Threading a Trumpet Mouthpiece Rim and Underpart

  • In this video John & Brett show us how we can take two trumpet mouthpieces and thread the parts together in order to make a custom trumpet mouthpiece.
    Our client liked the rim feel of one mouthpiece but didn't like the sound, intonation, and difficulty in the high range. They had another mouthpiece that didn't feel good but they liked the way it played including better intonation, a more resonant sound, and an easier upper register on the trumpet. One option would have been to measure and copy the parts of the different mouthpieces but in this case it was more economical and practical to thread the parts and have them work together!

    you nailed my Reeves 1 1/2 C rim to my bach 6BM. Can't tell it's two pieces unless I unscrew it. now I have no one else to blame. keep up the great work. thnx
