putting a compressor on it with a low threshold and low gain. Sounds complicated but it genuinely takes like 3 clicks. Also nest and put a compressor on your voiceover track with a higher gain and threshold, settings vary but I suggest just playing around with the threshold on both the voiceover track and the music track until it sounds right. This will make your audio a lot more consistent

Yeah. I learned flash programing in 2023 - y'know...*after* flash became deprecated.... anyway.
It was an online course so we were responsible for getting the school to provide us with the software but if we didn't want to use a school device, we were kinda screwed cause it was from **2008** But the teacher made a post on the class management portal saying "For those who have been unable to source the required software for the course, I should point out that it is deffinetly *NOT* possible to do a google search to get the needed installer and product key, and as your teacher it would be wrong of me to condone any such activities"

I wouldn't say they don't care.
They do try to make it harder for other people to copy/pirate their programs (which doesn't always work as they expected since this change happened in 2012)
For example, Adobe introduced the subscription model and removed the " one-time buy" option. The permanent buy was easier for others to copy than their subscription model.
Also: Adobe doesn't directly take the actions (or maybe they do, idk)
But tutorials for pirating are taken down from youtube

Adobe also added a Genuine Program Application, which scans your software for legality.
Otherwise, it is true.
But maybe they don't bother that much because the pirated versions are never anything like their official program: no updates, problems, especially when you add pirated plug-ins, etc. doesn't run that smooth and crashes several times and, more importantly, no support or fixes.
They also offer their programs mainly for professional use, such as commercials or movies.
It is unlikely that people with this level will rely on pirated version because it ruins their reputation and trustworthiness.
Coming from a person who used pirated versions and is now an official subscriber.

Adobe has recently atrengthened piracy checking, every copy of photoshop 2023/2024 and acrobat dc 2023/2024 has been giving me the pirated copy notification
My guess would’ve been; it’s an industry standard, and so the industry has to pay. Us normies that aren’t rich, we weren’t their customer anyway. Similar to how Microsoft gives away their OS for free, so companies will buy enterprise licenses.

They allow this because they want people to learn their software and become dependent upon it and once they go pro it's to risky selling a product made with pirated software so people fork out the money to Adobe. If it was hard to obtain whilst learning younger generations would just use something else and when they go pro Adobe wouldn't be able to charge them.
