    Another great video Deanna! And what a break, you were chosen Group Leader! Actually you're an ideal tourist for these tours. You're enthusiastic game for any activity, you'll sample any food, and the organizers get to later enjoy a wonderful video of their presentation! All of you sure seem adept with that blow dart. Did you have to practice much?

    • @DeannaTroyTravels
      @DeannaTroyTravels  Před 2 lety

      The blow was our first tries! It was very simple after their explanation, the dart was so lightweight that it shot right out of the bamboo! And yes it's true, I will try anything once and I'm always excited for an adventure! Thank you so much for your kind comments!

    Im a filipina american... and have been doing some research... i found out that Aklan.. the provence I am from was originally settled back in 1212 by ARistocratic Chieftan's called Datu's and they traded with the Indigenous Ati Tribe to settle in the Panay Island of the philippines. Watching these videos... Im astounded by the identical aspects of our culture and heritage.

      Wow, that's so cool! Thanks for sharing! It's interesting how cultures around the world share similar customs and traditions! So glad you found my video! I have a blog article about this cultural village in Malaysia as well which details more about the customs and food here too if you're interested: www.deannatroytravels.com/post/mari-mari-cultural-village-in-sabah-malaysia

      @DeannaTroyTravels I've come to find out that the Aklanon... people of Aklan are direct descendents of the Murut Tribe of Malaysia/Borneo. We have giant statues called the 10 Datu's that recounts the voyage of this warrior tribe that essentially created the 1st settlement in Aklan (1212) that established the nation of the Philippines, on the Panay Island. Which is how Filipinos came to call themselves pinoys and pinays... with the Spanish Colonization adding Philip to it later on... hence, Philip-pinay.
      The biggest festival in the Philippines known as the ATI ATIHAN is a celebration of the Datu and Ati tribes coming together as brethren.
      Sabah Borneo Malaysia was actually considered part of the Philippines.. there are much older maps that depict this region as a territory. Considering the mass migration of the aristocratic Murut Tribesman.. it would make sense they'd want to keep their homeland.
      This also makes the story of Magellan being killed by Datu Lapu Lapu make more sense. He was a head hunter warrior... legend has it that it took 10 Datu Warriors to kill several dozen of Magellans men.

    Having been there, Mari-Mari reminds me of a mini Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts USA. Both focus on the traditional of the past. In this case, something I knew nothing about before our visit.
    Loved the video and the reminder of our trip!

      Yes! I was thinking the same thing I almost included a line about the similarities between in the places in my blog article on this venue at www.deannatroytravels.com - But I figured those who haven't been to Sturbridge wouldn't understand the reference. Thank you for your comment and this was so fun to experience with you! :)

    I loved the fact about the wedding. Imagine if we had to play loud music to invite people to our wedding! What song would we play?

    • @DeannaTroyTravels
      @DeannaTroyTravels  Před 2 lety

      Me too! I thought that was so interesting. OMG wow, what would we pick? I think a good one would be "Marry You" by Bruno Mars - because it says what we want to do in the song so everyone would know! HAHA And it was one of our first songs we would sing together at the beginning of our relationship 💖

      there are many areas and regions in your country that badly managed.. why you want to take Sabah too? just because u saw it nice and beautiful? that is because it is under Malaysian control.. if Sabah is under philippines, it will be just bad as mindanao and other regions in your country...

    This Mari Mari cultural village is a cheap copy og Igorot Filipinos in the cordilleras in N Luzon. This shows that this people are of Filipino origins, NO DOUBT about it,

    • @DeannaTroyTravels
      @DeannaTroyTravels  Před 2 lety

      I do see the similarities between the cultures. Do they have a museum like this in the Philippines too? I have noticed that if there's tourists destinations that work well in one country than the other surroundings countries do take note. Like Cat Cafes for example, those originated in Taiwan and now they are all over Southeast Asia and Japan. Where are you from Chris? What's your favorite travel destination in Malaysia? Nice to meet you
